  1. Legend of the club. Used to run between his legs to get into the rooms as a kid in the early 80's - no one was allowed in unless you had a pass or knew Dudley or if you were under 10! Great memories. Won the Dudley raffle 3 times! Crappy printed signatures on a crappy plastic red and blue footy - absolutely loved them!
  2. Thanks for that 3183. Yep impressive young bloke that. Willbe a Dee for a long time yet
  3. I'm sure there is a Jack Watts thread somewhere..... It's all his fault!
  4. 4.40 on a Sunday, hell of a long time to wait on a weekend to watch some footy, especially given on form we will get spanked. Here's hoping that we can maybe just maybe we can pull something out of the box for Greenies send off. Been a favourite of mine, regardless of his last couple of seasons. Would have been a far better player if we had a better forward line around him for the past few years - get the 3rd Backman rather than the first - ie what Scott Lucas got - Hird and Lloyd need relentless defending Lucas got to float in and pick off easy grabs. All the Best wherever you end up Brad
  5. Add a team in Tassie and one in NT, maybe even on the Capital as well - that gives 21 teams. Play each other once 20 round season, 10 games every weekend. Done.
  6. Had Slug as a coach in my junior days while trying to move up through the ranks at Hawthorn (under 15s/17s) prior to start of the under 18 league. Absolutely hated him - you played well (or atleast tried to) out of spite and to not cop punishment on the track. Made me a better tougher footballer for it. Don't think many of our current crop at the dee's would have liked him either, he would have toughened them up though. Rate him highly as the toughest coach I had through the journey (although when Allan Joyce came down to the juniors and would be abusing you for not chasing when you're on the ground throwing up - I think they collaborated together!) knew exactly what to do to get the most out of everyone he coached.
  7. With our list and the front loading of contracts, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't have 2-3+ mill left in our salary cap next year to front load a major contract or 2 or 3 - be it Cloke, be it Goddard, be it Boak.... Whoever is available we have so much cap room to fit them in for major deals without upsetting future contracts. I don't understand why people here are scared to offer big payloads to get us to our club that mya, just may help lift us up off the canvass. I don't care who we upset at other clubs, nor which of 'senior' players get a shake up because we will pay an outsider huge coin, our football club needs the best players we can get our hands on now, not what might be when our "window" opens - our "window" will open much sooner if we have better footballers playing, seems simple to me
  8. And took trapper off our hands..... Edit - only half in jest... I liked TJ, if only he learnt to apply himself. Hopefully our other #1 pick does as well
  9. Not sure but I think there is a bit of a handshake type agreement with rival clubs that means injured or ill players who are to be placed on a rookie list spot won't be picked up by opposition clubs in the drafting process, especially given no one wants to be lumped with all the medical bills for said player who may or may not make it back. Dates back to Ramanauskis (?spelling) going through his cancer ordeal. If it is made public that that's what we are going to do, it will happen. Hopefully he overcomes it, not just for his footy career but to have a healthy knee for the remainder of his days
  10. Honestly couldn't care less if we have to take JV at 3. We have committed to him and the Viney family, knowing full well it will cost us our first pick. We all believe the kid is in his fathers image - a tough as nails unit who runs through brick walls but supposedly has good skills as well. The kid deserves to go in the first few, despite all our desires to "bluff" him down the order - he is a known commodity and would be in the running first the first few picks regardless of our F/S availability. If by some miracle we get to use pick 23ish on him fantastic, but realistically we will take him at 3 and we will all be very happy with what we get as a number 3 pick.
  11. I can just about see Healy and Sheahan pi$$ing themselves while reading this thread. Muckraking of the highest order is what they were doing. Shaking the trees to see if they can get a coconut to fall, and it did courtesy of Brock. They have managed to build some meaning into an otherwise meaningless game by 2 teams that wouldn't win at VFL level. Cannot believed how people here get sucked in hooked line and sinker to what headline chasing hacks create, to think that sky is falling. If we win we are still crap if lose we are still crap, nothing to really gain or lose out of this weekends game - except for maybe another season ending injury to one of our better players. Neeld will still be coach, we will still take young Viney with our first or second round pick, the boys (that are left after the cull!!!!) will still endure the hardest gut wrenching preseason that they have ever done, our Olympic team will still suck as well for that matter - so much for the Olympics to be a way of watching some wins this year!
