When I read this threads title I knew that somewhere within the thread the stench of Denham would come to the fore. Surprise, surprise! I have sadly given up on football Journalism. The insatiable appetite to fill air time or column space has led to a total decline in the standards that were once the norm. These days I could count the football journalists / reporters that I respect on one hand and still have enough fingers left to muster an up yours to DENHAM. UP YOUR DENHAM

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Outside fifty replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Read between the lines folks. Effectively the club through Viney is telling both Gold Coast and GWS that they will call their bluff on pick 3. If either choose to take Viney at one or two then the MFC will let him go. It's called "Game Theory". Are both GWS and Gold Coast willing to risk pick one or two on a pick eight. Viney's statement sends the message to both clubs that the MFC has discussed the prospect of not using pick three to secure him. The ball is now entirely in Gold Coast's and GWS court. This of course may just be all bluff and we end up taking Viney at either pick three or twenty six. The thing is we will never know and neither will the other two clubs. -
Poor Brock. He is just the dumbest kid in the class trying to get his mates to like him. The more he tries the further they and everyone else steps away. This new era of social media is challenging for the I.Q deficient. So give the poor dumb bastard a break will ya.

[censored]! I just realised Cale Morton is Keyser Soze! -

Man, Morton's tentacles reach far and wide. He has far more influence than even I'd previously given him credit for. Kinda like Keyser Soze! -
I'm shocked. [censored] poor journalistic standards from the Hun. Whats the world coming to? Next you'll be trying to tell me that Mark Robinson makes up half his stories.

No, thank you Demonland! You have saved me. Before i stumbled upon Demonland I was of the belief that I was an irrational pathetically pessimistic demon supporter who only ever saw the darkness, a lost cursed soul doomed to walk this earth alone in my misery. Now after a year or so of following Land I know that I am not alone at least. In fact compared to many on Land I'm positively optimistic. Praise the lord it's a miracle! Thank you Demonland.

Gotta love the wrecker.

Travis Johnstone joins Chelsea Heights
Outside fifty replied to fatmanblues's topic in Melbourne Demons
Travis is the reason i'm BALD ! One minute sublime foot skills and extraordinary vision tearing a game apart, the next a slackers attitude with a stoners execution having little or no impact on the game. Still I loved that hairy bastard. Good on ya trapper and all the best down at Chelsea. P.S you owe me a head of hair, blonde with curls thanks. -
Actually Taylor quite entertains me. In much the same way as all those You Tube clips depicting morons doing moronic things and then coming unstuck when the skateboard becomes accidentally inserted into their anal canal is entertaining. I believe the Germans have a word for it,( i think it's called Fruedencrap, translating as 'taking delight in the crappyness of others"). I like my German brothers love a good train wreck and channel 7's coverage is spectacular in it's awesome crappyness, which ipso facto makes it entertaining. For my money BT is the perfect ringmaster for such fare. Any day now I expect his talents will be recognised by those true aficionados of CRAP, the Eurovision. Pretty soon we will be able to watch BT broadcasting the votes from that Eurovision power house Moldavia with equal gusto.

Well done boys.

Time to take a good hard look in the room of mirrors fellow Demonlanders. Are we that gun shy that we tremble at being in the sights of that [censored] ant Damian Barrett !

The type of club you want to support ?
Outside fifty replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great thread BH. After following this club for most of my fifty plus years I'm starting to get desperate for success. I like you don't want to be the nice guy that offends no one and always plays by the rules, and yet when I look to the other clubs that I admire the most, the one that always comes to the fore is the Swans. I know that this is a conflicted view and yet I can't help but be impressed by their club structure. I love their internal discipline and fortitude, on field they are a remarkably resilient club that takes it's limited resources and delivers way beyond expectation, including premierships. If there was to be one model in the AFL that I would most like to emulate it would be theirs. -
News of Jim Stynes ashes final resting place

I love the fact that despite all the problems they encountered during the service it was the humour that they all saw. Thanks GD a lovely piece -
Jack Grimes ''Time For Team To Rise Up''
Outside fifty replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Grimes should be so lucky to live in MOE. I am sick and tied of the constant MOE bashing on Demonland. Paris it might not be, and yes the combined I.Q of the town struggles to hit double figures but it has many wonderful attributes. Did you know that MOE is the gateway to Morwell and has an olympic size swimming pool. Some of the AFL's finest have come from MOE including Peter Somerville and Barry Rowlings. On second thoughts your right, it's a [censored] hole. Back on topic. The only Latin my old man taught me was "FACTOR NON VERBA" It means deeds not words or something along those lines. Jack we are Melbourne supporters and we have endured decades of meaningless platitudes. As well intended as you no doubt are we need to mourn for season 2012. It's been a crap year. -
Thanks for the brilliant but oh so short cameo Liam.

I think Neeld has been given the unenviable task of clearing out the shyte and ridding the joint of the stench that currently lingers. This as belz's said will take seasons. Already there are plenty of doomsayers crapping themselves silly at the thought of yet another rebuild but there is no other alternative. Once he's done the hard yards I hope we have the Kahunas to reward the guy. From an Industry point of view I think it's critical that we stay the course and demonstrate to the football world that we have a spine. Currently we are considered a basket case by most in the Industry because we jump at shadows and wet our selves every time someone criticises us or the going gets tough. The first couple of years will be the undoubtedly be the worst. I hope we don't treat Neeld as a "Spade work" coach, and for once show some intestinal fortitude and loyalty.

You know the scene. Young fresh faced soldiers bunkered down in the trenches fear ripping at their core. Their only kids just out of College and they've never known fear like this. It's the dawn just before the big offensive. It's quite, deathly quite. The battle hardened Sarg played by the Duke senses their fear. The Sarg looks them all in the eye and doesn't flinch, a smile slowly creeps across his withered face and suddenly their all put at ease, except for one kid who starts crying and whimpering hysterically. The Sarg slowly stands and ambles over to the kid. He then slaps him hard across the face and says."Snap out of SOIDEE we got a job to do."

Now the season is over I can look forward to weekends minus that vein popping stress derived from anger, and my kids looking at me with dismay and alarm in their eyes. SERENITY NOW!
-
Very disappointed with Bail this year, but then again he's not Robinson Crusoe. Has been given a run with defensive role that he's clearly not suited to.
-
One thing really has stood out for me so far tonight and so far this season. Where are our ball hunters? Our players are purely reactive and rarely if ever proactive. We seem incapable of hunting the ball down and then instigating an attacking move with any sort of confidence.

I hear the screaming jets.
-
Come to think of it so do I. Now i'm really scared !

I caught the reality bus the other day. It was full of crazy people and junkies. All of them dressed in red and blue muttering meaningless platitudes and threatening to post them on Demonland.
