Ralph was a very good footballer and a great runner. He was in the Frankston Athletic Club where I was also a member. No one could keep up with him. He really attacked the footy at full speed and played an important role in the 1956 premiership. Ralph played for the Frankston Bombers and when Frankston played Hastings he was always given the tough task of playing on a guy by the name of John Coleman! Despite giving away 7 cms in height he curbed the Hastings champion keeping him reasonably quiet. He was a really pleasant, unassuming man who will be missed. My sympathy goes to his loved ones. RIP Yachter!

Peggy O'Neal born to be Tiger Queen

Thanks for that explanation America de Cali. I should know about that since my first name is Neil. Another variation of Neal and Neill. -

OLD DEE defend yourself from these cheeky pups! -
David Rodan wasn't too bad. At least he gave us some grunt.

I now live in the far west and don't keep up with club politics ( Except Melbourne's). I had a chuckle when I read an article by the new Richmond president Peggy O'Neal. When I was a kid living in Victoria in the fifties we used to sing songs about different teams. Some not too flattering! Older posters may remember. The Richmond one went like this; "She comes from Richmond I bet you a zac because her bloomers are yellow and black, Sweet personality, full of rascality, that's Peggy O'Neill." So the current Tiger president had all the inside running! Pity the spelling is different but it sounds the same.

Correct, and he hasn't been setting the world alight lately. Hardly got a touch last round.
-
Now he would be useful! Should get a regular game I would reckon.

He is everything you say Jaded and more! What a champion he really is. And what a champion TEAM we are becoming. We are truly back.
-
Also spoils. I always believed that the spoiler could not meet his opponent face on but had to turn his back as he attempted to spoil. It used to be called a charge.

Agree all the way. Jack is so very talented and is improving his aggression with every game. Sublime kicking skills.

Good one Jack I'm glad you were cleared without requiring the services of David Grace. -
The Jack Viney bump that never was!
Bobby McKenzie replied to Matt Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
We certainly owe David Grace a huge thank you, no doubt about that. Interesting that he has a solid sporting background including footy which would have helped him prepare for the hearing. By the way Jack, which athletics club did you belong? I competed for Frankston many moons ago. -
The Jack Viney bump that never was!

I'm amazed but thrilled at this momentous decision, not just for Viney but for footy in general. Common sense prevails! -
I haven't heard of the pie story but if true it sure helped his kicking for goal!

And the absolute joy on the faces of the Demon supporters behind the goal when Jamar took his big mark.

Watching Christian Salem throw the ball onto his boot for a great goal in the first quarter against Adelaide reminded me of Geoff Tunbridge. Geoff kicked like that EVERY time and the ball would seemingly miraculously pass between the big posts. He could only kick with his left foot but always seemed to find the time to get himself into position to kick his very wobbly, looping goals. Yes, he would just throw the ball towards his boot and the result more times than often was the perfect one. Uglier goals you would never see BUT we Demon supporters thought they were just beautiful. We are on the way back thanks to Roos and our fantastic recruiting. Go Dees.

Very impressed with Bail. He was robbed of a great mark in the last quarter too. JHK with his weaving goal and lightning quick hands. Jack Watts getting into it and showing physicality.
-
But then one of our boys from a set shot 40 metres out almost directly in front ,missed everything. Forgotten who it was.

I really love his tenacity and dash. A modern day Donny Williams and that's high praise.
-
Hair plus speed. I get your point though Old dee. As I stated I HOPED Sammy could be as good as Bluey.

Saw Bleasy a couple of times too. -
What a centreline! The speed of Bluey Adams, the high marking ability of Brian Dixon and the silky skills of Hassa Mann. I was hoping that Sam Blease would be another Bluey Adams but my optimism is starting to fade. I would love to be wrong on this one though.
