  1. 6 CP5 5 ANB 4 Max 3 JV7 2 Windsor 1 May
  2. Once again we came out and could not hit a disposal in the first quarter. This is becoming a habit. Is there an explanation? Very proud of the comeback but just a bit too late. As always incredibly thankful to the three of you for your (usually) calm and reasoned analysis.
  3. We all know that the AFL are total hypocrites about the head being sacrosanct. They pick and choose when to crack down. They are as disgraceful an organisation as FIFA and the IOC.
  4. Appalling clear bias, NB #22 who always screws us, but we did lose it in the first quarter.
  5. But surely the mid season draft is surely different than the national and rookie drafts. I would see it as absolutely role / needs driven
  6. Mmmmm. The Duke of Windsor didn’t really commit himself to his job to the extent required of the modern AFL player, especially what we want of any Demon player. He was distracted by outside influences that affected his performance. However he did I guess have quite a few Demons of his own.
  7. It of course doesn’t account for the unpaid frees - we could start a book on how many throws Cripps will get away with Thursday.
  8. Are you referring to a few quacks selling snake oil, aka “supplements”, to gullible ex AFL coaches, who crashed and burned like too many Lancaster and Flying Fortresses? I remember being pretty happy the night Frittata kicked 6 though I wasn’t able to see him do it. Maybe a repeat, Bailey, please. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair. Charles Dickens Tale of Two Cities Dicko could well have been describing a typical season on Demonland (and MFCSS)
  9. I must say I thought it was said in a light hearted way, given that it seems there was very little training anyway.

I can't find the date on this - is it April 1st? He will be 35 next year and now injury prone.
  11. It also fails to take into account who the various teams have played. Playing North, Hawthorn and WCE already will give a far greater opportunity to be in the top right corner than having played only one of these.
  12. Interesting observations. The late Alan Jeans was once asked what was the most important attribute he looked for in a player - his answer was "balance".
  13. I am sure we won't get any concessions for Smith, but certainly will for Angus

Well that is ludicrous and emphasises yet again the blatant hypocrisy of the AFL in their "head is sacrosanct" charade. And, isn't high contact (or in the back for that matter) in a ruck contest a free kick? I have certainly seen it paid.
  15. So is this the starter post for the “Bowey traded” thread? 🤗 Let him go under the radar … do we care? And he wasn’t playing for the free when he was legged in front of goal but ignored by the maggot. If the dissent rule was interpreted as it was when first introduced there would have been at least four 50 meters against those whiners.
  16. Cats fans are bloody spoiled - the only team (other than the NSW & QLD teams) who don’t have to share a home ground and get to always have 90+% of the crowd. And further their ground is not standard AFL shape which further enhances their home ground advantage.
  17. Wells - do you mean a rest or a game at Casey? I thought that I read that McAdam had concussion. Please enlighten us, VFL Casey watchers.
  18. CP5 has been heavily tagged especially when Oliver was out / below par, yet he was still very influential in the second half when the game was won. And who was his opponent and what did they do?

Is a ruckman kneeing a 7 foot opponent in the back of the head in a ruck contest "high contact"? No surprise that the umpire didn't award a free on the night, but is this reportable?
  20. Paywalled. But even the title is truth enough
  21. Maybe BBB was going to be genuinely rested this week - probably should have been last week. Perhaps Tony. But is it just a coincidence that Jefferson has appeared to have had one of his better games when BBB and Shack were not playing? And how much time did Fullerton play forward?
  22. Is there any explanation and or concern regarding our poor conversion in 2nd and 3rd quarters - 2 goals 12 behinds from plenty more inside 50s? Was it a "one off" - a combined 5 goals 15 by half time and a goal free second quarter? Maybe just mutual pressure? * IF Bowey is deemed ready who goes out for him? I wonder if it would be Billings, maybe to sub, with Woey moving to share wing duties. Unused sub Laurie probably needs a full Casey game. And how good was Windsor's chase down tackle - and his conversion. He is having a far greater impact so early in his career than many could imagine or even dream of. Finally Harrison Petty seems to have found his mojo - his contested marking was the difference in the end. Looking forward, as always, to the insightful and positive analysis from you all. *addendum: Just checked Wheloratings - second quarter had the lowest pressure ratings for both teams …. so can we deduce that the zero goal quarter was NOT due to pressure. What other explanation?
  23. 6. Lever 5. Gawn 4. Petty 3. Langdon 2. Windsor 1. Oliver

It is hard to think of a better one. And just looking at the Frittata sealer, how much was that due to Petty's incredible closing and carefully judged spoil? Not recorded as a goal assist but it certainly was. Probably Harrison's best game - even despite his 6 goal haul v Tigers last year. His work up the ground was impressive and vital.
  25. As I have said more than once before the VFL is an absolute dog’s dinner as a development / support / back up competition, and the stuffed suits at AFLHQ don’t give a rat’s [censored].
