  1. And the good news is that Jack is not alone in "loving that [censored]". We were as hard as them today and weren't intimidated when they tried to rough us up in the third term. Watching the Stretch/Neal-Bullen interview and there is a whole group of younger players in this Club who don't carry any scars and believe in the process. They won't be easily swayed. Then there is the likes of Hogan and Brayshaw who, to be honest, I'm probably most excited about since the arrival of Scwarz and Neitz. We will make the 8 next year
  2. I don't know but it is not going up today. Will hopefully get a hold of a few in the second half
  3. Open a twitter account and my my ever tweet would be to Gerard nob-head Healey and say up yours you fat traitorous [censored]
  4. Bizarre post. There is NO way that unicorn is pink
  5. Only need four Old. We have Brayshaw and hopefully Petracca makes it three
  6. I like your positivity C & B but this club does continue to find new and unusual ways to torture us.
  7. And Cloke picks today to have touch of the yips. There is no god
  8. I think you are dead right. I also think that Garlett is a A). Reason to watch Melbourne play even though we are a very poor team. Fun and amazing football things often happen when Jeff is near the ball, sometimes it is brilliantly fun and amazing. B). Excellent conversation starter with Carlton supporters and C). Second word answer to the question "Have Melbourne improved this year?" The first word being Hogan
  9. You are right, of course, Stuie. There are only so many frank and honest conversations the players can have till they become meaningless. There are only so many times the coaches can lay it on the line before their words mean nothing. However if you believe that Roos is going along the right path, then at some time the message will click. We are still 3 very good midfielders away from being a decent side but I believe an hard at it, competitive Melbourne side will be on show this Monday
  10. Honestly I don't think a couple of player changes will make much, if any, difference. If the team come to play with some ferociousness and a willingness to compete, we will do well. We have shown this year that our best is very good. I believe this will be a line in the sand game for us and we will surprise many.
  11. We have easily the worst midfield in the comp but our forward line is OKish. I'm fairly sure that our conversion rate for the number of forward 50 entries is actually pretty good. Like others here, I believe that if our midfield could approach even mediocre AFL standards we would win games consistently.
  12. I haven't been much of a fan of Goodes since I was at a game at the SCG and he snotted Simon Godfrey behind play. I'm also not much of a fan footballers, actors and other "celebrities" becoming Australians of the Year. But that isn't his fault As for the war dance, it seems fairly provocative at first glance and people will no doubt have differing opinions but it would be good to wait to find out the circumstances that prompted it.
  13. Yes, same. He has been around forever and yet if he comes right could still have another 6 or so years of AFL football Can't help but think that with everything that has happened to Jack proves the existence of the Melbourne curse. If the world was a fair and just place, the bloke who got drafted one spot ahead of Jack who be the one who suffered from perpetual misfortune.
  14. It was a brilliant era when Schwarz and Neitz burst onto the scene. For a short time we had two Hogans, one at CHF and the other bookended at CHB. They were the two best young key position players in the country. Unfortunately the moment was fleeting Fast forward twenty years and whilst McDonald doesn't have the talent of a young Neitz he may end up also becoming an All Australian CHB and Hogan, well, he could be anything. Just need a couple of Jesse quality young mids and the future will be bright
  15. Jack played well on the weekend but Im not with the graceful swan analogy With his relatively short legs, long body and upright running style I've always pictured Fitzy as a human version of a dippy, dunking bird.
  16. Those two could be from different planets
  17. Absolutely agree. I'm of the opinion that Col probably had less talent and got more out of himself than most believe. Either way he is one of ours and should be welcomed back to the club as any 150+ game player should be
  18. Thought I may as well bump this I spend way too much time on Demonland but this thread and the prospect of very nasty things happening to the Essendon Football Club is the only one offering any joy at the moment.
  19. Push buttered toast off the kitchen bench and see which way up it lands
  20. I was expecting to see more commentary on here about Watts being dropped. Perhaps I assume that many of you are, like me, aren't particularly fussed if he stays or goes
  21. I am happy to say that I was a Tom Mc believer from early on but have also had statements that I wish I could take back. Most of those involved Cale Morton and phrases such as "quintessential modern day footballer". I also briefly entertained the thought that Addam Maric could be a ten year player with us As for the KFC prediction Spirit I think I can top that. I was convinced bottle water would never take off in this country. Who, I reasoned, is going to pay money for something they can get free from a tap? Hmmm
  22. Easily Lockett and Dunstall good Oldfart? Good thing you aren't getting ahead of yourself or you may have said......... actually who is better than those two? Carey? Hudson? Anyway I'll jump on that bandwagon
  23. For those in the 'Essendon are cheating scum camp' would have to be happy with the rather delicious timing of the announcement. WADA had only about three hours left to appeal yet it is difficult to believe that they only just decided to proceed. There must have been many in the Bomber heirachy who were very confident they were going to let it go through to the keeper (to continue with the cricket analogy) only to now see it being smacked back over their heads. I think I like WADA
  24. Wow. Well that is unexpectently good news to wake up to
