  1. Yep it would have brought the house down if he had of. Interesting to hear the joyous, ironic cheers from the Collingwood crowd when he missed. Has there been a more maligned AFL player over the past six years? Everyone has got stuck into him; the media, opposition supporters, his own supporters and, by memory, even his own coach (Neeld) had a shot. Just before he signed his last contract I thought he would be well within his rights to leave. You could not blame him for seeking out a new start where the spotlight on him may have been less intense. To his credit he has hung in there with us. With the amount of poo he has copped without self-destructing is a credit to his mental toughness Jack was very good last weekend and was recognised in the coaches award. We can see how he is evolving and how good development is helping him. You can only imagine what player he may be now if he had of been at one of the well run and resourced clubs from the beginning. Perhaps games like last weekend are his ceiling but it isn't hard to believe that he will get a fair bit better. If Jack can consistently get hold of the ball 25-30 times a week he will single handedly make us a far better team .
  2. They listened to us!! They have ditched Ed, 5 o'clock replay is now just the normal woeful commentary team
  3. Thanks for that. I have just emailed them The only reason I have Foxtel is for the footy. Amazingly rude of them to to put a Collingwood commentary over a Melbourne win.
  4. Not being played at Casey, 6th V 7th on the ladder and both teams have strong AFL representation. Could be a cracker of a match
  5. Exactly. NicNat is easily the most overhyped player in the comp. If he did exactly the same things and had the same stats but was wearing a Melbourne jumper and looked like Max Gawn then we would be moaning about his lack of tank and woeful disposal. The degree that the commentators dribble on about him his nauseating.
  6. Melbourne got the chocolates, Casey seniors and their development side too. There cant be too many times of late where all three Melbourne aligned sides won on the same weekend.
  7. We have officially improved on last year. That's good
  8. Does anyone know what Melbourne will do this year assuming Casey play finals? In the past our listed players often drop out of the side after the senior teams matches conclude.
  9. I agree. I always assumed his figjam moniker was fairly close to the mark but he comes across as forthright, pragmatic and intelligent. He answers questions sensibly and honestly without falling into the AFL cliched nonsense that you get from most
  10. I don't know if it has been mentioned before but apparently Weitering is a Dees supporter. Obviously it doesn't count for much but the football romantic in me would love him to come to his childhood team and hopefully help them along to a premiership
  11. Commentators calling them the baby Bombers, apparently 12 players with less than 40 games. Looking at our side we have 10 or 11 under 40 games too. Bet they don't mention that
  12. I'm usually fairly confident at this time of day. I reckon our backs are better than most forward lines in the comp. Our forwards are adequate and today our mids should be better than the opposition. A hard fought 22 point win. All my confidence will, of course, evaporate the moment the teams run onto the ground this afternoon.
  13. Yes there is a lot of a Frawley feel about this. From an outsiders point of view he looks to be just going through the motions until he starts with a new club next year
  14. My usual hope against the Eagles is that Jack Watts kicks the after-the-siren-winning-goal after taking mark of the year on top of Nic Nat's head. But football does seem trivial given the events of the last couple of days. Deep down we all know that football doesn't matter and as Titus O'Reilly wrote yesterday; arguing over if a grown man properly disposed of a ball or held it long enough to qualify for a mark seems petty. But that is what football is about I suppose. For two hours we can forget about all those things that happen in the world; wars and cancers, mortgages and your kid getting crappy grades. We can dream about our team and winning games and perhaps even finals. So go you good thing number 4, take it up to them and if you can kick that goal the world will be a better place
  15. Absolutely agree. I'm constantly surprised to see anyone aged under 30 wearing a red and blue scarf. What has the club done to deserve their support? The fact that 35,000 of us sign on each year after a decade of slop, thrashings and farcial ineptitude is testament to our loyalty. We are the most rusted on, most patient and probably the loudest group of supporters in the league. When success comes we will have deserved it
  16. Yes. Two seconds before Sylvia left, Roos said that he was a "required player" and that Melbourne could hardly afford to lose players with Colin's experience. At the time I remember thinking that he wasn't going anywhere. Mitch Clark was the best player on Melbournes list according to Roos and Chip, our AA full back, was talked up too. In return we have got Vince, Lumumba and Brayshaw. None of the Melbourne players who left are playing at the moment. Whilst obviously Roos can't see into the future re injuries, he is good at this stuff and it wouldn't surprise me if he was talking Howe up for negotiations with other clubs at the end of the year. If Howe had of finished the game with zero possessions I reckon Roos may have had him in contention for Brownlow votes
  17. Given Jesse's back injury last year and current hamstring issue perhaps they may think twice about subjecting him to an eight hour return plane trip? Depends on how they evaluate the risk I imagine
  18. So Frost has actually gone out a week but Grimes has come in six weeks. Can only assume Jack is part gecko and has regenerated his thumb or perhaps it wasn't actually broken in the first place. Out of all those still injured I think we are missing Salem the most. The kid is all class
  19. I'm not big on the Keith Greig comparison. In his 11 games to date Angus has shown he will be a far more physical than Keith ever was. Greig was a classic outside winger, Brayshaw is possibly better inside than out, but looks like he will be equally at home doing either Also I will never forgive Keith for being a very poor man's Robbie but somehow ending up with two brownlows.
  20. Titus in his Monday Knee Jerk Reaction makes the call the Brayshaw is already a better player than the bloke we lost to gain pick 3; James Frawley. Now I know it is a satirical piece and Frawley is a 26 year old, 8 year veteran with 146 games and an All Australian guernsey under his belt but is there anyone in Demonland world who doesn't think we are well ahead in this deal? In just 11 games I think Angus has shown that, along with Hogan, he is a player you can build a team around
