What i like about Freeman is the muscle he has in his legs. He is stated as 85kgs, and by the looks of that, particularly in a full body shot seen on demonland of him, a lot of that muscle is from the waist down. If you've got strong legs, generally you are able to withstand tackles muxh better and remain on your feet. Have a look at Ollie Wines, his legs are enormous, and he goes alright in the middle.

Apparently even with pick #2, there were 3 players we were interested in drafting and are still hoping at least 1 (if not all) of those 3 will be thereabouts at pick #9. As has been reported, we have been closely following Kolod???? (whatever), have been rumoured to have strong interest in Freeman, and according to Emma Quayle are also interested in Lennon. I'd be happy with any one of those 3, but my preference would be in the order of Freeman, Lennon then Kolod???? Purely because Freeman is/has been a pure mid, whereas Lennon is considered more of a HFF-mid and Kolod??? HBF-mid.

It seems all the trading we needed to do, we have done and in a flurry of activity within the space of 48 hours. Anything extra we get out of the remainder of the trade period will just be a bonus.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON
Demon Disciple replied to angrydee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Written in a Herald Sun article in today's paper that the MFC strongly believe that if Tyson was available in this year's draft, he'd be the clear #2 selection behind Tom Boyd. Make of that what you will........................ -
That may include upgraded rookies though. So if we were to upgrade Clisby, we'd only need to draft 2 players. Obviously pick 9 and then our next pick (40?).
-
yeah i feel that our after 2nd round compo pick (which has now become pick 23, is a bit overs for Vince). Couple the pick with the one we got from GWS (54?) and get both Vince and Lyons.

Tomas Bugg & Matt Buntine
Demon Disciple replied to Weekends at Bernie's's topic in Melbourne Demons
SO GWS were offering Bugg + Buntine + pick 9 for our Pick 2. MFC should go back and say Shiel + Pick 9 for pick 2. Of course that will be rejected. We then go back and say Shiel for Pick 2, it makes it look like we are being the more reasonable by bringing in our demands. 2 players plus pick 9, into 1 player plus pick 9, into 1 player. Hopefully that dimwit SOS will at least see it that way, lol! -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE

Good trade proposal. Fair for both sides. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE

pick 20 for Vince is a bit overs imo (given he will play for 3 years then probably retire). If it allows us to get Lyons for a pittance, then it'd make it a bit easier to swallow. -
Only interested in dealing with GWS if it involves Dylan Shiel, otherwise no thanks. As had previously been said, to get quality you've gotta give quality. We know that they want Boyd at 1, and are really fond of Scharenberg, well they need to rightly cough up something good for us.

James Frawley .. need him to commit
Demon Disciple replied to Demon_Tingles's topic in Melbourne Demons
Frawley talks about leadership and wanting to remain in the leadership group. Well, what better way for him to display such qualities by committing to a long-term deal. -
What should happen is FA last for a week, then the following 2 weeks is the trade period. That way, clubs know the compensation they'll receive before the trade period begins.

I don't know why, but Mahoney continually leaves me feeling like the way Royal did, when he first became an assistant Under Neeld at the MFC, or when we drafted Cook at pick 12. Let's just say i'm underwhelmed.

And i came on here hoping to read a bit more about Dylan Shiel. FMD

I'd almost prefer Dew to stay at Sydney for next year, we'd then be more likely to have Roos for 3 years as opposed to 2. Ain't nothing wrong with that!!!!
-
Throw in Nathan Bassett as well, can't hurt!

Colin Sylvia going ... going ... GONE!
Demon Disciple replied to burfy174's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ding, Ding , Ding, Ding, Ding!!! This, absolutely this. -
So, where to from here with pick 2?
Demon Disciple replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Definitely don't want pick 2 to be part of any trade proposition, but i wouldn't mind us trying to go after Savage. -
And if we're lucky, Dunstan or Jones will be available for our second rounder (maybe we take both - if Sylvia decides to go). Adams, Crouch, Dunstan, Jones Jnr, Viney, Toumpas and Jones. We all thought the same thing back in 2009, but surely, that might have the makings of a good midfield.

Why not, not the worst idea in the world to draft Thorp. You just don't lose talent overnight, he has his head in the right spot and given that there's a massive question mark over Clark and Dawes seems to breakdown every second week, he could provide a decent back-up option, and wouldn't cost the world, a late pick in the draft, maybe even available at a rookie pick.
-
how about Nathan Bassett? He's doing wonders at Norwood
-
If it were to be Ling, as already stated it would probably mean that Roos would be likely to stay on into a 3rd year as coach of our club, and that can only be a good thing, for the supporters, the players and Ling!

S Selwood is a rich man's Jordie McKenzie, basically, a really really rich man.
-
The only reason he was able to get onto an AFL list is purely because of Liam Jurrah (much like Alwin getting the chance because of Flash). Doesn't have a 10th of Liam's ability, not his fault the Suns decided to draft him, but definitely not worth considering, not even on the rookie list.

What i'm most happy about, if it turns out to be true, is the reported term of contract for Roos. I don't want Roos for a couple of years then for a succession plan to be in place, i want an experienced coach for a much more long term agreement, as i'm under no illusion as to how long it will probably take to turn our club around. If, as reported, he wants at least 5 years, i'll be jumping over the moon.
