And condemn us to another 57 years of gloom. The new curse of CP5

Boot studiers left all clubs not long after the 64 GF as I recall. Our recruitment trading has been so [censored] bad it's insane. Corrected. Recruitment has been pretty great actually. And I suspect that Tom Morris Minor doesn't.
-
Mr Fence - i guess you would keep Jeffo though as captain and FF but clean out all the other players too.

only one established FACT in that list Who believes much from Tom Morris?

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson

He could well be part of our 2025 flag. -

BBB plays far deeper than Petty most of the time. But yes, more goals would be great but he is playing the rôle asked of him. -
i didn’t seem able to find the original clip of Max pre draft. Does anyone have a link?

We traded for BBB 2020 which worked well the following year. Who have we bypassed since, who is affordable and wanting to come our way? They don’t grow on trees. ✅ Yes, of course a bag of goals, and straight shooting would be great, but he has been plying as a high CHF most of the time. -
Thanks for my favorite weekly podcast. Disappointed of course, but far from devastated, and more optimistic about the future than many of my mates. Scoring from inside 50s seems a perennial problem. Is it too simplistic to ask those deep inside 50 to all spread out in different directions to both draw the defenders and to create one on one opportunities? As it is “kick it long” to a pack of 6 + players isn’t and hasn’t been working. Is this poor coaching or poor execution, or both? By mids or by forwards? Tony Lockett or Jason Dunstall would struggle in our forward line, and they didn’t have the luxury of 6-6-6. This is the biggest frustration for most of our fans, and probably our players.

Sure, but am I correct in thinking we got JVR instead?

Bump - just because we need to honor this superb leader.

A hopeful look at 2025 (from a pessimist)

Wouldn’t Jesse be handy now. Of the remains contenders, I would love to see him win a GF, much as I dislike the gimmes that have put GW$ in contention. -

Spargo 2 more years and has missed an entire season with an Achilles injury. Some but not many come back from that. Billings gets the ball but is a poor disposer and maybe decision making. Laurie may still become a best 26. McAdam a weird decision to give 3 years. Has given nothing. Plus Fullarton ? 2 years? What does he offer if he can’t get a game with Max injured? -
in more ways than one 🙄

I thought that he was given his weekly friendly punch in the guts. Of course no action from umpires and don’t expect the severely compromised unintelligent MRO to even look at it.
-
Was it true as posted on AFL site that JVR was tactically subbed out?? Surely that was one of the worst of a series of very poor use of the sub.
-
Thanks. Captain Hindsight. Did seem a very good option at the time.

Tracc seems a very determined focussed professional young man - yes, he has had a near death experience, but perhaps Neitschke will be proven right - "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger". Hope so anyway.
-
The guy was dragged across the country at very short notice, never having had an AFL level preseason. No surprise that he "hasn't performed" in a bottom level VFL side. How about reserving judgement until he has had an opportunity to get physically fit enough to compete at least at VFL standard, and if he does then give him a go.

Agreed - and it would be even better if they still held out some hope of top 8, and we could KO them.
-
Yes ma’am. Have done so as ordered.

Just as well as there are 6 months oe so before season 2025 kicks off … and if this year is the benchmark, we won’t be playing round zero. -
I tend to agree. Did he get a 2 or 3 year contract? Unfortunately either way only one has been served. One of the posts of the year. 👏👏👏 JVR is our only effective tall forward and we burn him out in the ruck - makes little sense. Yes, he is our second best ruck, but having him forward in the short, medium and long term is surely a higher priority.

I like it, but would prefer they played off for the wooden 🥄

And not only the Americans, but the great American imitators aka AFL Certainly 6 and above would be delighted.
