  1. Another #%#*^ profit!!! I blame all of this on Schwab. Never used to happen in the good old days.
  2. On the question of whether we can go backwards, its always a possibility. We can rookie draft a certain former Tiger next week who could influence our cultcha negatively so his teammates end up turning up to games asleep. Half the list could spend the off season belting the living suitcases out of their relatives with machetes. A member of the Comancheros motorbike gang could be elected to the Board at the AGM. Our sponsors could all turn out to be closet Nazis. Somebody might falsely accuse the entire football department of racism. The selectors could drop our ten best players for the GWS game and replace them with untried rookies. The AFL might force us to take Cale Morton and pick 88 back and we could appoint Greg Denham and Caroline Wilson our no 1 male and female supporters respectively. Can we go backwards? [censored] yeah!
  3. No shortage of rats around the place in 2012 either. Hope they're gone when 2013 starts.
  4. The salary cap rorts are already old hat. We're back in the gun because of our association with alleged criminals. They're now investigating our links with a gang that specialises in stealing bananas.
  5. Damn you ... now we can't draft Oliver Wines for fear of being somehow connected by the Age with race fixing.
  6. Is that AFI as in Australian Film Institute (in which case, we're talking fiction) or AFL (in which case, we're definitely talking fiction)? The investigation. Is truly becoming an embarrassment to the sport, to journalism and those working in both professions.
  7. Speaking of C Wilson and the Wilson File, Demonlanders might want to reflect on this C Wilson who once played in an MFC premiership:- Colin Wilson DOB: 23 July, 1933 Debut: Round 4, 1954 against Fitzroy at MCG Last Game: Round 18, 1959 against South Melbourne at Lake Oval Games: 63 Goals: 1 Number: 33 1954-1959 Honours: Premiership Player - 1957 Grand Final team - 1958 Carlton, Richmond and North tried to win the services of the ruckman/defender in 1957, but Wilson stayed with the Demons. It proved a wise move as he lifted a premiership that year. He played first ruck in that side, before being in a back pocket in the losing 1958 team. His brother Brian did a pre-season with the Demons in 1956 but was not signed. Served as Reserves coach in 1978. Info: from Demonwiki
  8. *sigh* Why do I have this nagging feeling that Caroline Wilson's next piece is going to be about AFL footballers on steroids?
  9. I get it. It's a witch hunt but this time, we're dealing with a real witch. Brilliant!
  10. He asked for "learned opinions". That rules your out.
  11. Why don't we go further and demand that the club terminates its sponsorship with the Age. I understand that could mean a loss of funds but it would be a move full of integrity and, on that basis alone, we should have no problems finding alternative sponsorships.
  12. Hey Hazy - why don't you do a similar rating of the CEOs coming before Cameron Schwab? You know - Ray Ellis, Steve Harris and Paul "Wimbledon" McNamee?
  13. Yesterday, when Moloney went to Brisbane I said the average IQ's of both clubs went up but with Dawes, ours has soared again but Collingwood ... pffft!
  14. Another triumph for FA. This is a unique occasion when the average IQs of both clubs involved in the Moloney move north have increased.
  15. You went to Assumption College, right?
  16. We will ... as soon as you blokes throw Pendelbury into the deal.
  17. Reckon Winfield might be a bit of a smokey, myself.
  18. I suspect the trade and draft period will start with hope and expectation and fizzle out as all trade peiods have in the past.
  19. I suspect the club has decided to add a bit of spice to the grand final sprint and our runner Mr. TBC will rock up in a mask like they do in professional wrestling. During the race he will run out of his lane, knock over his competitors and take out the sprint before pulling the mask off to reveal his true identity. A sign of the new aggressive MFC moving forward into the future.
  20. I have a fantastic idea. If we get young Casboult to the club then we should book the team on a Yarra River cruise and get the whole lot of them totally shickered. Then we chain Levi to the two captains and fill him up with more grog as part of an initiation ceremony, and then ... What's that you say? It's been done before? Oh ...
  21. The Hawthorn board are waiting until after the grand final before deciding on whether to launch major legal proceedings against the Melbourne Football Club under trade practices legislation for deceptive and misleading conduct in allowing it to poach Cameron Bruce and Kyle Cheney from the club at the end of the 2010 season.
