  1. This Kim Hagdorn couldn't hit the side of a barn house. Nevertheless, if the Burns/Craig option turns out to be true, i guess it means Connolly will be packing his bags. "Burns, 36, could take over as Demons head coach with Craig as his director of coaching to oversee the entire football and development department." Again Hagdorn hasn't a clue and is putting on a blindfold and throwing darts willy nilly, hoping one hits.
  2. Not a bad night to join. It isn't aways as epic as tonight has been!!! Feel sorry for Saints fans and the club, Mark Harvey commiserations (no matter how much of a bad coach you are, no one deserves to be treated the way you are). Here's hoping the Freo+Lyon arrangements falls in a heap. Surely you can't get away with murder in the middle of Times Square can you!!!
  3. Striker you muppet, this says nothing about the MFC. It is now known that Ross Lyon sought out the Dockers, who have offered him $7.5m/5 years. 2 Things, i) There is no way we could afford $1.5m a season and ii) It is now obvious that even if Melbourne threw the kitchen sink at Ross, he still wouldn't have come, as it seems he had made an agreement with the Dockers 5 weeks ago. This situation says nothing of Melbourne, more-so the character of Ross Lyon and the Fremantle Football Club. Go back to digging your hole of pessimism.
  4. Does it matter loges? For all we know, BLWNBA might work at a kindergarten! Maybe even a morgue!!! God i miss Chilliboy something chronic. As for YM, i'm sure they're (was their gender ever confirmed?) out there somewhere, doing what they do best. I loved how whenever we picked a kid they didn't agree with, the world came crashing down, only for them to do a complete 180 after some posters showed their enthusiasm. Case in point - Jack Grimes over Alex Rance.
  5. The problem with Warnock is that he is slow and can only really play on the Gorilla full-forwards. Chip on the other hand, is way more attacking, quicker, more aggressive and can play on all types of forwards. Only really room for one of them in the back-line, and i'd even select Chip of Warnock even if he only had one leg. First rounder required, . I wish, i'd be happy with just an upgrade of picks or as a little sweetener.
  6. Agree, the similarities between Steven Stretch and Cale Morton in physical attributes and skills is very similar. But that's where it stops. Stretch whilst not the most aggressive or physical player, did not shirk contests or get intimidated by them, and this is where he reigns so much more supreme than Morton.
  7. As much as it pains me to say it, i'd actually prefer to see the filth win the premiership. That way Malthouse and the filth would come to the conclusion that he has achieved all that he could with them, and both parties would feel that neither owed anything to the other. Allowing for the smoothest transition possible for Mick to come to the Dees. Sure Eddie might huff and puff, just nowhere near as much than if there was a sense of unfinished business, should they not take out the premiership.
  8. Who on earth knows what's going on behind closed doors. I wouldn't be too upset if we got Matthews as our 'director of coaching' with one of Burns/Neeld/Sanderson/etc to fulfil the senior assistant role for a few years then they step into the senior gig. Who knows, we might even wander into a situation similar to Collingwoods' predicament right now. If that were to be the case, i bloody wouldn't be complaining! Failing that, maybe look at Craig as the director and get one of the senior assistants to drive the bus.
  9. Kaspersky will stay on as a sponsor, just not as joint major sponsor. Which still leaves the front of our jumper up for grabs. Why not just go back to BoM and see if they're still interested? Given what we have gone through recently, it would generate a lot of good press for us if we were able to announce our new coach, sponsor and possible mini-draft player al within a couple of weeks. It would give us some real momentum going into the pre-season and the season proper.
  10. Mick Malthouse definitely has a few screws loose upstairs if you ask me. You can't really take anything he says too seriously, or you too will end up in the loony bin. Just look >
  11. Yeah, for all the bravado and info. we were told last night re:Ross staying at the Saints, there has not even been anything remotely close to such a situation in the media today. If it were the case, there would have at least been something. There is still more water to pass under the bridge me thinks!
  12. Ha, there is no way we could land 2 picks in the mini draft is there? You would just about have to sell your soul to achieve this. If it were possible, ie couple a compensation pick + experienced out of favour player such as a Warnock/Bate/etc, and then downgrade some later round picks to GWS, then i'd be all for it. Imagine getting O'Meara, Crouch and Viney coming in all in the same year. Simply wouldn't be possible. If we were able to achieve this, then i would definitely be going for Todd Elton in this years draft (that's if our pick hasn't been involved in some sought of trade to get another pick in the mini draft). One can dream!
  13. Agree with you here John. Elton would be a great get for us at pick 12. He will take some time to bulk up, but not as long as Watts and Cook required, as his frame is physically more mature. Plus i love the way he uses it to get at the ball, it's about time we got some physical aggression from a KPF, back in our forward line.
