  1. Why are we worried about getting Viney? We've got the third pick, we take the best available. If he's not it at 3 and GC or GWS pay over for him that's great isn't it?
  2. John and Danny are my cousins. Would love to see either in red and blue but can't see it happening myself.
  3. Exactly. You've got to have mentors in place.
  4. The last thing we need is more draft picks. Unless you're going to get a comparable mature age player to help our young ones develop, I reckon we hang onto him.
  5. What is it that everyone loves about Cloke? I'd rather see us chasing a slick outside mid, even if we have to wait a year or two for them. Would hate to think we threw too much at Cloke and missed an opportunity for a good mid.
  6. Spencer was brilliant today. Does so well below his knees for a guy his size.
  7. Just how good will Nic Naitanui become? About half as good as Jack Watts will be.
  8. Sellar's a tough one. He has size and moves pretty well but his hands are just terrible. He drops so many easy marks. I think we need his size this week but I reckon his selection will always be a horses for courses type affair.
  9. If we were playing half decent, the guy would be a shoe in for the Coleman. I reckon he should stay forward.
  10. I reckon this is overstating the effect of supporters on the playing group. Melbourne supporters have always been self deprecating. If all you heard from your colleagues in your workplace were whispers of your complete lack of ability, do you think this would have a positive or negative effect?
  11. Totally agree with that, Brisbane seemed to have every pack situation surrounded with guys waiting for the ball to come out. It didn't matter which team won the ball initially, the ball was always going to be sharked by these outside mids. How does this happen?
  12. I've noticed throughout the pre-season and against the Lions, that we seem to have an issue where opposition teams are hoarding within a 20 metre radius around packs while our blokes burrow in. Regardless of who wins the ball in the contest, the ball ends up in opposition hands. Is this an illusion? Are they spreading that much quicker? It just seems as though we're really strong in the packs and win the ball 90% of the time but, frustratingly, once the congestion recedes, the weight of numbers is with the opposition.
  13. I'm not jumping ship yet, I'll stick with our list for the time being. Richmond don't have a key defender. Massive holes in their back line. We're doing badly, it's frustrating, but I reckon we'll turn the corner at some stage this year.
  14. Spot on. There's usually a concensus on the value of most young draftees. It's what happens after they arrive that is key.
  15. Totally agree with you rjay and Moloney, though he certainly wasn't able to shake the tag today, has done in the past and shouldn't be considered expendable, one game into the season. He has enough credit up to get another crack next week.
  16. 6 - Magner 5 - Grimes 4 - Trengove 3 - Watts (I feel wierd about this one, sublime skill level but found myself cursing him many times for shirking contests, if this guy finds some fire in the belly, he could be anything) 2 - Jones 1 - Howe (Seemed to be a dose of stick spray away from a big game today)
  17. Davey doesn't put his body on the line when he has to which I could handle if he still had the turn of speed but he's lost that so he's a goner. Green is border line. Probably on his last legs but I'd play him for the first half of this year to find out for sure. Moloney is an integral part of our side and as has been stated, takes a tagger away from other mids.
  18. Never and I personally can't recall him being ever being reported.
  19. Junior could just be a bit of an enforcer for GWS. That hit seemed quite calculated. I would imagine they're not too fazed having him slide back into a more conventional coaching role for a couple of weeks, then come back and serve it up to someone else.
  20. I remember playing kick to kick in the backyard with my cousin. We'd toss a coin to decide which of us would be Lyon and who would be Stynes. Suffice to say the winner not only had the responsibilty of being a brownlow winner but also has to speak with a terrible Irish accent for the duration of the session. I've spent 50% of today fighting off tears and the other 50% smiling and reminiscing.
  21. C - Trengove VC - Rivers LG - Jones, Grimes, Green, Frawley, Moloney
