  1. Shocking news. Jimmy Stynes, Sean Wight, Dean Bailey and now Neale Daniher. Keep fighting Danners!
  2. A bit early to make a call on Sylvia isn't it? Let's look at him mid season and then make a judgement.
  3. Others have named them for me. Quite a few I reckon.
  4. Earned selection in strong Eagles side and gained 16 possessions against the Bulldogs. Don't tell me we have let another player go only to shine with his new team. Have we been patient enough with Jamie? Or has he been not performing with us because he wanted to return to Perth? What does everyone think?
  5. Thanks Scythe for your explanation. It is weird though. No wonder my maths teachers were in despair.
  6. We are currently 11th behind Richmond on percentage. Maths is very strange isn't it? Richmond lose by 18 points and have a percentage of 79.3%, we lose by 17 points and our percentage is only 75. In the EPL positions are decided on goal differences not a percentage. Maybe fairer than our way. The biggest example though is the amazing discrepancy in % between the Dockers and the Eagles. Dockers win by 70 points with a % of 252 while eagles win by 65 points and have a % of only 194. Check it out with your calculators. By the way, I think most of us would be happy if this was our final position on the ladder this year.
  7. What about the Ox, Gary Lyon, Stephen Tingay and Travis Johnstone? Whitey was up there too until they changed the centre bounce rule.
  8. I listened to the game on the radio as I couldn't obtain tickets. I was cursing and wishing we had back the old system of queuing up before the game. I was on a ladder painting when Neil Crompton kicked the sealer. Nearly came a big cropper.
  9. Watts - Polish, Class, Sublime!
  10. Totally agree! Mods wind this one up please. It has had enough airing.
  11. I ignored the Hawthorn practice match and concentrated on our good form in the NAB Cup. As a result, I have confidently tipped the Demons to beat the Saints in my footy tipping Competition. I have over the past ten years or so done quite well in tipping competitions BUT so far this year I am scoreless, 0 out of 4. Can Melbourne help improve my average and restore some belief in my judgements? I am beginning to have self doubts. I wonder how many others in this forum have yet to open their account this season?
  12. How could I possibly even consider for one millionth of a second not barracking for the mighty Demons? I have watched them in the glorious fifties crushing the life out of their opponents. I have thrilled at the guts, determination and SKILL of Ron Barassi, the poetry in motion of Robbie Flower, the wizardy of The Wiz, Stuart Spencer's beautiful long raking drop kicks, Bluey Adam's blistering speed, the strength and power of the OX, The goal kicking of David Neitz, the polish of Laurie Mithen, Gary Lyon's snap goal in beating the Weagles in a final and youngsters Green and Bruce kicking last quarter goals to beat the Blues in the Preliminary final. No, there is no other team but the mighty Dees.
  13. Then let's change the title to Jimmy Toumpas then at least, we would be talking about one of OUR players.
  14. Shocking news! Dean was greatly admired by his charges and was always producing the best he could for the MFC. Deepest sympathy to his loved ones. Far,far too young. RIP Dean.
  15. Good for you old dee. I too cannot understand why we are discussing in huge proportions a player that is not one of ours. We didn't get him so let's leave it at that and concentrate on our OWN boys.
  16. Exactly. No mention of injury on MFC website.
  17. Great researching 'daisy cutter'. When I was playing we often called the stab kick a 'daisy cutter' so maybe that's how you named yourself being very proficient at the stab kick? Am I right?
  18. Oh those not so good old days! And the footballs! On wet days they became waterlogged and it was like trying to kick a medicine ball and they were like a cake of soap to try and mark. The chest mark was the only reasonably safe way. Thanks for the memories mate.
  19. Thanks Maldonboy38. The late BMcK was actually a very humble guy who always put himself down. He was one of my favourites in the Golden fifties. Beautiful kick for goal whether on the run or set shot. 250 goals in 120 games is pretty good for a half forward flanker. Very unselfish too with great stab kick passing. Now most of the forum wouldn't know about my last sentence would they Old dee and others?
  20. I think you are right about the 400metres. That is classed as a sprint these days.
  21. Only average? Ask Ron Barassi what he thought of me. He called me a 'bloody magician'. The late Bob Davis and John Coleman rated me highly also. Anyway. Old Dee, I asked for Maldonboy's Mum's rating not yours. Good on you mate.
  22. How did she rate me Maldonboy?
  23. Yes, that's right. You beat me to it Smithy. There was no faster footballer than Bluey. He was the Australian Pro sprint champion. Ralph Lane also was quick and an amateur sprint star.
  24. Stuey Spencer without a doubt. Tiger Ridley was great too but didn't have Spencer's class. Stingrays, you can't remember Stuey's long raking drop kicks propelling us into attack time after time? Percy must have been great but he was before even MY time! Never saw him play.
  25. What a fantastic pick up this guy is. Whatever were the Bulldogs thinking? He is a classy footballer who works so hard. Also sounds and looks like a great person to have around the MFC. It was also so pleasing to see Michie, Vince and Tyson dominating. Take a well earned spell Jonesy! What a hulk is Hogan? just turned 19! Roll on the real season.
