Am glad you added the rider of experience. And agree there is a big difference between commentator and journalist. While I would agree no-one really hates Melbourne, Journalists are grudge holders on a par with politicians and have seen alot of unprofessional behaviour from that cadre, that has at times potted Melbourne as a consequence. -
Everyone get around DemonOx, really feel for you mate. Mark

Thanks, yes phone I guess. Was Ticketek the same crew that did tickets for the Metro

Of the 3 I have mentioned, I did see us smash Carlton in 2018. Just hoping being vaccinated helps.

It is a great tool for comparisons I checked at SW at 2018 vs JK 2010 averages https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=12&playerStatus2=A&tid2=19&type=A&pid1=4171&pid2=1610&fid1=P&fopt1=2018&fid2=P&fopt2=2010 as I felt that was a fairer median, and without doubt JK better, however SW not far behind. My point is that JK didn't explode out of the blocks like a Hogan or Cameron but went on to have a substantial career. I really think last week was a step in the right direction, even before the 2 goals, he kept trying and didn't drop his head. I haven't seen him sulk the way Hogan and others have done, I reckon he does have the right attitude. And when I think of him being close and just missing his marks, I think of the difference with (poor)Travis Cloke, who (while he had already become a fully established and impressive full forward) once his method was off, never looked like getting it back and drove his supporters mad (EAD Collingwood). Weid looks different, it looks like his form is rising not dropping away. Totally agree it is a matter of perception (and frustration) .

Supporting the club - I have been a paid up member (plus family memberships) for 28 of the last 30 years, I have continued being a member even though in the last 15 years I have only had the chance to attend 3 games. I wish to make sure that I can attend the Grand Final if we make it. I was unable to garner any help from the ticketek website. Sadly I have let my MCC membership lapse as well I didn't see myself retiring in Australia, and might realistically use it 10 times in the next 20 years (I should live so long). All though it does sting.

Anyone else had trouble from overseas purchasing membership through ticketek? Am getting really bored with the non working links, was about to drop a bundle of cash on upgrades that I will never use as well.

So pretty much turning my year and family on end, to get back to Victoria for finals, which is hellish considering I am in Sudan, missus and baby are in Djibouti (and have French passports), the 2nd kid is in Cyprus (the one that actually likes football) and in the middle of changing jobs. The cost of the tickets will be fractional compared to the logistics around this circus and I am pretty much using every credit ever earned and mortgaging future ones for the remainder of my life. But I cannot cope with the idea of missing a successful campaign. Even if we fall short, I still feel the 2018 prelim game will not be repeated. But COVID is only part of the problem, My deep fear(MFCSS) is that the Norm Smith Curse has a new and ironic variant, make the Dees really good, then cancel the season.

You are joking right? his touch is coming, but size, he is already a baby dinosaur.

Pretty please when posting from the Hun, could you just paste the names/relevant bits, becomes boring trying to go around the paywall.

I reckon our current run of form, just mighty be worthy of a mid-season draft to the banner, just saying... Additions: Tmac Lever Salem Rivers the whole bloody team... [smoky} Burgess?

Totally agree, was going to post the same, the fact that he got where he needed to be is very promising, and he is not being rebounded against, and the ball does go to ground for a small forward effort. And for all the 'drop weid folks', I am willing to bet that opposition coaches scouting the game, would have seen that he is a fraction away from being deadly dangerous, and he will continue to draw defenders, no-one will be taking him lightly. Patience grasshoppers, Kennedy took time too.

On Gawn , when I watched again I noticed the marks more, so you have a fair point, but the 1st quarter clearances with which we had a brilliant quarter, seemed in no small part to Max who was tapping much better than the last few weeks, also while he fluffed a few kicks I was well impressed with him picking the ball up and taking it on, seemed more on, hence my comments. Pickets did more 1%ers than I could count and at one stage split the contest with four dogs. That and two bounces while running down the wing with a tackler in hot pursuit had me frothing at the mouth. So on your 2nd point I demur, he did basics well, just missed a couple of moments for goal, but his pressure was a part of the win.

For sure the IQ is there, but what about most natural? I can't make up my mind, torn between Oliver and Kozzie, and would entertain arguments on another half dozen.

You are right, counter punching is a thing, while it is fundamentally different sport, it doesn't escape my attention that the most transformative thing for Liverpool in their drought breaking, title season, was Virgil van Dijk and counterattacking on the turnover. Too many parallels to ignore I reckon, with our defensive game. Hopefully as successful as well. Not lost how fit Liverpool were, as well as buying into the defensive role playing of players, who have/had a history of being prima donnas.. -
New kick in rule has helped Dees

In my 51 years, Travis Johnstone occasionally nailed the kick in, but the rest of the time, my fingernails have suffered 80's90's00's10's20's etc, totally happy for first time ever with kick ins. -
6. Oliver 5. McDonald 4. Salem 3. Lever 2. Langdon 1. Neal-Bullen

Nothing to argue about re the hate, just saying they have been stinking it up for a bit now. They are still years away now though.

To be fair, they have had a pretty good run with trading, Patton and Scully could have gone differently easily. As much as I loathe Jeff, they have had an awesome football department for a long time, personally I am not throwing rocks at them yet, they might be good enough to get going again in a few years, even with an anchor like Jeff at the club. Happy for them to be a basket case bit it is a bit like criticising the All Black's, just admit they are good and move on.
