Love the guttural roar of the crowd as the ball went through the goals. Almost like a come from behind win against Essendon meant something

Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
FarNorthernD replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
And that would explain why Jake is ranked 7th, 8th and 12th in the three phantom drafts I just looked at. Incredibly impressive considering he didn't play at all this year -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
FarNorthernD replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just because we have Garlett doesn't mean we can't develop JKH and Kent. And Jeff has a humungously bigger chance of being a good, long term player with us than the 18 year that would have been picked at 61 -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
FarNorthernD replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
I liked his interview. As someone else mentioned he doesn't do footy speak which is nice. Got the impression that he loved being at Carlton till this year where he found it wasn't enjoyable anymore Would have gone anywhere. Nev Jetta a good bloke, Flash said the place wasn't all bad. Sure, why not. Seemed to light up a bit when speaking about next year. Roos has apparently offered him more on field responsibilities with a run through the midfield. The bloke is 25 years old and is entering the prime years of his footballing life. He has proven himself to be a good player and you don't just lose that. If he can get his head right, possibly feel a bit of love from the coaching staff and enjoy his footy again we will love this guy. Unlike many of our past picks Jeff is low risk at pick 61 but a reasonable shot at high reward. Yay -
I've just changed my vote. I now don't think Chip will stay. Hoping the people at sportsbet will also let me change my mind at the end of Cup Day

Honestly I think we are well over the line for pick 3 and I think the Club has been aware of this for some time. 95% positive that we will be properly compensated. There is, however, that MFCSS bit of me that thinks that we will get totally screwed and will end up with an end of first round pick.

I reckon you can take everyone off the banner aside from Jones and Roos and start building again from scratch
-
And .011 is even less

Maybe Roos equal with Jimmy coming on board as an administrator. Without Jimmy I'm not sure there would be a Club for Roos to coach

GRAND FINAL-WHO ARE YOU GOING FOR?
FarNorthernD replied to Bobby McKenzie's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes but you should also know you can't say that out loud. Shame on you -
As a 10 year old in the mid 70's the only thing you could boast about as a Melbourne supporter was that we had the best centreline in the league. We were truly dreadful everywhere else but Alves - Wells - Flower was a thing of beauty

A BIG POINT ON THE COMPASS ~ The Sam Baulderstone Thread

2014 Player Review - # 39 Neville Jetta

And the benefits of a full pre-season without injury -
If Roos is looking to repeat last years trick by trading out pick 2 (or 3) for an established player with a lower first round kickback then perhaps he maybe looking at Jordan De Goey to be this years Chris Salem. According to the TAC Cup Grand Final thread Jordan impressed in todays game. He is also a Paul Roos sized mid at 187cm, 82 kg. Apparently he missed the first half of the season due to a broken finger so is coming from a way back. Going by his highlights he can kick over over jam jar with both feet.

If Chip went to play with his simple, honest, hard working country friends in Geelong for what amounted to tier two compo for us but knocked back a larger tier one contract from Freo would the powers make allowances for the more lucrative but rejected contract?
-
And out of the players out there today WJ which midfielder would you most like to see in Red and Blue next year?
-
Whatever your arguments with the system, the two best teams for the year are playing next week and that is how it should be. The finals system isn't perfect but is is better than any other.

2014 Player Review - # 26 Dan Nicholson
FarNorthernD replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dan played 30+ games for us, earned a brownlow vote and gave his all over 4 seasons of AFL footy. We all know why he isn't playing a fifth. I hope one day to bump into him and shake his hand and say "well done" -
Yes, of course, you are right. Apologies brain turned to mush
-
Wouldn't the higher placed teams - Hawks, Freo, Cats - are more likely to bid if they rated Moore in the top dozen players? It is a no lose situation for them; either forces a major competitor to use their first round pick or they get a player they rank above what they would get for their own pick at 15~17.

2014 Player Review - # 9 Jack Trengove
FarNorthernD replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
You may as well add Col Garland to that list. He played no where near his best this season -
I'm hanging around for a bit to see if anyone posts the rumour before a mod deletes it

Yeah but it is Heritier Lumumba. Please anybody but him. The silly prancing, showponying, long bombing it the Dalai Lama, holier than thou soapbox footballer who was once called plain old Harry. I haven't met him on a plane. I haven't lived next door to him but he annoys the bejesus out of me and we already have enough players on our list that can do that. I would much prefer to roll the dice on Mitch Clark staying or go back to the comfortable place a month ago where we thought he was gone without any compo
-
Yes, we need Ollie fines

Watching Port does give me hope. Just two years ago they were playing to tiny crowds with half the seats covered by taups. Their football was rubbish, they were a financial basket case and they had little respect amongst the footballing public. I have no idea how their balance sheet looks these days but you have to respect everything else they have done. Hopefully we are reading from the same book
