Rather, it shows how little respect MFC have earned. Dropping 'should win' games time and time again must stop.
-
It will also determine to a large extent just how the long suffering following will look at the remainder of the season: hard hitting and hopefully big wins will assure good attendances, whilst another round 2 farce will see us playing to near empty stands.

Now in your day Barrie old Norm would never ever allow complacency, especially against Essendon or Collingwood, would he. I imagine if any player did appear to take a opposition lightly he would spend a long time in the seconds.

Damo Barrett has Melbourne in the gun
monoccular replied to Leoncelli_36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Un. Don't worry. The AFL clearly ranks alleged tanking more seriously than using illegal peptides. They reward teams found guilty of peptide use with top up players, and prime time games at prime venues. Clearly we did the wrong thing: joked about tanking instead of getting on the hard stuff, and of course destroying or hiding records. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 4
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I guess, on history, MFC do not do well in matches they are expected to win. Will the team make that change this weekend? It is up to them. -
And I have to say that most of this inconsistency is due to mental issues, not talent. Hell. Just do it guys. We are sick and tired of weak efforts.
-
Adam you cynic. Surely you haven't ever seen a MFC team going into a "should win" match, not switched right on, have you? ? And recent MFC teams seem to do so well at tagging the likes of Harvey, Merritt (x2) etc ??? A big challenge for the coaching panel to get those vital match ups just right.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 4
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope that at least some players and others at the club view this forum. You guys let your long suffering fans and supporters, the club, and yourselves down big time by taking the EssenDrug game as a foregone conclusion. How about just beginning to regain our trust by playing four quarters of hard, uncompromising footy like you did from late in the first quarter last week? If you do what you did round 2 nobody will ever trust you again. JUST DO IT! -
When did VDB do his ankle? Or was it a week or two back maybe?
-
Not sure that I agree that he is that bad, but what a brilliant simile for use in other contexts.

One of many things I love about Max's game is when he gets the hit out, often to advantage, he then doesn't stop, instead offering the shepherd or if not a clean possession to his 'rover' then goes in and gets it himself. I can't recall seeing that in any MFC (and indeed in very few others) ruckman since Jimmy.

And someone else gets an opportunity Not good but move on

Just as well we are playing footy and not chess.

Mitch King out for year with ruptured ACL
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
dazzle Unlke some here I tend to agree. Sure it is far better never to do an ACL, nobody can deny that, but given that it has happened our now professionally run club can and no doubt will help him both with his physical rehab, and his overall footy development. There are lots of things he can do re general, upper body and core strength in the gymnasium and the pool, whilst not using his knee. Lots to learn from observing and listening, and remaining involved So, provided his surgery and his rehab go to plan, whilst a big setback it should not be the total disaster that some see it to be. -
One of my pet hates is players who drop their head running into a player preparing to tackle or block, in effect head butting their midriff. As a matter of player safety this must be stopped, and IMO the player, regardless of if they are 'taken high' or not should be penalized every time. It would soon stop. If it continues there will be a broken neck some time, with tragic consequences and huge guilt for the recipient of the hea

When does Petracca get unleashed?
monoccular replied to The Sailing Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
KI could envisage Brayshaw, Petracca and Trengove coming in one at a time over the next few weeks. Most unlikely to introduce more than one each week. -
That would, assuming no other changes, leave two first years on HBF - is that too much risk? ANB would seem a better option, freeing BK to spend more time in the midfield.

Same or opposite side? Unlucky. -
Probably in the hands of their Integrity Officers ?

Well, it is getting into late April. Maybe they are warming up their rhetoric for the "wonderful heroes" from Collingwood and EssUndone "upholding the Anzac spirit" on Anzac Day. Hearing that actually makes me spew, not that I will because I do not watch or listen to EssUndone games. All it does is indicate how little the commentariat know about the horrors of war.

Another example of umpires either not knowing the rules, or enforcing them selectively was when JW4 took that mark close to the goalpost early in Q3. Two Norf defenders held him after he was awarded the mark. If a player is handled after a mark it should be 50, yet they chose to ignore that. Sure he kicked a goal so it did not effect the result or the score, but I would have little doubt that if two MFC defenders grabbed Choke next weekend in exactly the same circumstances he would be awarded 50 bringing him onto the goal line.

By all accounts ANB got a lot of the ball and was close to BOG Sadly our team appears to lack the mental strength to beat teams 'they should beat' And that must stem from poor 'culture' And that can only continue if those running the club allow it to Roos said that (as I recall) several players took EssUndone too lightly - yet they were apparently forgiven......heads should roll if that sort of thing happens There is no God in demonland......just the demonic curse of poor old Norm.
-
A Norf player, one of Scott's boys, Harvey's teammate staging for a free? No. Would never happen.

I know Buckley is deluded, but why would he be concerned that MFC could put two decent games together in succession?
