  1. Ah yes, totally agree. Is he out of contract now?
  2. Yes that's the downside, you gotta trade quality to get quality. But lets be realistic, i don't think we will be a serious contender until 2009, or even later The likes of Johnstone (great game today), Bruce, Green could provide us that first round pick we need to chase.
  3. We have to get another pick in the top 10, pick 6-10 and hopefully closer to 6. We need to get a quick midfielder and a tall forward or back. We need to aim for Henderson and Ebert (Cotchin won't be around at pick 4). of the teams behind us on picks: #5 Bulldogs #6 The Scum #7 Freo #8 Lions Freo will be the one more willing to give away the pick, given they believe there time is now. The dogs, Bombers and Lions will all go for the youth option. With this in mind, i reckon we should target Henderson with the #4 pick (as the Dogs will get him if he's there), then if we get another top 10 pick, go after our quick midfielder (hopefully Ebert). We'd then have pick 21, where we could draft a ruckman or maybe get Selwood if he's still around (but i doubt it).
  4. You must have a different video then Bobby. My old man was there at the game and has the tape of it (he's on it too!!!). The first raw from all the melbourne members is when Dunstall puts the Hawks in front for the first time that day, with about 90 seconds to go. Melbourne were up by almost 3 goals at the time (so most members knew that we had the game sewn up) and most supporters were on the radios listening to the Geelong v Hawks game. Our game finished before the Hawks game. Most of the Dees supporters stayed at the Whitten oval waiting for the siren after our game, and when it did.........Pandemonium!!!
  5. That would be 4th pick. 1........Carlton (PP) Kreuzer 2........Richmond Cotchin (damn, i really wanted him) 3........Carlton Morton 4........Melbourne Hopefully Brad Ebert Melbourne really need pace and class in the mid-field. With that in mind, and with Cotchin gone no doubt before our pick, we should go after Brad Ebert. Why??? Because he runs hard, has got a big tank, has a big body, has a big kick, shows great leadership, has class and skill and he has some dash about him too. Whilst Cotchin may be more silky and ooze class, Ebert goes in a bit harder and is a bit quicker i think (but trials will tell all). If we are able to off-load a big name (ala Trav, Bruce, etc) during trade week and gain another top 10 pick (unlikely i know) it will lessen the effect of not having a higher pick if we lose to Carlton.
  6. It would have been very obvious to the media why Bailey wasn't at the Power's training today. They asked him a direct question, and he doesn't have to keep the situation quiet for the MFC.
  7. Exactly right. If anyone thinks that this is a conservative, then they better leave Pluto and come back down to Earth. Trying virtually an 'unknown' is the most unpredictable thing the MFC could have done here. Too conservative, my ass it is. This is a bloody bold and daring move, something the MFC need more of. For all those out there that are knocking our new coach, lets just wait and see how he goes. Just be thankful Connolly wasn't appointed. However i wouldn't mind seeing him in a marketing role at the Dees.
  8. A bold move from the MFC and its directors. They stayed committed to the process and deserve credit for that. Since Bailey is relatively unknown, the marketing of this club may be somewhat lessened than if Sheedy were to have been given the nod, membership too (given the year from hell). I just hope that the MFC really know what they are doing, a gutsy decision to appoint basically an unknown, if it pays off kudos, if it doesn't............ i don't even want to go there. As it has been well documented, this decision can either make or break us. We cannot afford to be back in the same place in another 10 years. Lets hope it pays off. Welcome Dean, may you be the savior that turns the MFC's fortunes around. I bloody hope you are!!!
  9. Below the naked guy on the bike is a weight watcher's advertisement. I love it.
  10. Whilst i would welcome the new members, and we'll need em after this year from hell, i would still look at them unfavourably. I would much prefer 25,000 mad, passionate Melbourne supporters at a game, than 30,000-35,000 who are there just because Sheedy is the coach.
  11. The Dees are paying $1.33 at tab sportsbet, very good money. Surely there is someone out there that will put atleast 200k on us to win this Sunday. It is a certainty. There is no way in the world that Carlton will give up the 1st and even possibly the 2nd draft picks. The Tigers had better lose this weekend, I could not live with the fact that the Blues would snare both Kreuzer and Cotchin, they are deliberately throwing games (cheating) and will be rewarded for it. In order to counter this move, we the MFC must do the unthinkable and throw the game ourselves, not for the higher draft pick, but only to really [censored] off Carlton and their supporters, if we did Carlton will have literally got nothing out of this year. In a perfect world we would thump this rabble into the turf and would be rewarded for it with Carlton not getting the #1 pick. The system needs to be changed now, but even then it would have been too late.
  12. Too right Jaded. This just in.....................Chuck Norris has stated he would like to lead the Dees forward from '08, Gardner and Harris cannot believe there luck and have just left the board meeting heading straight for the US to put pen to paper. More news when it is at hand.
  13. And the sun will continue to shine, due to the AFL taking away Carlton's priority pick for tanking
  14. This mark puts Jezza's to shame. Look how high he's up!!!
  15. Apparently Wells suffered a knee injury at training yesterday. Just thought it would be worth posting. They don't know the exntent of the damage yet though.
  16. Oh don't worry, Carlton will find a way to lose. They have so much more to lose if they win than we do.
  17. If we could snare Warnock through a trade (doubtful i know), there would be little reason to go after Kreuzer. We do look slow in the mid-field, and with Bartram no doubt going to play in the backline and become the heir apparent of Wrecker, we need to find some pace. Of those names, Cotchin and Ebert possess good speed. I wouldn't mind trying to trade a player and picks to upgrade or get another rather high first rounder (again doubtful) and use it to draft Henderson (he has been injured during this year, so hopefully he might slip down the order a little). At 196cm and 92kg, he could become our CHF or FF and work in tandem with Juice, with the likes of Bate and Dunn rotating through the forward line as well. Given that this draft is being touted as one that's somewhat shallow, maybe other teams might be more willing to trade involving picks.
  18. If winning the spoon means that in '08 we make the pre-lim and 2010 we make the granny (ala 10 years ago), i'd be able to live with it. However, i don't think we will be anywhere remotely near top 4 material next year, or for a few years.
  19. Yep, the 3 teams will definately suffer some mysterious illness. My money is on the Equine Influenza to spread from the stables to the Junction Oval.
  20. Well if Lucas is considered a champion, then Neita should definitely be listed as a champion.
  21. it definitely needs to come under review by the AFL, Carlton are clearly tanking and yet they get away with it. I reckon that the priority system needs to be removed. Surely getting the first pick in draft is enough. Round 22 will be very interesting, although i don't condone it, if Melbourne lose just for the sake of taking away Carlton's priority pick, some part of me will be content in the fact that we stuffed up Carlton's plans big time. Yes, i would take some heart from that
  22. Give it to Junior, he's playing his best footy of his career and he's 30-something. He goes hard at the ball all day. I would still love Neita to be captain, but he needs to let go of the reigns and help the new captain in his last year (presumably) at the club.
  23. I hope the filth get smashed out of the finals in the first week, meaning he will miss the first 3 matches of next year too. That will give him 7 months to realise what a dog he is.
  24. I saw him at the Sandy game yesterday, in the Grandstand. He was sitting alongside Riley. My greatest moment of him was that Bulldogs match back in '05. Got it on tape, and love the celebrations at the end, particularly that mighty embrace Danners and Fagan gave each other. He loved the place, and had an extremely strong friendship with Danners. New coach, New footy manager, New assistants (???), new captain (???) It is definately the end of an era at the MFC.
  25. Perhaps they're saving it for tomorrow, hopefully with Neita being chaired off the ground after a successful night
