What a centreline! The speed of Bluey Adams, the high marking ability of Brian Dixon and the silky skills of Hassa Mann. I was hoping that Sam Blease would be another Bluey Adams but my optimism is starting to fade. I would love to be wrong on this one though.

You beat me to it Daisycutter. Don must have come on very early in the game. Fancy having the players of the calibre of Vagg and Williams as reserves! What a team.

Alexis Georgiou can accept reprimand

Can't believe you are serious. One instance? Can you name all the others you talk about? Surely every player has accidentally got in the way of a team mate during their playing career. -
Nic Nat criticisms starting to build

Stephen Hill is a beauty and Daniel Rich has been a proven performer. -
I'm so glad you are not a selector!

However, it was against poor old Frankston, the easybeats in the competition. Maybe Christian has to show the same form against a COMPETITIVE team.

Hawkins is huge! Didn't he get easily brushed aside in his early years? Not now.
-
I thought Dawes moved very freely and picked up 17 possessions. Bad luck he didn't have his kicking boots on.
-
Slightly off the topic but it was strange that umpire Leigh Fisher, an ex St Kilda player, was one of the umps in the Saints clash with the Bombers. One would think it would be prudent to give him non Saints games. I am not suggesting he would be dishonest but ................ what would the opposition supporters think! Actually though it could work against his old team. I have umpired high school footy games and I have been told on many occasions that the number of free kicks paid to the opposition was far greater than to my school. A case of not wanting to be seen as biased.
-
Should have been a free to Jack. His opponent was holding him when he was no where near the ball. He just grabbed him and slung him out of the way. There USED to be a 'holding the man' rule.
-
I'm always worried when Jonesy is at the bottom the pack(yet again!) that an opposition player will mistake his cranium for the ball and be penalised for kicking in danger.
-
Where is RR? He is madly in love with Nic Nat and worships him. Must be the dreadlocks! NN is an athlete but lacks real football skills. I have watched him over the years in Perth and didn't star even at WAFL level. Give me Jack Watts every time.

Jonesy ( Nathan) plays with the same passion as the great Ron Barassi. What higher praise can I give this lion hearted man?

Thought Watts was much more physical today. Did some good tackles and was his usual skilful self. Wish people would get off Jack's back.

What about a team full of Rodney Grinters?

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Laurie Mithen would disagree. -
Glad to get a game but I'm out of position. I built my reputation as a champion half forward flanker.

Watts wrong with your thinking here Jumbo?

SMALL MERCIES - POST MATCH DISCUSSION
Bobby McKenzie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree, They will be fired up and I bet Judd will return to play us. had, including in the 70's and it's hard to believe that the club has managed to stuff so many early selections and recruit so many pea hearts. I watch these guys play with no spirit no genuine heart and in half the team's case, no talent. It must disgust the players like Vince and Cross who have come from clubs that think putting in every week is what you are supposed to do. I am ashamed of the Melbourne Football Club. Shame on you Robbie F. The real Robbie F. would be disappointed in you. I am DISAPPOINTED with our present situation but I will never be ASHAMED of the team I love. My car is adorned with Demons stickers, car seat covers and MFC number plates. I am proud to let people know who I barrack for. -

Welcome Sad Dee. I hope your sadness will eventually go away one day. You raise a good point. One would think that being good enough to make the big league one would have to be naturally competitive. Surely it is not something a coach has to teach. Too many of our boys are competitive for sections of the game and switch off for a while. I guess it is then up to the coach to remind them of this and get them back to being fiercely competitive.

Gee, that 2-3 weeks never changes. I'm sure I read 2-3 weeks 6 weeks ago. What is the real time frame?
-
Very short memory Toorak.

Good for you deeko! You make very important points and those who cannot see them don't really know their footy very well. You are a loyal supporter and not a knocker. To suggest that our boys didn't try is absolute garbage. One only has to look at the CONTESTED POSSESSIONS count to see that our endeavour was first rate all day.
