Oh OK Case closed. -
This club is built around Max. As good as he is there's an argument to say we are too Max focused at times and its hurt us. he is also 33 yo in Dec so we need a plan B

We're all holding our collective breath that we can see the pre 2023 Clarry

“I really want to be around to implement the review findings and basically provide some stability because the next six months is going to be so important to effectively reunite the club,” Smith told the Herald Sun.

Absolutely tragic. The community is heartbroken for the families involved. Would be great for the club to do something in rd 1

This is good but too late Has left his last two clubs in a mess

Gawn's multiple comments for a start But also several players I have spoken to Was not a happy camp in 2024

There is no doubt fractures in the playing group from the goings on this year Some serious fence mending is required

It is never black and white but... Our fwd entries have been a concern for years. We have bombed the ball into our fwd 50 for years despite it being a major area of focus. Our kicking accuracy has been poor for a number of years. Our skill level has not improved overall. A large part of our game plan has not changed and has been found it when it counts Our reliance on Max is hurting us. The flip side is we had a garbage year with lots of injuries and close losses. Losses by less than a goal against 4 finalists. Win those and the discussion is probably different. I go back to looking at which players (leaving out first year players) have improved. It's a damningly small list. Rivers, McVee, Turner and maybe JVR Langdon got back to his best as did Tmac and Viney. Below their best is a long list for whatever reason. Petty, Fritsch, May, Lever, Oliver, Pickett, Sparrow.... I get the feeling its a big year for S Goodwin.

He was the best in the AFL during 2022/23 wasn't he?

Have to admire his persistence

Trying to unravel the mysteries of the salary cap will send you bonkers There are so many deals that are: back/front loaded Based on games played Dependent on finishes in awards tied to increases in the general salary cap etc Tracc and Oli I imagine would have signed deals that gave them an increase when the TPP increased (ie its percentage of TPP based) or some might even have clauses which say I have to be in the top 3 players at the club etc Good luck with the project

2 kicks and 3 tackles from those 3 games Hard pass
-
If Fritsch got 5 tackles per game we would likely score 4-6 goals from those efforts. Unfortunately its his efforts that are lacking

Buddy could take a mark just not a pack mark but I get your point
-
He was a double grabber. Could rarely take a one grab mark and that I am afraid is a death sentence in AFL

Boards dont work without cohesion. You can't have lone wolfs on the Board disrupting things That said boards need to be accountable and I am not sure ours has been

I'm not so sure that was the reason. GC were being difficult to deal with and everyman and his dog were trying to get p13 The Dons had a need for all our picks so they ended up being a better suitor. Maybe others hadnt tried Essendon because in years gone by they have been so difficult to deal with? I think our team does a good job overall. .We get dudded sometimes but only if we want to do the deal and generally only if we dont need some of those higher picks Other teams know that we are good to deal with and I suspect that gives us some good capital in dealing

Essendon & Syd "won" the trade period last year Port and Geelong the year before Its meaningless

From memory the only recent Coleman medallists to play in a flag in the same year are Roughead 2013, Franklin in 2008 and Lloyd in 2000 McKay and Curnow won the Coleman 3 years running from 21, 22, 23 and it didn't help them win a flag
-
Maybe. Success is not linear though. There are ups and downs. You have to make the downs count and I think we have done a reasonable job at that. Not so the ups. We should have collected another flag imo

We have engineered 4 picks inside the top 12 in the past 2 years. For a club that has been at the pointy end of the ladder most of that times, that is a great result.

We have as many picks as we have spots on the list. eg we could have 88, 89, 90 if we had the list spots

Thanks for that. I thought he said too but I was confused with the article below the video (where they misquoted him) saying “Now we have four picks inside the top 12 over the next two years which will help us, we believe in the short, medium and long term.
