  1. You are a freak Supermercado man. How the hell did you get hold of a 31 year old MFC memo? Amazing
  2. I generally feel a bit sad when our 2nd tier players leave (by whatever means) and play for other clubs. Stef Martin, Jamie Bennell, Ricky Petterd, Kyle Cheney, Matthew Warnock etc were all players I liked at one time and still follow when I watch those clubs play. For some reason, even though he was on the list for six years, I'm not really fussed about Blease and regard him as just another Geelong player already
  3. What happens if we do take him and he becomes the Anti-Watts, a bang crash player with a dodgy kick and Laverde/Lever/Any other draft mid goes onto to become Pendle clones? We won't nail both picks. If we do then the Norm Smith curse is over and I can kiss goodbye to my regular re infections of MFCSS
  4. Agree. If those guys who are currently 15th-25th best players and who have only had a couple of preseasons can step up then we can improve quickly. Michie, Riley, Toumpas, Barry, Frost, Salem, Kent, JKH and (hopefully) Ben Newton are all talented footballers with significant scope for improvement. Dyson and Viney are also young players with only a couple of preseasons behind them. Then there is Hogan Whilst trying not to sound too clichéd, this will be the mother of all preseasons for this group. IMost of our teams improvement in 2015 will come from these players
  5. And hopefully we will soon add to that list Melbourne - Ben Newton (Port Adelaide)
  6. Soidee you have to remain true. We will turn the corner When you are lining up for drinks at half time at the Melbourne V Hawthorn Grand Final and there is a sad Hawks supporter complaining that they are 8 goals down because Hogan is giving Frawley a bath and he looks at you and says "you another bloody Melbourne bandwagon supporter? Come out of the woodwork they have". You'll be able to look him in the eye and say "Nah mate, supported them through thick and thin. Been a paid up member for the last 42 years"
  7. Apologies. You explained it well. I comprehended poorly.
  8. Does anyone else think it's a bad omen when they mention his average of 23 games over the last 8 seasons?
  9. This is a fantastic idea Will go with Yeata first up tomorrow and l look forward to further daily match ups although I think at the pointy end it may be only a contest for the minor placings
  10. I'll see your Jayden Hunt and raise you a Dom Barry Whilst he doesn't get enough of it yet and can look a bit timid I love seeing him take off for a run. He is poetry in motion, with that Rolls Royce movement thing and can deliver the ball well. Has been given him a two year contract so the powers to be must see something they like in him. Coming into his 3rd pre-season and should be ready produce Is also wearing the No.33 which is a favourite number having been worn by Gary Hardeman, Sugar Healy and the Wiz. I think I just convinced myself
  11. They may never have banned a team before but 34 guilty players from one team may test their patience
  12. Thanks rpfc I didn't know that. Tough gig being a rookie. So much for the glamorous life of an AFL footballer
  13. Good pick up Moonie. Dont forget some other brothers over the years Steve and Shaun Smith Brett and Glenn Lovett and, of course Kevin Dyson whose younger brother Tom is currently wearing the number 12 for us
  14. I'm confused. So does this mean he was a rookie with a one year contract that ran out and he has now been re-signed on another rookie contract? I know very little about him except he is a tough 6'1" midfielder which is obviously what we need so I share in his stokedness
  15. And to give them their due they have performed admirably on the field against the odds. I shudder to think how our Melbourne players would have gone under the same pressure
  16. I am hoping that they will have a Robbie tribute match first up at the G possibly against the Saints on Saturday night.
  17. I wince every time this thread pops to the top of the board but Melbourne were expecting him to play in 2015 after his recuperation and made him an offer. Are you saying that Mitch went to the Cats for less than what we offered?
  18. If they go for that then I'm seriously overestimating what Treloar is worth
  19. Considering the ages I would have had Treloar over Dangerfield and Kennedy this year. He is the quintessential modern day footballer. He is the only one I would have contemplated giving both picks 2 & 3 for
  20. We should be taking a mid with pick three and none of those boys are true mids. Both the J.L's could be midfielders (apparently) although Lever is getting silly big to play out of the square. From Roos' past comments he is unlikely to pick Wright and McCartin being speculative talls. Also whilst Lever would possibly be the likely number 1 if he had of played all year, he hasn't played all year. So with no great conviction I'll go with Laverde but only due to him playing some midfield and being a good Roos size. I wouldn't be surprised however if the people who will make the actual choice will choose none of the above and go for someone completely different
  21. Does anyone know what the overall quality of this years draft group is supposed to be like? Superdraft or 2003?
  22. I would say that Georgio is a footballer first and foremost and not particularly athletically gifted. The problem is he is not probably a good enough footballer. Funny how two people can have diametrically opposed points of view from watching the same bloke play
  23. I don't know about that. The Pies just lost their 2nd and 4th best footballers from last year and it is very unclear how much quality they have received in return. Would you swap Tyson and Dunn for that lot?
  24. Feel sad for him. The poor bastard got drafted by a club in a death spiral, got made captain well before his time, lost his speed and kicking depth, got seriously injured and then thought on the mend, has been shopped around by the club he showed uncommon loyalty to and yesterday finds out he is a long way from even training let alone playing footy. He must be in a dark place. It is a setback for the club but a disaster for Jack
  25. That would be the best outcome possible. In some ways I would prefer Treloar to Danger and, like most here, I rate him in the top few of the league. Dangerfield, Jones, Treloar, Tyson, Viney and Cross gives us top 8 potential.
