  1. What are you guys on? Open hand retaliatory push to the chest, maybe up to neck? Still, it is the MRP. Wait for 'Rance unintentional low impact - no case; Viney intentionally high impact - 3 weeks'.
  2. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-04-23/evans-flags-further-interchange-restrictions OMG why can't the AFL just leave the rules alone for a year or two. These guys who make changes for changes sake are just ruining our game. Cant we somehow get some democracy into our game? These morons are not elected and do not reflect he views of the general public.
  3. I have said it before and will repeat it. The whole pre match (for weeks) ritual of somehow equating what these young men, from whatever teams, playing a game of football to heroism of war just turns my stomach. To hear the word 'hero' used for footballers any day of the year is just plain overkill, but on ANZAC Day it is an insult to all who have been involved with war at any time and in any way, be it as military participants or as civilians caught in the sandwich. Sure it takes courage to take the field, but FFS nobody is shooting at them or bayoneting them and if they break a leg they are rushed off to have modern first class treatment immediately. Just get some perspective and cut the hype
  4. If Oliver has "general soreness" yes, don't play him. I am concerned though - it was he, in his first game, who started out final quarter recovery round 1, and he did some great clearance work v Norf as well. Then are we going to bring him back next week, as well as debuting CP5 in a game that should be winnable?
  5. Ernest - speaking from personal observation?
  6. I haven't noticed but surely if a don't argue hits the neck or face it must be penalized. Does it? Like many, I have looked at that Viney response time and time again and just love it. Even without what would now be interpreted as a rough dumping there is virtually no way that the tackled can get off a legitimate disposal.
  7. Bummer, but now at least we are developing depth. Likely that Trac will be ready for debut before he (VDB) gets back and if Trac delivers that will make it that little bit harder or him to get back in. Which whilst tough for VDB is great news for the club. ANB also likely to get up in that timeframe. GO DEES!
  8. Thanks Akum for that outline of zone defence, a concept that I have trouble coming to grips with. The overall equation concept is enlightening: rather than expecting to win every contest (hoping to is good: expecting to is unrealistic) the balance of good v bad is after all what determines the outcome. Good post.
  9. Sadly, with the MRP's continuing inconsistency, today Jack could be charged with a " too rough tackle" or whatever they call it, as his head hit the ground. IMO this was a great tackle.

  11. Did you forget Garlett? I think it was a year or two before his Downlow, but if I recall correctly ND had Woey on a HBF, then moved him into the midfield where he just took off. Perhaps a useful 'settling in / development' position in this case.
  12. Presumably the "him" here is Oliver All those who advocate him being "given a rest" is that a genuine rest, or a game at VFL? Could Brayshaw's "concussion" be code for giving him a full week off rom training and maybe playing? A good "excuse" for making space for a chastened Vince to return. I am sure he will "come into calculations" but unless and until injury forces the issue I suspect that he will stay at Casey to "learn his trade".
  13. "Touched, play on, play on" certainly could alter a defender's actions eg not going for a mark and risking being tackled and penalised in front of goal. Absolutely W R O N G call by the maggots to then call for a review of their 'in play' call. Not that I expect that whoever runs the umpiring section to admit they got it wrong mind you.
  14. I think what is running against Dawes is his chronic / recurring injuries making him an unreliable option when others are steaming ahead. No doubt if his ongoing fitness and availability were a bit more certain he would be secure for a few more years, but other than the fantastic support, encouragement and guidance he by all accounts offers the young tall forwards at training he is actually a passenger on the list. It will be interesting come list naming time, especially if numbers and salary cap are very tight Any chance of some sort of assistant coaching / formal mentoring rôle?
  15. I recall reading that he was - if so he should be rested, that is not play at all, not have a 'rest' at Casey. Could explain his (relative to 2015) lesser performance. Oliver is a beast and steadied the ship when pressured yesterday - must stay v Toiges. If Matt Jones misses through injury he will be very unlucky and could struggle to get back in. He has performed his role this year far beyond the expectations of most.
  16. Hunt - quite impressive debut
  17. I don't think Jeffy will be ready for a few weeks and there is no need to rush rushing him. But Vince should squeeze some unlucky bugger out.
  18. I too was concerned having a first and a second gamer on the HBF. Both awaited themselves well. Congratulations!
  19. Regardless of the mantra of not changing a winning team, Vince can only make the team stronger (and I suspect he will be both embarrassed and chastened) : the big question is which very unlucky player will miss out? sounds as if Trengove is banging at the door, if "match fit".
  20. Yes Selection will be interesting next week Vince to return, Trengove must be starting to press and CP5 getting closer - anyone know his VFL game time today? Got a shed load of possessions I hear
  21. The Flight of the Valkeries Didnt see it all but liked both his and Hunt's games...the future looks bright.
  22. Clueless umpiring. Called touched play on then want a score review just plain incorrect
  23. Only seen a few moments but from what I have seen H stands for headless chook.
  24. Well at least it isn't Jab Wasn't there some talk of him being gifted a TV rôle this year? They do look full of run. Will e hard to keep up with IF we beat the Toiges though the Saints will have no worries at all. Not with the Dees trying for two in a row ☹️
  25. Once again we will be playing next week against a team that is heavily under the pump....a 'line in the sand' game for them. About time we learned to kick them when they are down, like we have been on the receiving end for so bloody long. Go Dees. Just do it ✔️
