  1. As I stated in an earlier post Bernie Vince really started the now famous chain leading to the winning goal. His huge crunching tackle causing a big spillage started it all off. Altogether, nine Demons were involved. What team work!
  2. I hope you are not too CROSS with our win!
  3. Me too, I really hate the Weagles. My 8 year old grandson barracks for the Dockers (like his dad) but tells me time and time again that Melbourne is his favourite VICTORIAN team. He too is not an Eagles fan.
  4. So glad the umpire didn't award Frawley with an obvious free kick in that last minute of play. It would have broken that fantastic chain of hand passes. Daniel Cross is an absolute revelation. What a player and leader he is. Thanks Bullies. Daniel would be a very happy man today with our win of course and the win by his beloved Bulldogs over Collingwood.
  5. Today's scoreline reminded me a bit of the 1948 Drawn GF. MELBOURNE 10.9.69 v ESSENDON 7.27.69. 19 scoring shots to 34! Who cares it's goals that win matches. The Dees won the replay by about 6 goals.
  6. Maybe your 6 year old son will be a Demon forever now and will support grandpa's Eagles as his second team. If Melbourne start winning all their games he can give Hawthorn the flick.
  7. It was the sweetest chain I have ever witnessed. Pedo to Jones to Frawley to McKenzie to Frawley to McKenzie to MacDonald to Viney to Cross to Salem. WINNING GOAL! Jack Watts has spoken often of Roos emphasis on TEAMWORK and this was a perfect example. No one in the chain tried to do too much. One of them could have blazed away to no effect. I've watched the last two minutes ten times!! Pure JOY! PS I have just realised I have forgotten to include Vince's huge tackle causing the spillage. He in fact STARTED the chain.
  8. Number 39 is not well on the way, he has made it! I have been so impressed by his toughness, coolness and fantastic disposal by hand and foot. What an improved player he has become.
  9. And Frawley was not awarded an obvious 50 metre penalty in the third quarter which would have put him in the goal square. Yes, we should have kicked a few more goals although not enough to win.
  10. Maybe he wanted to keep Jamar fresh for a big four quarters against Essendon next round. Having a full quarter off would help to achieve this aim.
  11. I was surprised, as were the commentary team, that Jamar was subbed off just before three quarter time leaving the inexperienced Maxy to do the bulk of the ruck work. Was this a good move by Roosy? We did fall apart a bit in the final quarter. What do others think?
  12. I found it anything but boring. Good old fashioned hard at footy from both sides. I don't think a 25 goals to 22 goals game is that exciting. Our soccer friends have hearts palpitating for the whole game in a nil all draw. Some of the best games I have watched have been low scoring affairs and when a goal is scored it is absolute gold. Sam is very wrong here.
  13. Swans didn't smash us did they?
  14. And he is so clean and precise with his disposal. Definitely not a borderline player by a long shot. Well done Nev.
  15. I don't think you like Watts Joeboy. A tough call on Vince too.
  16. Gee, Clint are you suggesting that you know more than Roosy? I'm sure he would spot this 'problem' if it was really there.
  17. Salem and JKH yes but not Bail. He did his bit and more.
  18. 6. Bernie Vince (At it fiercely all day). 5. Lynden Dunn (General in defence). 4. Nathan Jones ( typical brilliant Jonesy). 3. Jack Watts ( Cool and efficient). 2. Neville Jetta (Beautiful precise kicking.) 1. Jack Grimes (Disposed of ball very well today.) Special mentions to Bail, Pederson and Frawley.
  19. And Bob McKenzie too.
  20. Yes, I love Grimesy's determination and sheer toughness. However, one tends to hold their breath when he is about to dispose of the ball. In direct contrast how many people feel supremely confident that Lynden Dunn will dispose of the ball beautifully. Gee, he's so cool under pressure is Lynden and those long accurate kicks he produces are superb. Maybe he could give Jack some tips.
  21. I got the impression we were playing in a 28 degrees heat. Checked the official maximum temperature for Alice on Saturday and it was a mild and pleasant 20.7 degrees. Shouldn't cause sunstroke and shouldn't sap our energy for next week.
  22. I'm with you mate on this one. Living in Perth it was unbearable when there was only the Weagles. They just dominated the sporting pages. I even barrack for Collingwood when the play West Coast. That's the ONLY TIME mind you!
  23. Very negative comments this week Joeboy. If I didn't know the result I would have thought we lost by 110 points.
