  1. Bob was busy mowing the lawn today and couldn't make it down for the game and the other supporter, Mary, had to do some shopping. But rest assured they will be fired up come finals time....
  2. No disrespect to the names below but Jeez we have come a long way since 2013... Best and Fairest The senior coach and three main assistants ranked each player from 1 to 7 for their performance in a match. Player Votes 1 Nathan Jones 365 2 Colin Garland 360 3 Dean Terlich 306 4 Matt Jones 303
  3. “It was pretty much, ‘You don’t get any satisfaction out of making finals, you get it from winning finals’. “Let’s understand what we have got to play for this week (against GWS Giants) and we want to hit the ground running (in finals).”
  4. Gun.

He and Brayshaw are the 2 most improved by a long way....
  6. Reasons to criticise? You are kidding. Getting back from the mark you learn in under 12s. Petracca continually kicks off a step and is 'forced' to kick the ball high. Pretty fundamental issue that is a cinch to fix. He has a very penetrating kick if only he would get back off the mark. His low bullets could be a devastating weapon.
  7. Yes there is but no team in the comp is as better drilled for particular situations like close finishes. They know exactly what they have to do and mostly they do it.
  8. Harmes now has a real weapon - he gets the ball and like the Dangerfield's of the world he runs to get clear, all the while assessing his options. He then delivers exceptionally well. Not so long ago he, like a lot of others, would instantly dish the ball off to a stationary target. That change comes from confidence in yourself and your team mates to make position. Its a terrific development.
  9. Really? Then why not keep him in the bench until the last 15mins and then release him? Petracca's kicking could be amazing but it is actually pretty poor most of the time. He gets too close to the man on the mark so often it makes me want to scream.
  10. It may be well balanced but they do take note of the oppositions strengths and weaknesses as well as the fact there are players with niggles and injuries. They try to pick teams that will beat the opposition so its not just a case of 'no change'.
  11. Just pure garbage sorry.
  12. He's coming 4th in the D'Land player of the Year and people want to trade him??? Pffft Muppets
  13. Context though. Ignore last year. He is playing a different game now and we have TMac up fwd. If you look at Melbourne's contested marks inthe fwd line I would hazard a guess they are miles above the past few years. Variation and unpredictability about our fwd line are possibly more valuable than a stay at home forward.
  14. I think that was the exception rather than the rule. I don't think he has ever been a great contested mark.
  15. "In those final ten minutes, after their game-long lead had evaporated before their eyes and their season was on the line, they defended stoutly and showed they had learned the lesson of their soul-destroying loss on enemy territory a month earlier against Geelong. " Mr D'Land I think they learned more from the lessons against Sydney than they did against Geelong....ball control, composure, tempo. Much better on the weekend.
  16. Hogan has a great footy IQ. Always thinking and is very good with chip kicks, tap ons etc.
  17. Talk to me after the weekend when we get shafted by umpiring.
  18. This thread title is embarrassing. Mods can we please change it? Maybe 'questionable umpiring?' Imagine the media quoting this garbage. We would look like the biggest bunch of idiots going around. Let alone have the whole umpiring dept ensuring we get completely rogered this weekend
  19. There are some weird numbers in here. Mostly looks like BS to me. North more than Melbourne? I doubt it. The Swans? Well 98% of NSW would say Swans. What does it really mean? Giants 175,000 you're kidding.
  20. Brent Moloney was the best pointer in the business. No point settling for second best...
  21. Do we have to start a thread for every player that is leaving another club? Stupid idea. NDH policy prevails. He isn't that good. Next.
  22. For the blood rule players can come on before the bleeding player has left the field. The delay is usually because it takes a few seconds to work out that a player is coming off, who should replace them, what rotations are due and a final check to see whether the structures are right and any last minute instructions..
  23. The other interesting thing about this table is that Melbourne is the ONLY club not to have had a positive differential of more than 11 in ANY year. #MFCSS lives
  24. He'd be happy with a new ute, a McDonalds gift voucher and a drinks card at 21st Century in Frankston...
