  1. In the midst of a keeper rethink. Big Sandi may be thrown aside into the Draft, given his recent injuries - his Toe drove me to tears last year and currently out with hs hammy. Tommy Rockliff will be getting a phone call to spearhead my midfield
  2. Hey guys, my new little Demon (goes by Oliver) was born on Thursday (valentines day!). Seriously tired! Obviously I'm not really keeping up with the plan for drafts etc at present - will make do with whatever the general consensus is - will do my preselection order if unable to make draft time Ps. Looking for ideas on who to get to sign his first little Demon jumper - leaning towards the 'Jacks' Grimey, Trenners and Watts give the lad someone to follow as they grow
  3. Horrible news JCB, wishing a very speedy recovery your way. can't offer any advice, wrong part of the medical fraternity for me (sports medicine/orthopaedics is my go) I'm sure we all wish you well and more importantly put up a good fight in ultimate footy!
  4. Just letting people know I've changed my junior keepers Out: Shiel In: Tapscott (In doubt dependent on Essendon sanctions...... Heppel! Although I reckon they might be safe)
  5. Keepers for me are set Sandi Cyril Dyson Heppell Dylan Shiel Dropping the hit out value, obviously hurts a little with Sandi, however I do agree and think the basic values that RR suggests are on the money
  6. Signed up, new team name - Jakovich lives - keeps the Jako theme going
  7. Sorry RR same goes for me, expecting my first little Demon in the very near future (due next week) - pretty sure my play book will rather full without putting my hand up to lead. I'm sure someone will step in for JA this year
  8. Sounds about right to me. Oh and count me back in :-), thinking i need to cut back this year on either this or dreamteam - reckon dreamteam will be dropped from my itinery - heaps more fun in this
  9. Not sure if this deserves its own thread - mods please move if needed to any number of T$ or Tippet threads Must admit I find this highly amusing, that the bloke who orchestrated T$ to GWS is banned from the AFL for funny business regarding Tippets contract. Have no sympathy for him whatsoever. But what it does is show some backbone from the AFL and whether this will mean anything for our investigation http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-01-24/tippett-manager-banned?utm_medium=RSS
  10. Think back to 2000, round 22 ( or whatever round was the last of the H&A season), WCE vs Melbourne - Bluey McKennna's last game - they were crap and we were on the rampage. I was in Perth doing a grad dip at UWA, living in the nurses quarters at Carlie Gardiner hospital - walking distance to Subiaco, but i digress - must have been one of maybe 3 Demons in the crowd. The game was well and truly cooked by early in the 3rd and was looking like it could get ugly for the home side. The game got interesting only because the coach did something that doesn't happen anymore, play up for the crowd - Bluey McKenna was sent to full forward and cleared out the 50 for the last quarter. Get bluey a goal in his last game. Unfortunately for the crowd, Guy McKenna was one of the alltime great half back flankers, and as such not a full forwards jockstrap! Had a couple of shots but just plain stank in front of goal. Chaired off afterwards to a standing ovation. That half back line on Woosha,G Jako and Bluey must be one of if not the strongest line on a football ground ever - still jealous of it. Just checked for you RL, listed as 184 cm - maybe you were on a step! but yes he'd look short next to the current players!!
  11. Have just rediscovered the Pine Lime Sunnyboy, very nice way to cut through the sweltering summer heat here in Canberra. Highly underrated the old Sunnyboy ice block. Would gladly forgo a banana or 2 for one in this Canberra heat wave
  12. Love this quote BH. Just had a couple of little déjà vue chills up and down the spine. Perhaps a little of Viney senior and a young (albeit shorter and midfielder not full forward version) of G Lyon. ( was thinking maybe a little petal off a Flower, but no he looks like Gaz, Todd and Gaz played a whoe lot more together than Todd and Robbie, either way I'm happy)
  13. One of my dad's good mates loves telling the story of the bus trip down to Geelong in his final game for the dee's, the story has grown many legs over the years whether it was being told in the old 'former players room' in the Olympic stand( from memory it's been a while!) or in the Coterie rooms, always around time for the trip to the Cattery. The only detail that remains the same is that he neglects to say that not only was it his last game but also his first! So at a guess WJ was his one and only game against Geelong in Geelong? In what would have to be the 1960's?
  14. Really not sure why he would have his PCL reconstructed, at least at this stage of proceedings. The norm is conservative rehab, regain the strength and control, if its all good then fine. If it doesn't regain function, then consider some intervention. Normally a 6 week turnaround at worst, seems odd, maybe just overkill. Adam Goodes played the very next week. my only thought is it is designed to keep others (Vic clubs) from wanting to pick him up in 12 months, but that seems irrational - must be a Sheedy thing!
  15. Just chatting with a guy who played with Mitch last year at Nth Adelaide - reckons he's a good kid and will do well in an AFL environment Apparently Brisbane were right into him the last 2 years as well, not sure why the didn't pull the trigger though
  16. .... Too lateOne little spew, yet so much goodness as a result
  17. Reported on the MFC website that both the new rookies - Stark and Clisby are flying up for the last 2 days in Darwin. They would have loved that phone call! Welcome to the club, first port of call a 35k trek through kakdu in stinking hot conditions. Nice initiation!
  18. http://www.footballnation.com.au/latest-news/draft-prospect-in-focus-nathan-stark/ Has a little video footage, moves a bit like Daisy Thomas. Looks a prospect for mine
  19. Nothing to add here other than my new avatar - JV in camo's...... Not that the boy could in fact get any tougher....
  20. From the age The next instalment of the Tippett saga will come in the next couple of days, when the AFL Players Association announces who will head an inquiry into the handling of the contract by his manager, Peter Blucher. Blucher faces potential deregistration as a player agent after the uncovering of the contract rorting that accompanied Tippett's re-signing with the Crows in 2009. Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/tippett-sets-out-draft-terms-20121203-2ar4s.html#ixzz2E2FqB7xq Warms the cockles of the heart, the man behind the TS/GWS deal to get deregistered
  21. This attitude annoys me, you and I cannot possibly comprehend the [censored] this bloke has gone through over past year or 2. He is an aboriginal elder amongst his people who are in a civil war. His family are living in Adelaide, a couple of thousand k's away from their home and unable to return. I am actually amazed that he is attempting a comeback and if he can get fit enough to play at the top level again good luck to him. It is not about reward for the Melbourne football club, and the what about me/us attitude, I wish him well and thanks for the all the too brief moments as a Demon
