  2. Come back quick Mike Sheahan. Your newspaper's being taken over by Sportsnewsfirst!

  4. Nothing about it on the Collingwood website, Swan's Facebook or the Drug Squad's Twitter page so it must be untrue!
  5. You don't understand recessive genes? Just take a look at what GWS is paying $2m for this year!
  6. They have more - they've got the Voldemort family. Overweight and overpaid dad. Fake tan sister and the honest little lord with the dunnybrush haircut. You really can't ask for more.
  7. Why would it make the club look sad? The club's moved on from the little pt1ck and said nothing after the press conference to announce he was p1ssing off to GWS for the money. We supporters, on the other hand, have every right to have a bit of fun at Scully's expense and to speculate about who the next Scully is going to be and there will be more. Let there be no doubt that there are Essendon fans out there who are very nervous about the prospect of losing him to that mob. They also know that even if Hurley stays, there will be a cost to the club in the form of salary cap pressure which is likely to force other needed players out.
  8. $cully's teammate and fellow GW$ leadership group member Setanta showing true leadership by example in an intraclub match whilst he was still at Carlton - A class act and could there be another AFL club around with a better balance of professionalism in its leadership group than this mob? Setanta and his antics and Voldemort and his loyal and honest approach to his club?
  9. Anyone see the Northern Blues new jumper? Navy blue with a CFC monogram in the front and a white horizontal sash. The old Bullants are finished. Same with Box Hill. Their jumper is a Hawks jumper and the Mustangs are gone. Looks like Casey to follow. The thing is that we're supposed to be located there partly to increase membership numbers but the locals don't really come out in their numbers to support the team unless it's to support someone like Fev. If we're not attracting many people we might as well play out of Toorak Park and be the Prahran Demons.
  10. By golly you're right. I think I might start a thread on that very subject.
  11. Worried about 30+ goal defeats? Ring the Adelaide Football Club and ask for Dean. When Dean comes to the phone, let loose with your emotions and tell him.
  12. Several issues here including the fact that, despite being committed to the club, he doesn't become a Demon till November, 2012. What about insurance for a player not on your list? Why do it when you can't play him throughout the season?
  13. The AGM's coming up soon. Perhaps you or someone else will ask the question?
  14. There was a rumour going around before we drafted Scully to the effect that he was the bastard illegitimate child of a former Carlton player and that the Blues were going to get the AFL to allow them to draft him under the F/S rule. It panned out that the rumour was untrue but once I saw what his old man looked like, I started having my doubts. Anyway, I think if the DNA can prove paternity that the F/S rule must apply.
  15. Possibly slowing down as a result of putting on all that weight recently. The MFC site has an article on the time trials. - Nicholson tops time-trial The article state that 23 out of 25 players improved their times from the last run.
  16. What time did Phil do for the course?
  17. Brown should know about playing in a forward pocket. That was where he played the best.
  18. My attempt at the opening words of the preface by Sir Les Pattinson FMD "Never before in the annals of Australian literature has there been an historical narrative dealing with sport so stirringly and emotionally recounted than Orange & Charcoal - Recollections and tales of a tragic football club." Please add as you see fit ...
  19. IMO the rebuild was undergoing the wrong direction. To simply bring in young players for the sake of getting games into their legs is fine in theory but players need to be ready and to earn a game as well. In that respect, the new direction flagged by Neeld and co is a promising one.
  20. I think savoydee might mean "another McKenzie" in terms of a player who flew under the radar and wasn't really fancied when drafted but turned into a really good one after a year's grounding at the club. As for his kicking, I beg to differ in that I don't believe our midfield set ups under Bailey were particularly conducive to producing good disposal by foot. Our players were often hurried coming out of the middle and had less protection when doing so and I believe this often affected their disposal, particularly by foot. I'll be very interested to see what Neeld does with our midfield set ups and how he can effect improvement in that division which was often found wanting in the past despite the efforts of players like Moloney, Jones and McKenzie.
  21. There's no better way to start the New Year than see what the betting agencies have in store for us. On the basis that I never take things more than one game at a time, I'm content to look no further than round one and I like what I see - • Greater Western Sydney $10.00 v Sydney $1.05 • Richmond $4.95 v Carlton $1.17 • Hawthorn $2.05 v Collingwood $1.75 • Melbourne $1.43 v Brisbane $2.80 • Gold Coast $3.65 v Adelaide $1.28 • Fremantle $2.35 v Geelong $1.59 • North Melbourne $2.05 v Essendon $1.75 • Western Bulldogs $2.50 v West Coast $1.52 • Port Adelaide $3.50 v St. Kilda $1.30
  22. And that's not to mention some wild scenes of celebration in one of Mumbai's backstreets amid which new million dollar fortunes were made overnight with the result of the test and the dismissal of the Sydney to Hobart protest. Surely, there going to double up in the Sydney test when VeeweeS scores a double ton!
  23. Sir, we've been doing banana fritters for so long here that it's time to do something constructive with them. I propose that from this day forward the father of HWSNBN should be called Phil Banana Fritter and that henceforth the son shall go by the name Tom Banana Fritter. And may their careers in Bleaktown always be associated with the turdlike qualities and appearance of their new surname.
