Happy with Juice's debut. Despite a few signs of inexperience and nerves, he did us proud. He's a certainty to retain his spot on that performance and the fact that Neitz will miss next week won't hurt his chances either. I think it's a pity that he had to be dragged for dropping that chest mark in the last quarter and that we didn't see him much at CHF where he would have had some more space to move around.

Trip? That was no trip, it was a figure 4 leg lock executed in a style that would have done Mario Milano proud. I checked the rule book and there's nothing in there banning figure 4 leg locks so the umpire's decision to allow play on was correct.

Is it just me or does anyone else think she rears her ugly head whenever Melbourne's down and needs to be kicked a bit more? She might be well informed most of the time but on this issue the club is doing the right thing carrying out a full review at this time. It can no longer affect our finals chances and seeing we're headed for a bottom eight finish, there's not much difference between finishing 10th or 16th and I'd prefer to run with youth for the rest of the season and not the hacks. I don't want to lose games but, at least by going with youth, we find out who can play and who can't.

Another misleading headline to a thread. Here was I worrying about whether the Salvos would be rattling their tins at our next match and wondering why such a nice man like Paul Gardner would fire one of them!

Clinton Newton, son of champion golfer Jack Newton, will take his place as a prop in the Melbourne Storm line up again this week - Clint's stormy new home. If you want to know about Michael Newton and his chances of selection with the Melbourne Demons, you might have to wait till Thursday night when the team is announced.

Sorry, I can't even attempt it and keep a straight face at the same time .

In the 22 to play for Mebourne. but he's an emergency so he could still play.

We need Byron to beat Richmond?
-
Could be a late change to the Collingwood line up tomorrow with Danny Stanley not playing for Williamstown today.
-
The Brownlow Medallist is back in town playing for WAFL against VFL. I wonder if we're going to get anybody here tonight saying he'd be handy in the red and blue these days?
-
I read in the Herald Sun that Adem Yze and Daniel Ward are also under an injury cloud and may not play tomorrow. WTF's going on at this club? Not a day goes past without there being a report of yet another injury. What was all that preseason training all about? We and St. Kilda are becoming a laughing stock!

Possible late change - Warnock for Petterd?
Deeman replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
A better alternative would be that Petterd is in and the club's taken Warnock over there for insurance. -
Just how on earth do you have a mild nightmare?

Jeez, I thought this thread was going to be all about the yellow maggots!

Back from Sydney this arvo and I'm sorry I took on the responsibility of casting votes for Saturday night's game. Still, here goes - 6. Jared Rivers 5. Aaron Davey 4. Ricky Petterd um, er 3. Cameron Bruce 2. Brent Moloney 1. Simon Godfrey

I'll be in Sydney at the weekend so I volunteer.

All that's well and good and it's comforting that our "injury plague" is going to turn around at some time in the future and that our opponents might feel some of the same pain one day but what about injecting some youth into the equation? How is it that the bottom side, one of only two in the competition that is winless at this stage, has not introduced any new blood into the side despite having such an extensive injury list? Look at Collingwood which finished around where we did last year. Shannon Cox, Brad Dick and Alan Toovey were introduced into their team three weeks ago and since then they've won two out of three and their Anzac Day win is being hailed as The Moment of Youth in today's Age sports supplement. Perhaps that's one of the reasons they are playing in front of bumper crowds and we're playing in front of empty stands. Our failure to bring in young players is shameful!

Another contrast to last week was the free kick count. At one stage it was 12-5 in Brisbane's favour.

Who cares? The nab challenge is irrelevant according to most posters!
-
In other words there's no use discussing the practice matches because they're junk!
-
Anyone going to the practice match tonight? I'd be interested to know if Michael Newton and Isaac Weetra play and, if so, how they went.
-
With respect to both lads, I reckon they might have been delisted because they weren't good enough.

They said on the 9 news that Ward had apologised to the playing group this morning. Apparently didn't go to the family day though.
