  1. Rivers played as the general of our back line for many years, similar to how Bizzell did. Was a good solid backman, who always took the saving grabs. Pity, but alas we move on. One would think that Pederson will now make his way to the Dees, to play the role Riv did. If i was Garland, i'd be wanting to make sure i took over Rivers' position, or he could be finding himself in the 2's for a lot of next year, given the KPP depth we will now have.
  2. He had a great 1st quarter on the half forward line, against Adelaide in round 21.
  3. Pederson, being 193cm and 100kg (as reported on kangaroos.com.au), would be very capable of holding down a KPD role along with Chip when we play teams with a few hulking forwards. He can pinch hit in the ruck and in the forward line as well. He is similar to Martin, although he's more of a "footballer" than Martin, where as big Stef is more of an "athlete".
  4. Given that we won't have our new recruiting guy until after this year's draft, it looks like we are going after seasoned players, as we know what they can do (apart from Hogan). When the new recruiter comes in, i believe we will then look to invest through the draft, which would appear to be more mids. This is the more preferred option, as mids generally take less time to adjust to AFL than the talls.
  5. It was clear during the 2012 pre-season training reports, that Blease and Gysberts were getting driven hard by the coaches, more so than most. Blease responded magnificently and has been rewarded for his effort, he now understands what is required of him and he is willing to push himself to become a more complete player with his aim to improve his endurance and defensive running in the off-season. Gysberts has been left in Blease's dust and has fallen behind the pack a long way. Depending on what Neeld thinks, he may be too far back to catch up, resulting in him being traded or there may still be a flicker of hope yet. Ultimately, the decision has been Gysberts the entire time.
  6. Yeah, pretty hard for us to f this up. We either get Toumpas, who possess fantastic speed and skill and can rack it up, or we get Wines who is ferocious at the contest can rack it up and good skill and decision making. Either way, if we get one, we need to make it a priority to get the 'other' skill type in next years draft.
  7. What cannot be denied is that Watts is by far and away the best kick in our team. He is also a bloody good decision maker, and rarely seems to get caught with the ball, like Pendlebury, he just seems to have extra time when he has the ball. Is he what we expected for a pick #1? No. But he possesses what we severely lack and desperately need............Good disposal.
  8. Saw someone post a team with Matt Thomas on a back pocket in the page before. Not much to do with our team, but saw him at the gym i go to today. Not overly big up top, but jeez he's got some decent sized legs on him, particularly his hamstrings (which are notoriously hard to pack on size).
  9. Agree with your last bit Fence. Pederson could provide the assistance needed in the forward line next year, then move back into defense and help sure up CHB when Hogan comes in. He is the same height as Frawley and is 7 kg heavier, so is definitely capable of playing as a KPP.
  10. The best KPF's in this draft are Stringer and Mason Shaw. Shaw was behind Hogan playing for WA this year, whilst Stringer is recovering from a horrific injury (he might even be available come pick 20). GC would like the idea of spreading the age of their new draftees coming in, even if it is only an extra year (gives them greater balance). There are also big advantages in bringing a kid in a year early, in that they have an extra years development at an AFL club.
  11. Or out on the footy field either. Vlastuin's time is coming, Viney will make sure of that!!!!
  12. No, because he needs to be de-listed first.
  13. One would assume that Whitfield and Grundy will be gone by our pick (don't want Grundy anyway). That means that the likes of Toumpas, O'Rourke and Wines will be there at 3 & 4. Hopefully Toumpas is there at pick 4, making the decision all too easy.
  14. I would too. At least these things look like they are doing something. ........................That and you can't take your eyes off them, when was the last time we could say that about Morton (if ever at all)?
  15. why not try and get him to go through the PSD? We need to pick up some quality there surely.
  16. Stuff Dawes, i'd go after Pederson. He could fill either CHF or CHB next year, then when Hogan comes in, he can move permanently to CHB. He's 193cm and 100kg, is the same height as Frawley and 7kg heavier. we aren't going to be challenging for the flag next year (one wouldn't suspect - stranger things have not happened ), so we aren't in dire need of a CHF.
  17. if that was to take place, we'd have the slowest midfield by a long long way. Would rather Wines to be honest.
  18. Yep agree with you guys here. I'd be taking Toumpas ahead of Wines, purely because he has greater pace and a better kick than Wines. If Toumpas is gone by pick 4, then i would be tossing up between O'Rourke and Wines. Dom Barry has explosive pace yes, but he's more of a winger. We need players with explosive pace, who are able to play in the guts.
  19. would rather Toumpas (likely to GWS) or O'Rourke over Wines, as they both offer something different, whereas Wines offers more of the same as Viney.
  20. assuming that both Rivers and Moloney go through FA, i would expect a 2nd rounder as compensation. Would be happy to on-trade that for Dawes and swap of our 3rd round picks. Also wouldn't mind trading the Pies 3rd rounder for Pederson to help hold down a defensive post. Netting us Hogan, Barry, Viney, Dawes, Pederson and leaving us with picks 4 and 20 for mids in the ND.
  21. Everyone seems to be forgetting a kid Neeld drafted last year, in Rory Taggert. He hits the contest hard and has a good kick on him. I reckon he might have a thing or two to do with our re-shaping midfield.
  22. so the deal might look like 3+13 for Hogan+20+Barry? Why Barry over someone like Jed Anderson Nudge (if you know)?
  23. That's what happens when you have a coach who isn't afraid to go after what he wants, as opposed to one being lead around by the nose, by an incompetent recruiting manager.
  24. Yep, and if we get the likes of Dawes, Hogan and Pederson, i'd be more than willing to trade him for the right price (top 10-12 pick).
