Pretty sad state of affairs when the only shining light to a season is playing fantasy footy. The misery ends on both fronts. for some next week. In the meantime the 'big' one' is next week. Good luck to the following. Legends League (Div 1) Jiagars V Watts Hogan On Tridents League (Div 2) Farro's Demons V The Spooks Redlegs League played the year short (12 teams). Fantasty didnt have auto-fill to make up the 18 teams. We didnt have enough numbers to fill the league and "guests' were invited to join. "Feather" whoever you are, was the best of the bunch.

Seems there isnt a minor premership for the next 8 teams outside of the final 8. Just a reminder to everyone the season tally counts until the GF is done and dusted. So keep playing as your season points tally will still count. Also taking names for those wishing to play in 2015. I'll start to pencil in returning teams or anyone new wanting to join next year.

OMG the unemployed just rose by 35%, if that kicked in. Apart from that I totally agree. Unruled, overgoverned, over analysed and almost over it. See ball, get ball, kick ball, score goal, anything gets in the way steam roll it.

BOG ... or perhaps hog? Keep up the training champ, next we tackle the record. Speed-eating competitions are popular over the Fourth of July weekend. Eight-time champion Joey "Jaws" Chestnut managed to eat 61 hot dogs in 10 minutes at an annual contest in Coney Island, New York, on Friday , eight short of the record 69 he swallowed in the 2013 competition.

WE have no hope of a PP. We have been more competive this year than last year. We didnt get one last year we were a total basket case. so forget that option. IF Chip goes, we trade that pick for Boyd, Throw in Blease, with a 3rd rounder for Shiel. $cully gets his best mate in his team. Hogans Heroes does the honourable thing, we reach a comprise, instead of NEVER posting on here again, he refrains from posting until 2015. Homey removes his rose coloured glasses and stops drooling over the 42 players on the list, and accepts the facts, approx 8 wont cut the mustard. Essendon gets kick out of the league for 12 months, Collingwood fold. We get to train on the "G' once a week. Gillon McLachlan sees the funny side of Connolly's off the cuff remark and reimburses 50% of our fine. 2016 Stretch and Lovett are ripping it up off the 1/2 backline. Hogan and Boyd lead the coleman. Oh for a perfect world.

Come back Juice ,all is forgiven. I'll fess up on 2 current players. Dunn was one, that on the basis he had been tried in the forward line, backline, to my horror, chucked in the ruck at one stage. He and Bate, seemed to be tarred with the same brush, handy but NQR. Now Dunn has proven his worth, I'm happy to admit I had all but written him off. No2: Pedersen has proven a lot of doubters wrong, me included. Totally taken his game to other level. But needs to show its not just this year. I did a summary of our borderline players pre 2014. I had a quick scan and I think (hope) thats the only 2 I need to beg forgiveness. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/34718-our-player-list-a-to-d/ http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/34827-our-players-list-e-m/ http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/34883-our-2013-player-list-n-z/

Spewing, anyone at some stage wished Clark was playing in the forward line, or even Hogan as well? Just had no forwards yesterday. Dawe tried but couldnt break free, Frawley was pushed high up the ground and had most of his kicks on the boundrary line or wing. Our so called strength pre season of a potent fowardline is a skelton of what it was looking like. Still, huge inroads to what it was last year, just disappointed to lose to those scumbags again. All a learning curve and the curve is on the up.

WELCOME BACK TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - NEVILLE JETTA
DeeVoted replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
One of Jetta's better games. Loved his run off the backline at times. The filth really showed us up in that area. I'm really pleased his is making the most of his chances, he must have been so close to getting the flick. Maybe a few borderline players on the list can take something from Nevs fortune. Do the hard work dont give up, then have no regrets. -
What a great bunch of blokes to chat with!! Too bad there hasnt been a following act to follow since. I spoke to about 10 of them and all were more than willing to give up their time to a stranger. 17-4-10 is correct I asked the great man himself, then pointed out to him did he realise the 741 is also his listed number of the MFC all time players.

