Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
Yet i am sure the AFL get very angry when some people suggest that they may be a corrupt boysâ club. JD - same with me. 2023 is the first time in my memory (a baby boomer who remembers the glory days) that I have not watched (since the time all have been televised) or attended any PF or GF. I usually attend a few neutral games at the G, but havenât even watched one on TV. Occasionally look at parts of replays especially when Geelong, or either CFC get done in a close or controversial finish. They, through their smug promotion and protection of their favourites, have lost me.

NON-MFC: Round 12
Geelong and Carlton seem never to get a 50 paid against for dissent, and it is often quite demonstrative and abusive.

CASEY: Rd 10 vs Coburg
By all reports (havenât seen a Casey game this year) AMW is starting to knock the door down. Hope he gets a gig soon - he could be a risk of itchy feet if he doesnât. Sadly Fullarton doesnât seem to have been a worthwhile trade - if he cannot get a game as a forward / ruck back up when we right now are in dire need of both then surely he never will.

Key Forward Wanted.
I thought on Sunday how dispiriting it must be to play in front of a cheer squad of maybe a dozen scattered fans. I am sure WCW would give him a warm welcome.

Vale John Beckwith
Fond memories of #30 defending solidly and kicking down the line. These days he would get repeatedly pinged for âinsufficient intentâ by the magic mindreaders in fluoro - the old fashioned white maggots never did. ValĂ©

Whispering in the Umpires Ears
MT64 - they have already lost me. I used to watch multiple games each week on TV, and even attend "neutral" games at the G. No more. Occasionally I watch the end of a game especially if Geelong, Collingwood or Carlton are getting done, but otherwise it is only MFC. I love footy, but hate the AFL especially when they go on about integrity etc. PS - now 2235 Thursday night - didn't even realise that there was a game on tonight. That is how much I despise the organisation known as AFL. But who would educate them? PS - does Nathan Brown update the odds to them during the game??

Welcome to Demonland: Luker Kentfield
IF he gets a run this season, barring another catastrophic run of injuries, I would be very pleasantly surprised. Casey has a developing ruck - Verrall but a competent back up would be handy. Good to hear - he could try out for MCC Cricket and Lacrosse teams, in his "spare time". And Cowboy Neale played when? The 1960s game was very different, almost unrecognisable, to 2024. "Trained" twice a week that is had a few kicks and ran a few laps before a few beers, and a smoke for some I certainly like his aggression and he seems to like laying heavy tackles too. I hope he can get to the required fitness level. 6 months seems odd, to resettle a player across the continent. Do we know if extension is an option without going to the draft?? As above, love his aggression and tackling - yes I know it is a highlight reel. Already ahead of Schache and possibly FullArton (though I have not seen him in action).

Welcome to Demonland: Luker Kentfield
Thanks for clarifying. IMVHO Schache and BBB will definitely leave, and as mentioned somewhere earlier despite Tommy's miraculous resurrection I suspect he may want to retire while in the ones and not the twos. Tomlinson, especially if Tom leaves, could well be offered a reprieve. Fullerton I guess will remain as this forum's bunny. If Luker Kentfield shows any development, Fullerton will go lower in the pecking order.

Welcome to Demonland: Luker Kentfield
Didn't see greasy arms though. Kolt and Filthy Luker can combine for our record breaking 2025,6,7,8,9 flags I would be very disappointed were he to go, after starring for us, to Sydney. But in all seriousness, welcome - but be warned that there are posters lurking here who will call you a spud, loser etc if you don't become a superstar within a couple of years.

Changes to âHolding the Ballâ Rule
"Well know the rule works if Cripps can no longer do 720degree turns while looking to throw dish off a handball" There. Corrected. If you get tackled correctly. One of my big beefs is when guys get ridden into the ground, or have a pile of opponents dive onto them, they get pinged for HTB. Correct tackle should be the KPI, otherwise a free to the guy who makes the play. Every time. .... and the umpires adjudicate that distance estimation so well, don't they? Clarry says "hi". Cripps says "thanks".

McVee midfield
When we develop a replacement for McVee in defence. Bowey? AMW?? Howes?? At the moment I wouldn't (and I very much doubt if Goody would) tinker with our defensive unit too much. Judd is one of the keys.

McAdam really needs to get his act together before Melksham becomes available. If he does there will be some very nice selection dilemmas. I would think, given that he could justifiably have just retired after he did his ACL towards the twilight of his career, saying thanks for the memories, but instead chose to labour on, he will come back full of fire and enthusiasm in a last bid for that elusive flag. Bring it on Melks. Traeger Park is usually a quite hard surface, though a bit of rain several days out may soften it a little, but it could never (2023 excepted) be regarded as soft.

Anyone with talent who wants to fit into a defensive system would surely be interested in coming to the Dees. Much as I am absolutely chuffed at TMcD's Lazarus season 2024, I strongly suspect that he will call it a day, as a great servant, at the end of the season. One thing (vide supra) is certain, is that TMcD will not be moving clubs. 90% retiring IMO. Tommo may well see this opening as his golden opportunity to get a permanent (as much as anything in footy is permanent) role in an excitingly dour backline.
