  1. Yes. This year Geelong were really excited at huge wins in the final two rounds, against easy beats — didn’t really prepare them for finals though. .... yet it appears that they can ?
  2. This just stinks of Gillon playing favorites; poor misunderstood drug cheats.
  3. What a joke of an “organization” .... Gil and his band of merry men are really a bunch of amateurs running a multi million dollar business. They have what about 6 weeks to do one thing, arrange the “draw” or fixedture more like it .... and they can’t get it right! Clowns ... though that is a bit unfair on clowns, as they at least are generally funny.
  4. I Tragic is a word used far too freely in footy parlance (missed a goal, lost a close game, lost a close GF) but this brings it into perspective. Unfortunately too many young & ex Demons have died far too young. Broadbridge, Flower, Stynes, Wight, Sylvia to name a few. Those are tragic.
  5. ??? !!! Leave the numbers alone. Hurrah moving from #48 jinxed him!
  6. Is it not too late for us then??
  7. One could add Preuss / Gawn as tall forward depth ..... I suspect that Goodwin and his team will try to work out how to use them as tandem rucks and forward (or defensive) extras. If it works out it could be very challenging for defence. Can anyone comment on Preuss’ forward defensive skills and ability / willingness to chase.
  8. I rate him a D H
  9. Hasn’t Cerra signed on to end 2021? We definitely need to start sending the Dockers back some “desperately homesick” tales of Andrew Brayshaw. His family (and no doubt his dentist) are in Melbourne and he needs to get back. Also loves playing golf with his brother in the Sandbelt. Values it as far more important than playing under Ross Lyon.
  10. Nasher - you spend too much time on this forum.
  11. With another full preseason Spartacus may well become the crumbing small forward (one who applies pressure and can tackle despite his lack of size) that we hoped Jeffy would become. And hopefully Hunt can with the help and guidance of our coaching staff become a quick outside mid / winger. He has shown he can win the ball and break lines; needs to brush up his disposal, decision making and awareness
  12. Not exactly certain why the censored word was, but whatever it is I suspect that it is spot on. He is a [censored] Did he mention his own success rate at list building at more then one club? chook - Did you forget to add -wit?
  13. I couldn't restrain my pedantry: strictly speaking this is monarchism, not politics.
  14. Smokes dope and rages all night at nightclubs. Assaults taxi drivers.
  15. Ahhhh .... Sean Wight. Literally that clip brought a tear to the eye. Life can hand out very cruel hits. The work "tragic" is so often overstated in footy, but Sean's premature passing was so cruel. Courageous on and off the field, and an amazing learner and athlete. #27 would be well taken by May. A lot to live up to.
  16. It could be a good idea, and a strong gesture were Jones to voluntarily step down as captain. Could save embarrassment if he happened to be overtaken in the best on field 22 during the year. (Casey found that out to their chagrin in the GF). I suspect he is strong enough to recognise that succession planning is vital to ongoing success.
  17. monoccular replied to Deeman's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why is this on the footy board?
  18. 381 cm !! Do we still need Max, Bradke or Preuss?
  19. Might need to sharpen up his disposal and his set shots. Is Duursma a descendent of Jamie Duursma from the Demon teams of the 80s-90s? I seem to remember him doing a great job on Brereton on a big game. And Valente / Valenti ? Related to Shane - not sure if it is exactly the same name.
  20. Midfielders are not all insiders. We need an outside mid and I suspect that KK is that designation
  21. Not underestimating Jesse’s value, but IIRC we did win more big games without him than with him.
  22. Serious question - are there actually AFL rules that state numbers must be single or double digits only? (If not, I am 100% certain that some would be created on the run)
  23. WERRIDEE - every successful team has depth, as most other than Richmond 2017 have injuries during the season. Those with depth survive; those without, whither.
  24. In addition to your observations, Salems Lot, we are approaching the stage where oppositions will need to adapt to us as much as we have had to do to them in the past. Exciting times for us.
  25. Jesse did not kick a lot of goals when it mattered most. Preuss and / or Max will quite likely spend quite a bit of time up forward when a tall marking option is needed. They would both be difficult match ups. The recruiting department obviously saw the writing on the wall for Jesse either this year or next, and felt that despite his undoubted talent his absence could be covered, as it was in the vital last 4 victories of the year, and remembering that was without the added tall Preuss to share Max's ruck load and releasing him forward..