You nailed it. Nev was moving off the line. probably got the call from Bernie a split sec too late.

Here's how it works Eyes on the ball and ended up with the ball proving he made the ball his main object NOT the player (oops scrub that, we only suspend here) This comes under the clause plays for the MFC: High impact = +1 week Accidental = deduct 1 week Injury to face was incurred = +2 weeks Tally up activation points and divide x2 Then plays too rough, gone through junior footy with kids mums complaining, activation pts divided, then multiply by the amount of times he goes in too hard. Early guilty plea taken into account the Adelaide player will miss a month BUT wiped out a teammate as well (MFC clause = bonus pts) - deduct 2 weeks Wearing a MFC jumper = +2 weeks (ignore previous good record) MFC Player Viney out for 2 weeks (If it was any other high profile player it wouldnt be an issue, ie Gablett) Trenners slammed dunked Dangermouse and got cruxified, dont expect any favours from these morons.

In the past I have never used bad umpiring as an excuse for a loss, for that matter, a win. If the team is good enough they should not rely on free kicks. Having said that, there are times when you see a blatant free not given, and then ump cops it. But most times the tide turns during a game and it evens itself out. There is no denying some players get an arm chair ride with umpires. Yesterdays debacle needs someone to admit it wasnt their best effort. Again, they move the goal posts during the year, its pretty clear a kick now needs to travel more than 15 mtrs to be paid a mark. At the start of the season the umpiring was seen to be very good. After the farce yesterday its taken a big step backwards. It really annoys me when they change something during the season. The game is over governed, with too many variables. No wonder everyone cant follow the rules. For starters they need to protect the player making the play or going in hard for the ball. This piling on top of a player pinned to the ground, with no hope of getting the ball out is just pure crap. He either had time prior to dispose of it or he didnt. If an opposing player jumps into his back, while on the ground, then I;d be paying in the back to the player that now has the ball pinned in. Or if their teammate jumps in then perhaps a free against as the last in, has retarded the ball being released. This stops players piling on top. 50 mtr penalty to be reduced to 25 mtrs, double if a report (50 mtrs) on a player has been made. The ball has to travel at least 15 mtrs before being deemed out on the full. Its just a farce when a player is standing on the boundary line, hits his boot, and deemed out on the full. Its either given deliberate out of bounds, or not. Clean up the existing rules so it clear to all. Dont change the goal posts. I've had enough of every so called expert adding something different every year. This is a question, not a statement. Did Jamar take that mark in the goal square? If so ( I was lead to believe he had) why was he out on an angle. Not that it mattered, he still kicked the goal.

Comeon girls, its NOT us, its never OUR fault the site crashes. Its all those bloody journos that come on here from all over the country, wanting to write their scoup for Monday Headlines. The Age - MFC to meet with AFL chiefs and demand answers how the game is being umpired. The Hun. MFC livid over bad umpiring decsicions. Sunbury Gazette; Upset win in S.A Upset demons to meet with umpires Healesville Journal. MFC rapt in interstate win, But umpiring is confusing fans and players. They all come in here and crash the site, while all we do is post our thoughts on the current state of affairs. Roos makes a statement - The players have been confused enough with new game plans etc, I dont expect them to be confused any further trying to figure out how to win a bloody free kick!