  12. I blame Jack Watts....... No sorry its Bodhan's fault, possibly Cale had some input as well not to mention CS, CC, the other CC, BP, Danners, Bails, Gardiner, the Rabbi, surely Nathan Carroll's mo - aaahhh too hard - back to my original sentiment - jack watts is definitely to blame. Move on nothing to see here. Nothing will come of this as nothing can come of this. We will have pick 3 and take young Viney and still have our compo picks.
  13. Well played Scarlett, 1 kick, 4 handballs.... Aaaaarrrgggghhhhh there goes my season. 2 late omissions - the Chad and Drummond out has killed my finals aspirations. Injuries, injuries, injuries the curse of my season - I'm sacking Bohdan fom my fitness staff - its obviously all his fault
  14. Thank god for F1 qualifying, Le tour time trial and British open round 3 to watch - gotta be some sort of good performance to watch after that garbage
  15. This will come to fruition in the last quarter. They should be out on their feet without the rotations. however unless we learn to kick it to a bloke with a Melbourne jumper on we will continue to get smashed even with them standing still
  16. Interviewing Michael Long at quarter time.... how many pies has he eaten since retiring??? Would give Phat Phil a run for his money
  17. Tough to beat OMR this week... Not holding out hope after bloody Dane Swan - 31 kicks, 18 handballs 2 goals straight......
  18. Too many riddles in this thread for me. Having said that, I reckon I've heard Patrick 'seriously I write for the Aussie and henceforth have no relevance to anything' Smith get stuck into the Dee's and our shitty culture and lack of standing for anything and every other piece of crap the media come out with as much as if not more than Venom Denham. Both tainted with the same toilet brush as far as I'm concerned. would actually enjoy KB's shows if these 2 stains on life were never involved
  19. Hey Mad Melbourne, just sent you a trade - Devon smith for Crowley. Numbers are almost identical. Gives you a potential young keeper.
  20. Regardless of how things ended, he was a great servant to the club as the sats posted earlier suggest. Wishing nothing but good things for old 'Tracky Dacks'. had some sublime moments especially In the early 2000's was regularly compared to J Hird in the early days. Hope anyone with a beef over how/why he left for Hawthorn gets over it and welcomes him around the club/MCG in years to come
  21. Happy to scrape home today against HT - I think it was 4 categories by very very small margins - 1 hit out, 2 tackles, 3 marks and 5 behinds! Getting really hard to scrape out wins leading I to finals, need some big guns to return from injury.
  22. Did anyone catch the doco on Cadels win on SBS prior to the prologue? Really was good viewing - especially the interviews with Andy Schleck - he said that he knew the race was Cadels prior to the time trial and that finishing second to Cadel was a great honour, he went up to Cadel privately in the airport on route to the final stage and gave him a big congrats. First tie I've really noticed that Andy might actually be a good bloke, always had him pegged for an arrogant SOB - disappointed he's not racing this year now, would have made things more interesting. Footage after stage 1 shows Wiggins already under serious stress - he looks about as in control as Cadel 3 years ago - serious mental case! Certainly didn't look good for three weeks of intense racing
  23. Title says it all. Bombers will be unveiling their new clash strip on the weekend against the 'Aints. Wonder if it means we will get a home game against them now???? http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/essendon-to-unveil-new-clash-strip-against-st-kilda/story-e6frf9jf-1226413789428
  24. Can't be Dean Chiron..... He's not wearing zinc on the shnoz. Looks more like Steven Stretch's mullet to me B)
  25. Sorry JCB, I highly doubt that the wacko Jako's will be fighting out the premiership, losing Sandilands for 10 weeks will most certainly hurt me. I snuck a few early wins purely on ruck strength - now left to the almighty bearded man - Ben Huudson, and traded in Sellar as he is officially listed as a ruck for some coverage - think I could be in trouble. Might have had a long term win though trading out Chapman for Rockliff, long term keeper in where as Chappy is in the twilight - next year at best for Chappy I reckon, his body must be close to shot after years of bang crash? Soon found out about that one.
