Post Match Discussion - Semi Final
Melbourne hasn’t won a premiership since 1964 but starved Demons supporters will be buoyed by an unusual statistic that surfaced this week. An inquisitive Demons supporter asked Twitter stats guru Swamp what the longest streak of improving their win total year on year a team had put together. Melbourne has steadily improved since bottoming out with just two wins in 2013, doubling its total in 2014 before winning seven in 2015, 10 in 2016, 12 while just missing the finals in 2017 and 15 this season. Swamp revealed the six year-run did match the record shared by Geelong (1958-63) and West Coast (2001-06). The icing on the cake? Both those teams won premierships in the sixth year of their streak. Start dreaming big, Dees fans.

He is so frustrating. We had 15 kicks directly to the opposition in the first half and he did 3 of them I believe. Did a lot of other things that were really good but has to get rid of some of the brain fades. One day he will bust out and kick 6 goals. Lets hope it is against west coast.- Post Match Discussion - Semi Final
- Meanwhile . . . down at Glenferrie Road . . . .
Hwathorn out in straight sets twice in the past 3 seasons. 2016 and 2018. So sweet.- Luke Parker
What's going on at the Swans?- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
This is one of 2 key issues. 1. The club receiving the player loses nothing except salary cap space. 2. The club losing the player - often a bottom club - receives a compo pick if its a RFA - but that gets them another junior. Maybe they need as well extra list space to recruit an older play a la Hodge or Lewis... Heard Hocking on the radio talking about PPicks and he said they are a 'sugar hit'. Said to look at the rebuild at melbourne as to how to handle it. A 'whole of club' approach. It looks like the new blueprint...- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
As much as I like that they have just re-signed OMac so its unlikely you would think...- Finals Tickets
Its the way of life mate you'll have to get used it. Richmond have 100k supporters and maybe get 20k tickets to a GF. Fact is if you want a guaranteed finals ticket you have to pay for a higher class of membership. A regular membership won't do it.- Post Match Discussion - Elimination Final
- Jetta and the Hard Stuff
Should be knighted for services to Australian Rules Football. In fact I'll have a chat to Meaghan and Harry when they pop in for a tea this week.... As an aside I wonder why Jetta doesn't get booed by opposition supporters?- Dan Hanneberry
very unkind about one of your fellow Xavier cohorts....- Post Match Discussion - Elimination Final
- Jayden Hunt
I reckon he has slowed a little as he has bulked up in the hips/glutes. Aaron Davey I recall one year coming back from a big pre season in the gym and was noticeably bulkier and slower.- Post Match Discussion - Elimination Final
- Farewell Jesse Hogan
No I have plenty to spare...- Farewell Jesse Hogan
This thread is stupid. Jesse loves Melbourne. And for all those saying the fwd line is functioning better without jesse you are missing the fact that we are playing differently since he has been out. Much more one on one, more composure delivering the ball into the fwd 50 (The elimination final was not a good example!) and much better pressure from everyone to keep the ball in there. Jesse is a solid 40 goal plus fwd and you don't get rid of them because an 18 gamer has a good game.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
I am sure you are high up in Jesse's thoughts...- Finals Tickets
err could be Hawthorn supporters..... Hope I am wrong..- Post Match Discussion - Elimination Final

I posted a while back that our 3rd qtr stats are outstanding. The number 1 team for the year. That says to me the coaching staff are able to make the necessary changes, reinforce the messages, get the team back on track if needed or counteract the opposition moves. That is a very good sign that the coaches can identify what needs to be done and impart the right messages and moves. It also seems that we have tightened up measurably since the Sydney game to mostly one on one footy - none of the no wings, or 2 behind the square for the bounce etc.
