  1. If Jesse Hogan was a better kick he would be perfect
  2. I understand where you are coming from Sir Paul but I would very much like both of them to join Jones, Dunn and Watts in that small group of players that emerges out of this Clubs darkest hour to enjoy success. If anyone deserves some fun times Jack and Jack do
  3. Feel free to give him some advice from me too Akum. I can live with players shifting clubs. We can't be too hypocritical as we were cheering for Tyson, Garlett and H on the weekend. Frawley, Rivers, Clark and Sylvia I all wish well to certain degrees, but there is something about that bloke that I just know that I will be booing him till he hangs up his boots.
  4. I accept this is just an internet rumour but thanks Song for the chance to watch that highlight package. Some of the stuff he pulls off is simply amazing. Footy at its best
  5. In normal circumstances that would be considered madness but considering our improvement and their decline this Easter weekend perhaps these are not normal circumstances
  6. Yes. The guy is a bloody legend. Between his amazing, unsung work on Demonwiki and his Every Day is Sunday blog he is easily my favourite read. Hats off to him
  7. And unfortunately Bugg didn't get anything for his hit on Riewoldt
  8. When Viney has been dropping him on his sore shoulder continuously for the past 3 and a half quarters. That wasn't luck, he had been professionally worked over and couldn't move his arm properly, hence the blunder
  9. Yes, the last of our 17 goals. A bit of frenetic play, Garlett looking to goal and can't, handballs under pressure to Cross, Cross then to Salem. Time slows momentarily, Salem makes a cup of tea, eats a bickie, reads a book, pats the dog and then kicks the ball. Goal umpire stands on that spot that marks the mid point between the two posts and looks to the heavens as the footy sails directly over her nose. The defining bit? Was the fact that pretty much everyone of us knew that the only place that ball was going after Christian's kick was back to the centre square.
  10. It is also easy to overlook things Watts does like at the 1.27 mark of this vid. Work out how the ball gets to Garlett for him to kick the goal from the centre clearance. Gold Coast had just kicked two on the trot and it was looking distinctly like we may fold as we have done so many times of late. And then along comes this little bit of magic rd-1-watch-all-the-goals Jack will never be a Leigh Matthews tough guy clone but I do see bits of James Hird brilliance in him. He can see the game unfold in a different way to most
  11. The bad news is our hold on 2nd spot on the ladder is looking tenuous. The good news is one of the whinging Scott twins head is about to explode
  12. You can put that down to Jack Viney working on Abletts shoulder for the previous 3 and a half quarters. By that stage Ablett wasn't keen, or perhaps, even able to move his left arm hence the fumble
  13. Who would have thought watching your team play football could be fun?
  14. Looks like Bernie is definitely coming straight in next week. Pressure is on the senior mids to perform this afternoon. Very happy about that
  15. Agree Ron. I'm looking for some aggressive, contested, give no quarter Roos type football with lots of running options when we have the footy.
  16. I already had a lot of respect for Nathan before I read that article. I have even more now I hope he gets the reward for effort and loyalty he deserves
  17. Agree Great to be associated with a quality product like Haymes
  18. Brayshaw four weeks ago to coaching staff "So what do I need to do to play Rnd 1?" Coaching Staff. "The established players are going to have the first opportunity to cement places in that team but if you play well in the VFL you may push for a spot" So 3 matches, 2 X BOGs and 1 time in the best players later the selectors now have to decide if Angus's form and fitness warrant a call up. I would suggest that it may come down to team balance and match ups but my guess is that he will play
  19. I think they have nailed the Melbourne City/Club connection. It is the first time in my lifetime that I have seen it properly articulated to a wider audience. There are not too many things that other supporters need to be jealous of the MFC about but our name is one of them. Could be the start of good things to come.
  20. I agree. And I'm hoping Frost is in scintillating backline form by then so A) He can sprint off Riewoldt all day long with a forlorn looking Jack chasing hopelessly behind and B) I don't have to worry about Frawley not being there against the only team I thought he was particularly useful against
  21. If anyone can make a comeback from this Jack can. This kid is made from the right stuff. He is dedicated, determined and is of such character that he was made the youngest ever AFL Captain. Assuming his navicular fully heals then there is no reason why he can't fulfil the promise of his first two seasons. He should get back some zip and be able to kick goals from outside 50 once again. Over time we have forgotten how good he was in those first couple of years; 18 disp ave first year, 20 in his second with 4 tackles a game. He was thrown into it and performed. I still can see him playing a significant part for us in a big final. Perhaps he can go full circle and take the match-saving backline mark like he did as a 17 year old in the SANFL Prelim Final
  22. I suspect it will end up similar to the Barassi 5 year plan in the early to mid 80's where the rewards of his hard work wasn't fulfilled until the Northey era. No matter what happened on Thursday night we are a better team than last year and the year before. Goodwin and us, as supporters, will be the beneficiaries of the Roos legacy.
  23. White, Riley, Hunt, King and Terlich didn't play at all on the weekend. Are they training?
  24. I assume that if each player ran, say, 100kms in training last pre-season this year they have run 180kms. It would be fair to say part of this can be explained due to the extended pre-season but part also due to upping training loads. Whatever the explanation having nearly double the amount of Ks in the players legs and more players staying on the track this year has to be a good thing for the season proper
  25. Yes, a poll of your peers is an accurate measure of your value in an industry. To tell you the truth I was slightly disappointed to see Nathan's name this early. Obviously I'm biased but I would like to think that as we become more than just a difficult training run for most teams to play then he will finally receive due recognition