  14. I reckon we should. Simply because this kid is going to be something very special. We cannot get scared off from the 'he who must not be named' incident. That is a 'once in an eternity' situation. One that will not be repeated in a long long time. These mini-draft picks are the equivalent of #1 picks for next year (- Lachie Whitfield). O'Meara is everything Scully was at the same age, only with better explosive pace and vastly superior disposal. Whether or not we can land him is one thing, but we need to develop our own stars. This kid is similar to 'you know who' in that the chance of him turning into a star is more likely than not. Our most important players have been tucked away, i'd be very willing to offer both compo picks for O'Meara, simply because, even though the 2012 draft is meant to be unbelievable, every Tom, Dick and Harry will be looking to take advantage of the first undiluted draft and use their compo picks here, further pushing some of ours down the pecking order. And let's not forget, just because we have signed up the likes of Morton, doesn't mean we can't trade them, we just need their consent, but are protecting ourselves from walkouts. The only problem with drafting O'Meara is, with all excitement that would come with it, we'd still have to wait 12 months, who's not to say that a Sam Blease incident won't take place??? But i'm willing to take the risk!
  15. The plight we are in and Bailey continues to refuse to dig the boots in. He is all class, pure and simple.
  16. Totally agree. Our best bet is by stroking his ego. Maybe throw in that we haven't won a flag in nearly 50 years, the person who brings the next one will be instantly immortalised, etc could surely do no harm in alluring him over.
  17. I believe that the stay at home full forward we should be looking at is Todd Elton come draft time. Sure he's young and will need time to develop, but he is more advanced in his body than the likes of Cook and Watts were when they first came onto our list.
  18. i'd be willing to give both compo picks for Omeara, and a scully for Jager swap would be win/win. But another way to look at it is we would have given up/lost Scully + 2 first-round compo picks to GWS for a player that was never theirs in the first place. If it is consider a win for us, then it is daylight robbery from a GWS perspective.
  19. if by ripper shape you mean very slim/skinny, i'd say you'd be spot on. He has definitely lost a bit of weight from his playing days. He is very light on, too much so imo.
  20. I reckon for all intensive purposes on the new coach possibility, that Ross Lyon be typed as RL and Garry Lyon as GL. Only because reading Lyon says that Lyon is doing this or that it can get a little confusing,
  21. That's what i'd like to know as well. Earlier on in the day everyone was up in arms when SEN were stipulating that Lyon was meeting with the Saints players' to say he was going to the Demons, obviously a smoking gun. Now on the back of a 2 second piece at the end of a sports report (the likes of which a year 2 student could have done) it's all changed again??? LOL, please either way, whatever decision Lyon comes to will be sports leading stuff, not some whimsical piece of jargon. The gullibility of some people on these boards is unbelievable. I wouldn't put it past some here to start to believe rumour and innuendo coming from a brick wall. Getting excited because of some cr@p from SEN saying he's leaving, now getting upset because of "late mail" that he is staying. Talk about impulsive.
  22. I liked Tom Harley's analogy from a while back. Offence sells memberships, defence wins premierships. But then i suppose if you had all of the back line, forward line and midfield down pat (like the Lions of 2001-2004) then anything is possible!
  23. Tom Scully clearly isn't the most intelligent lad going around. His VCE score will attest to that. But don't try and pull the wool over everyone's eyes Tom. We know the way you went about it all year, trying to avoid responsibility of your actions and continuing to try and spin your web of lies is fooling no-one, just your integrity. If you had any self-respect, which is becoming more and more evident that you don't (you have put your reputation through the mud all year, now you're just ripping it to shreds with continual lies), you would have told us the truth. Am i upset that you have gone, no. Because i don't want someone of your calibre anywhere near my club. I'd look at recruiting Fevola before you. The only reason i am p!$$ed off, is because you lied through your teeth to Jimmy. The one man who truly deserves the truth. He defended you all year and you have just spat in his face, not becuase you decided to leave, but because you continually lied to him, to his face. I'm not a religious man, quite the non-believer, but i do believe that each is entitled to their own. I take great comfort from the fact that "God" who will no doubt be declaring Jim as his BFF when the time comes, will make sure you rot in hell. The only problem is, our club represents that organisation, and i'm pretty sure the dark prince won't even allow you to come within a million miles of that place either. Your fate is to rot away in that Great hole of Western Sydney. AAAAHHHHHH, to repent is bliss (from a first timer, lol)
  24. Beamer isn't as serious with his weights as what he once was, as a way to prevent certain injuries But methinks he is gonna put in a huge pre-season over the summer, pumping out serious iron, walk onto the 'G next year as a Hulk doppelganger, then run clean through Scully. Sure he might miss half the season, but boy would it send a message - "we aren't to be fu@#ed with". Then in unison, the members wing stand as one applauding, with "go number 22" reverberating around the 'G, lol.
  25. Honestly, move on from its importance. #31 and #4 have huge history, yes, but have had little significance in terms of recent history. #11, #3, #9, #2 all have more meaning nowadays than the former 2. Hopefully #4 will become a great number again, but only because of the guy who is wearing it now. Hell, #20 holds more emotion for me than #4 or #31, but that's because i'm youngish. Let the past be the past, and let great numbers arise from great deeds that are performed today, not from half a century ago!
