  1. Good on you guys and girls. Speaks a fair bit to your dedication to front up for a ring around after a result like the weekend. True supporters
  2. Human emotions are weird aren't they. Off all the players who have left us - Scott T, The Wiz, Rivers, Stan Alves, Frawley, Wells and even Clark eventually you wish them well. But after nearly 30 years I still think Gerard Healy is an out and out, class of his own [censored].
  3. Agree. When they picked him I figured the Melbourne coaching staff had a cunning Jordie plan. It almost gave me some hope but to have him as the sub I would have preferred a Bail or M. Jones who would at least give us some run, speed and the ability to play out of the centre.
  4. Love the fact the Club arranged the Hulk drop by and love that the players are enjoying themselves so much. I would imagine it is a way better place to be an AFL footballer than a couple of years agoOnwards and upwards
  5. Forget the cash and the lifestyle how good would it be to experience the roar of the crowd (2.00 + 2.22 min mark) out on the ground? You can see how that could quickly become addictive
  6. I do like Howe. Let's face it if it wasn't for his appearance on mark of the week 28 times in 2013 there may be even less of us Melbourne supporters alive today. But where is he in the pecking order of players we would like to keep? I don't think anyone here would have him before; Jones Tyson Vince Hogan McDonald and Salem And personally I'd have Viney Jetta Dunn Dawes Garlett Watts Lumumba Brayshaw VanDemon and rolling the dice Petracca Now obviously a few of those players who are early in their career are not going to get paid as much as Howe. And that list is very subjective but you could easily argue that he is outside our top ten players and thus would be paid according to that scale Really I can't see any club paying big dollars for him aside from GWS who may do so because, unlike Israel Folau, he is both marketable and can play footy to a good AFL standard. I believe he will stay.
  7. Who got it? Cripps? I can't imagine there will be too much whinging. It isn't as if any of us need to be told Jesse may have a bright future. He has pretty much skipped the rising bit and gone straight to star
  8. I live in a part of the country that can be troubled by cyclones in the summer months. We have found media will always take the most sensational and easiest route to report them. This year they used unattributed file footage of crashing waves, driving wind and rain on the news in Melbourne with a reporter doing the audio over the top. In reality that same beach had calm seas and was bathed in sunshine for most of that day. No doubt the reporting of Howe and others contract negotiations are subject to the same level of quality journalism. I really would not believe anything that has been reported aside from the fact that neither party has signed
  9. I have a theory. It isn't particularly revolutionary but here goes Backs. Probably as good as any in the league. We also have some depth too. Whilst we all would prefer to have Jetta playing I don't think Grimes replacing him will be as bad as some may believe Forwards. Garlett and Hogan obviously improve us markedly. If it comes down into the fwd fifty we score more often than most sides. Mids. We are improving but we still suck. Against lesser midfield combos such as the Tigers (without Delidio) and an underdone Gold Coast we win games. Against fast breaking sides with bucketfulls of talent like GWS we are knackered. So my theory is it is not which sides we are better than but really which midfield teams. Because of that I can't see us doing any better than 14th this year but with the addition of two more class mids and some development of our youngsters I can see us climbing the ladder rapidly in 2016. We are near the tipping point
  10. Tomorrow's obituary column will include the death of the group formerly known as "The keeping a lid on Jesse Hogan hype" movement. Paul Roos, their spiritual leader, attempted to keep the movement alive last night by declaring Hogan was just one of the new, tough kids at the Dees and it wasn't as if he had kicked ten (goals). He was last seen in a giggling fit after leaving the media conference
  11. Pretty much anything you say about Jesse I'm going to "like"
  12. Lets face it, Coniglio, Shiel and Treloar are all kind of handy There was one stage last year I thought Treloar could go on to be in the top 5 players in the game. He has the other two covered last year for disposals (27.6), tackles (5.6) and clearances (just under 6) a game. He would actually be my favourite to put in red and blue but can definitely see other points of view.
  13. I'm very excited about this match and hope it will become an annual feature. Should be a brilliant atmosphere and you would imagine both sides will be going in pretty hard. Im flying down for it and if I see you Satry I'll buy you a beer for all the pre-season training reports.
  14. For the first time in a long time I feel relaxed that we will actually get the right trades and draft picks to improve the team. In the past i just hoped we may just accidentally jag one
  15. He is going to need to change that action. His field kicking is reasonably fluid but that stuttering, lean back set shot routine is a shocker. Having said that, once he can kick, he will be perfect.
  16. Yes that is it. One moment I find myself screaming obscenities at a 6'4" man with the physicality of a cotton wool ball. I vow in my head that he shall never regain my trust and that he should play for all eternity in the Fish Creek reserves And the next he does something so clever you know only 1% of AFL players could have pulled it off I'm still a fan and he will win games for us along the way but gosh you would have some severe reservations on him in a big final
  17. If Jesse Hogan was a better kick he would be perfect
  18. I understand where you are coming from Sir Paul but I would very much like both of them to join Jones, Dunn and Watts in that small group of players that emerges out of this Clubs darkest hour to enjoy success. If anyone deserves some fun times Jack and Jack do
  19. Feel free to give him some advice from me too Akum. I can live with players shifting clubs. We can't be too hypocritical as we were cheering for Tyson, Garlett and H on the weekend. Frawley, Rivers, Clark and Sylvia I all wish well to certain degrees, but there is something about that bloke that I just know that I will be booing him till he hangs up his boots.
  20. I accept this is just an internet rumour but thanks Song for the chance to watch that highlight package. Some of the stuff he pulls off is simply amazing. Footy at its best
  21. In normal circumstances that would be considered madness but considering our improvement and their decline this Easter weekend perhaps these are not normal circumstances
  22. Yes. The guy is a bloody legend. Between his amazing, unsung work on Demonwiki and his Every Day is Sunday blog he is easily my favourite read. Hats off to him
  23. And unfortunately Bugg didn't get anything for his hit on Riewoldt
  24. When Viney has been dropping him on his sore shoulder continuously for the past 3 and a half quarters. That wasn't luck, he had been professionally worked over and couldn't move his arm properly, hence the blunder
