  1. Exactly, he would be a great Football manager. Always had an excellent report with the players who played their guts out for him. I doubt though that he would consider returning to us after being dumped.
  2. Yes, well deserved Hassa. You were a champion half forward flanker along with Bob McKenzie and Barrie Vagg who won many games for the Dees. One of my favourites.
  3. You are right about Subi oval. We Demons sit behind the goals at the City end and you can't see a bloody thing when the ball is up the other end. Maybe my comment should have been related to Subi oval. Thinking back to my past experiences at the G no problems viewing the whole game. Now living in Perth Subi is the only ground I can attend. Still reckon Jack was OK though. Not dominating like he should.
  4. Just thought I should mention that watching on TV is MUCH clearer than being at the ground. You miss so much when the ball is far away from your position at the ground.
  5. 6. Dawes 5. N. Jones 4. Frawley 3. Rodan 2. Garland 1. Watts Special mention to Davey and Howe.
  6. I too, was not nearly as depressed today than I was with our 90 point loss to the Dockers last week. We showed flashes of really exciting footy and the form of Dawes was encouraging. Jack Fitzpatrick impressed me with his mobility and work rate. Pity he couldn't quite hold a few marks but that will come I'm sure. I like big Max but we must now give Fitzy a few games in a row to show his worth. Davey was outstanding with his pace, tackling and enthusiasm. Rodan added much more grunt to the midfield and backed up Jonesy well. Must keep in for at least three games in a row.
  7. Only a couple of years back Michael Voss labelled us as the next Powerhouse team of the AFL. What year Michael?
  8. Why is it so? When we were thrashed by the Gold Coast I was convinced that our players were not playing for their coach. The next week we were very competitive against Richmond and my thoughts changed to 'They ARE playing for their coach'. This weekend I go back to my thoughts after the Suns thrashing. We gave the Tigers a real run for their money and we were so insipid against the Dockers. What puzzled me and a lot of you was the fact that Richmond very nearly beat the Dockers on this very same ground! My daughter who is a Melbourne fan thanks to her father, but not a keen follower of football, said to me seriously after the game, "Why is it that whenever there is a bun fight for the ball in a pack a Docker player almost always emerges with the ball and with a pin point pass finds a teammate further afield and away they go to score yet again?" it was a good question which I just couldn't answer. She was also shocked to hear her old man, so passionate about his beloved Demons for many decades, exclaim after yet another unforced turnover or dropped , unopposed mark, "They are pathetic, just pathetic!" Sadly, it was how I felt at the time. I was wearing my Melbourne colours and when leaving the ground some Docker supporters said sympathetically, " Don't worry mate they will come good one day." When that one day comes is anyone's guess. BUT I will never stop loving and following the Melbourne Football Club.
  9. Leave the ground in a state of disbelief, BUT I will treasure watching the disgusted looks on the faces of Dockers fans.
  10. What a lovely photo of Aaron and his family. Lets hope he can continue with the form he showed on Sunday versus the Tiges. He was so exciting in his early years with the Dees.
  11. A bit hard on Bate I reckon. He put in some good ones.
  12. Josh, our win loss ratio in that period was not as good as Geelong's but still pretty bloody good. Out of 150 games we won 116 lost 32 and drew 2.
  13. Good point BUT Collingwood's four flags in a row occurred way back in the '20's and 30's. No, they just can't bring themselves to speak well of the Dees.
  14. Hope you make a complete recovery mate. Best wishes.
  15. I know it happened a long time ago but it is surely something to hang your hat on as a loyal Demons supporter. The current Geelong team is being cited as being truly a great football team over a long period. Fair enough too as winning 125 games out of 151 is a wonderful effort BUT has any team got close to beating Melbourne's record over a ten year period from 1955 to 1964? MELBOURNE FC 1955 1st 1956 1st 1957 1st 1958 2nd ( Minor premiers) Grr! I still haven't got over losing that GF to the enemy. 1959 1st 1960 1st 1961 3rd 1962 4th 1963 3rd 1964 1st Yeah, 6 premierships and one runners up in a period of 10 years aint too bad I reckon. I know I am living in the past but it sure helps right now.
  16. So Melbourne defeated Freo ????????
  17. It is always great to watch Melbourne v Richmond games on TV. No clash jumpers needed and so easy to distinguish between the two in their TRADITIONAL jumpers. So very different.
  18. 6. Terlich 5. Davey ( Wonderful to be able to give him votes again) 4. Frawley 3. N. Jones 2. Garland 1. Magner
  19. Loved his fierce tackle in the second quarter after a bit of a wrestle and scuffle.
  20. Waiting for a Range Rover post on Nik Nat, his favourite AFL player! Still reckon JW will prove superior by the end of their careers. Skill versus athleticism.
  21. Luke Shuey is also a cheat playing for high tackles by dropping his head. Have a look over a season at the number of frees he gets. Umps certainly were sucked in by the crowd tonight.
  22. As you said, ridiculous. How about Dean Kent listed as fast falling after one game as a sub!!!!!!
  23. But did you not watch him in 2011? You can't suddenly lose ABILITY! People on this forum then were rating Trengove more highly than $cully well before he defected to the Giants. I must admit though I am puzzled at present.
  24. Thanks for the footage Chook. Wasn't it great to see Maxy getting right into it too. How about the look of amazement on Tappy's face when told he was reported? Will Umpire # 11 get a senior game next round? We will watch with interest.