Well PF, nice list of departures you have. put the shovel away before you dig yourself a bigger hole. TMac is a stayer, so is Howie. Agree with you both have their faults. But to discard both would be a step backwards. TMac does need to improve his disposal and decision making. He struggles in the air against a foward that gets more that 3ft off the ground. We need a Sean Wight type down back to help him out. Grimes is more a worry to me than Tmac, Grimes is slow, gets beaten in the air, and gives his opponents to much latitude. He needs to tighten up. Tall backs with some talent and the experience he has (only 22yrs old) dont grow on trees, and name a decent back that wants to get flogged week in week out thats willing to play for the MFC at this stage. Howe needs to go back to the forward line, he has been exposed to not be willing to gut run. He also needs to show more than being able to fly for speccies. He will learn or he will be discarded or traded. But for now we dont have anyone better. I'm sure he would perform better with a successful club. As for the rest on your list, you can throw in Jetta (although I thought didnt do much wrong against Sydney) but he is on the chopping block if he doesnt show a lot more. Big rucks are hard to come by, so Gawn stays, IF he stays fit for most of this year. I'm wearing thin seeing him on the injured list. M.King isnt ready I rate King from the little I have seen of him, but he needs a few yrs at Casey. WE can't lash everyone thats not up to it in one go, Roos, will know who is a stayer. Most on your list have shown next to nothing, until they are replaced with players better, we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. We arent a club players are falling over each other to get to. We need to draft and develop and when they develop hopefully they will replace the NQR's that are left on the list. Are Mids have improved, from crap to 1/2 decent. Our forward line is bare, until they get a target up there, they are going to look bad. We need more run out of the backline, and players on the move when we have possession of the ball. At present most times they are flat footed and easy pickings to be tackled or under the pump. So hold off on a cull, until Roos sorts them out. But I';m looking at a eight off the list come the end of the year. Maybe more if trades come into it.

Barassi cops a 4 week suspension. As reported in the paper at the time. http://s25.postimg.org/chskip9tr/Barassi_Reported.jpg For those that didnt see the vision, RDB should have been given the benefit of the doubt. Losing Barassi for the finals in '63 was a huge blow. Its all water under the bridge now, but could / should we be aiming for No 14? except for one player not being truthful. Perhaps Dean did feel a fist past his face. (accidental) but if RDB said he didnt, I know who I believe.
-
NP minor detail, but should I bring back the "Who am I" quiz ? lol
-
Dean stuck to his story that RDB struck him, Barassi maintained he never laid a finger on him. Such was the big act that Dean threw on, the ump, (as you pointed out) fell for it. It was big news, and the uproar that followed. Years later Dean still reckons Barassi whacked him. I likened it to a soccer player staging. I'm with you, I can't print my thoughts on Dean. The big girl should have been an actor. Barassi was a rugged and hard player, but didn't go around belting players. Speaking of soccer http://neososmos.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/game-that-never-happened.html 50 yrs ago. We gave Geelong a hiding on the return game in '63, now whether we could have gone all the way in '63 is open for debate as Geelong had a strong balanced team. But losing RDB for the finals was widely seen as our chances without him playing going down the drain. PS: WJ I am not sure where you sourced your info, but it was in Rnd 17 Vs Tiges not the last home game.

On paper this side has the makings a premership team . Didnt recall D.Robbie I had to look him up. (Played 21 games in 3 seasons). Barassi rubbed out as you mentioned, (never touched Dean) Tassie in the ruck!! Wise must have been out injured.

Jack Trengove out for year with navicular fracture
DeeVoted replied to Arrow's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm going to throw the acid back on Misson's shoulders. He is responsible for all the players fitness levels. And relies on feedback from his staff and the players. If he has a player on the list that has or is clearly dropped away, regardless of the player saying he is right. In this case pick No2 Trenners, I would be hammering the door down, wanting answers to why my player on the list that clearly has dropped away. The arguement shouldnt hold water, if the answer was he has scans and all is ok. Then Misson should have dug his heels in and demanded more scans or an answer to why his player isnt running anywhere near what he used to be able to do. If you were getting chest pains and had your heart checked out and was given the all clear, but the pains persisted but not as bad, you would back demanding a specialist do more checks,as something isnt right. Bit late when you keel over from something related indirectly. The same applies to Misson, I got a player here, that is struggling, we need to dig deeper. He has a care of duty for all players on the list. It doesnt stop with Trenners, there are a number of players with injury concerns, some come off the injury list, then back on it again a month later. (my faith in Misson is wavering) Gawn, Tapscott, Blease, Strauss and a number of others come to mind to be on and off the 426. -
How many pts do we get for a win? Been awhile.
