  1. :-( and I would prefer the 9% of being premiers :-) Statistics are only correct 60% of the time and are wrong another 60% !
  2. OMG your constant negativity is really becoming boring.
  3. This is, or should be, Sam’s big opportunity and if he grasps it he has a huge future. He reads the ball well, marks it at the top of his flight, and is an excellent kick at goal. Also can give a good team handball. Hope he gets the gig and proves the critics wrong.
  4. One man's misfortune is another's opportunity: grasp it with both hands Sam and run with it. Looking forward to you having a chance to prove the critics wrong.
  5. ... and 55% would disagree, 60% don't care, and another 33.79% will make up their mind in the next month or so.
  6. There MUST be data available re type of shoe and ground hardness. IF necessary we need to urgently engage a podiatrist to get to the bottom of this. Ground? Footwear? Training loads? We have doctors, surgeons, physios posting on this site - any podiatrists / exercise physiologists? Look on the bright side Jaded - think of the price of finals tickets you will be saving :-((
  7. So, we will have to prove that we are a 6 goal (or given our profligate record a 4 goal 12 behind or 3.18) better team than Weagles
  8. Do Hawthorn still do the Kokoda camp / treck? Did it start with Clarkson and coincide with their period of dominance, that started earlier and lasted longer than most expected? I wonder if anyone has sought Lewis’ opinion.
  9. So did you see the Brayshaw hit two hours before it happened ? Should have warned him he was about to be gaffed. ** actually two until DST But serious question for those who get their news from sources other than this site, what is actually being scanned? Back? Foot? ??
  10. Those of us who are old enough to remember 'the glory days' of the late 50s and early 60s remember tough, uncompromising players and a coach who knew they would win (at least most of the time) for their club, because they were the best and wanted to remain the best. The current generations of players, and coaching staff are actually just mercenaries who happen to wear our team colours but who with some exceptions just go through the motions. Of course they 'would like' to win, but do they feel 'the need' to win for the club and the fan base? I do not want to hear again this year how 'terribly cut up we all are' at stuffing up again. Talk is cheap and has been spouted out for decades - I want to see action.
  11. But Mr Coach said we would win a tough tight game against a top side ..... sometime. :-((((
  12. And as I recall, several more of our close losses were associated with periods of dominance with ZERO scoreboard pressure. Does Goodone acknowledge this? Does he address this? As above, it has cost us a guaranteed top 4 position, and quite possibly finals. What good is a healthy foot if one can't use it to kick straight??
  13. Presumably for you, ie gave you the sh1ts, and not for him.
  14. There must be stats available somewhere as to which umpires give how many frees to which clubs, and at which grounds. Presumably the AFL have these data but are too embarrassed to let them see the light of day.
  15. Is Greg Norman the goal kicking coach? Haven't seen choking like this since Greg was in his prime. Seriously, this off season, which sadly may well start in 2 weeks, the team needs to spend a hell of a lot of time kicking for goal and setting up for goals. Failure to capitalise on first quarter dominance has cost us probably over 4 or maybe 5 games this season, which is THE difference between top 2 or 4, and missing out yet again. Frankly if we do miss and the "leaders" come out and say how cut up they are, I will spew. All talk, no action.
  16. Firstly, I just love what Jonesey has given to the club, through thick and thin, mainly thin. But he is nearing the end, unless he puls off a remarkable turnaround in the next 2, (or hopefully 3,4,5,6) games but Jack Viney needs to concentrate completely on getting on the park, getting the ball and delivering it with elan to either a teammate, or preferably the goal umpire, so I don't really think he can be sole captain 2019. A huge dilemma, of the club's own creation. Max would be my choice as captain, but "dropping" Jack would be an about face that I doubt the club would be prepared to make.
  17. What a load of crap 19 shots to13 and still 3 goals diwn how melbournian
  18. Lost all heart here What a frustrating team to follow. 16 shots to 9 and 21 down
  19. Just bloody well win the next 6 on the trot. Simple solution. ?? so, Cats ... that is what it is like to lose close games. Get used to it. How good is their “super mid field”? Or was it dream team? Thanks Gil.
  20. Probably couldn’t recall the McMullin one because he lost count of those he biffed. Mongrel.
  21. Matthews in this day and age, like Whitten and Dyer for that matter, could not become a “legend of the game” as he would not be playing very many games at all. I wonder what McMullin and Bruns think as they walk past that bronze statue outside the G?
  22. The AFL and the umpiring Department should (but won’t) look into the consistent and ongoing disparity of home ground frees to WCE and to Adelaide. An analysis of which umpires give more to WCE in particular should be possible as there has to be a distribution. Find which umpires are too scared to call it as it is then those umpires should not umpire games there.
  23. Is Dom is good - best form I have seen from him. Well done and keep it up.
  24. Have we really only played the Swans once a season since 2010? Integrity of the draw?
