  1. HS went one way, so the AGE decided to hedge their bets and go the other, just in case they were right and the HS was wrong. Neither one of MS or CW would know what is happening in terms of our footy department. That became glaringly obvious when MS stated that Ross Lyon was more likely than not to head to the Dees, and when Caro produced the gem that the filth wanted to keep Neeld on until after their campaign, which has turned out to be so far from the truth a blind man could see a likelier outcome. What this past week has shown, is that you should not trust a word said, unless it has officially come from the club
  2. There is no doubt in my mind that Beamer would excel in the role as captain. It would mean that much to him, probably go as close to as much as it meant to Garry Lyon or Robbie Flower. No doubt if he was captain, unlike someone now, if he was having a bad game, he would do something about it. My only negative is that he is not old, but getting on a bit. Our greatest captains have been one's that have had time to grow into the role and make it their own. Not just some fill in until the next heir apparent presents himself. That's where Trengove comes in. He is all class, presents well to the media, has shown fantastic faith in the club, plays with his heart on his sleeve. He actually truly hurts when we lose (not that many at our club do). Trengove is mature beyond his years, and sure he is young, but think of how much of a better captain he would be if he was able to learn how to deal with it from a young age, learn from the mistakes that will certainly arise. The negatives that are bound to come up, would help make him become a better player, person and captain. We are a young group, and i want someone to lead this group all the way through to maturity. Grow with the players, as they themselves grow too. Grimes would be a great captain, but at the moment, he has got to make his body his top priority. If Beamer was a few years younger then maybe. But for what this club needs, Trengove has the answers, or if not, he will do his absolute best to get them. But hey, i'm not part of the playing group or the inner sanctum. But something tells me that they would have learned a lot from naming Brad Green as captain last year.
  3. For those contemplating giving Grimes the captaincy, injuries aside, Trengove has played more games for the MFC than him. So why not Trengove? Age - lol, please. If Junior and Green can get it during the twilights' of their careers, why can't Trenners get it at the start. He's the type that would grow as a player from it. He'd relish the opportunity, he'd take it with both hands run up to GWS, and wack it over $cully's money hungry head.
  4. Yeah well if it eventuates, I'll be the first to come over and give you a big hug, but until such time, I ain't gonna count the chickens til they hatch.
  5. [censored] Rusty, you'd be the type of bloke on Grand Final day upset that we've just won a flag, because you don't want to stop at one!!!
  6. One down 2 to go. The announcement of our second joint major sponsor, and the drafting of Jaeger O'Meara. Go Dees! To all you pessimists, go back into your holes!
  7. If this is the case, we have done very well indeed. Gotten the best senior assistant coach up for grabs, as well as attained the enormous experience and sport science knowledge of Neill Craig! Me too Choko, aside from getting MM (who unfortunately seems not to have been available) this is the best best option. Problem is DeOx, how can we catch something that was never in the pond in the first place? Doesn't bother me either way. The sooner he comes the better, however, hiring a 2-time premiership senior assistant coach would bring in even more success. Yep, Craig's defensive mindset as well as vast expertise in sports science will do wonders at our club. And Neeld's experience gained from possibly a 2xpremiership winning team can only be a good thing. What's more, we'd have brought in 2 people with fantastic credentials that is outside of the old mates' club. A big round of applause to one G Lyon if this is what transpires!!! We are bringing in 2 highly regarded people from 2 very well run organisations. And have stolen Neeld from the grasps of Adelaide's hands!!! And it's a Friday night too!!! And we're not gonna lose this week either!!! You fukin beauty!!!
  8. I'd love for him to come out in his press conference and firmly state that he favoured us over any of the other teams, "i had several offers, but i considered the MFC's opportunity to be above and beyond any other. At the end of the day, there was only really one choice for me" kind of thing!!! WOuldn't mind Neill Craig coming into the PC too kicking Connolly out of the seat and saying "time for things to be done right"!!!
  9. Well if this is the case, i won't be at all upset. My only question is, even though he has vast experience as a coach in several roles, will we go down the path of appointing a Director of Football such as Neil Craig? I'm sure that Neeld alone would be a fine choice, but there would be no harm in adding another senior figure with a heap of experience and knowledge in Craig to our footy department. As previously stated, like icing on the cake! Our boys club needs to be shaken up, what could be better than a guy from them Pies plus a fella with a wealth of Sports Science knowledge. The Adelaide fellas are huge, don't for one second think that Craig isn't responsible for that! With these 2 in charge, at least our defensive side of things will be sured up, the midfield it seems as well. All that is needed then is to lure big Dawesy and the puzzle is complete! Either that or one G Lyon might be putting the boots back on! He's surely given his back long enough to heal. Go Dees!
  10. This Kim Hagdorn couldn't hit the side of a barn house. Nevertheless, if the Burns/Craig option turns out to be true, i guess it means Connolly will be packing his bags. "Burns, 36, could take over as Demons head coach with Craig as his director of coaching to oversee the entire football and development department." Again Hagdorn hasn't a clue and is putting on a blindfold and throwing darts willy nilly, hoping one hits.
  11. Not a bad night to join. It isn't aways as epic as tonight has been!!! Feel sorry for Saints fans and the club, Mark Harvey commiserations (no matter how much of a bad coach you are, no one deserves to be treated the way you are). Here's hoping the Freo+Lyon arrangements falls in a heap. Surely you can't get away with murder in the middle of Times Square can you!!!
  12. Striker you muppet, this says nothing about the MFC. It is now known that Ross Lyon sought out the Dockers, who have offered him $7.5m/5 years. 2 Things, i) There is no way we could afford $1.5m a season and ii) It is now obvious that even if Melbourne threw the kitchen sink at Ross, he still wouldn't have come, as it seems he had made an agreement with the Dockers 5 weeks ago. This situation says nothing of Melbourne, more-so the character of Ross Lyon and the Fremantle Football Club. Go back to digging your hole of pessimism.
  13. Does it matter loges? For all we know, BLWNBA might work at a kindergarten! Maybe even a morgue!!! God i miss Chilliboy something chronic. As for YM, i'm sure they're (was their gender ever confirmed?) out there somewhere, doing what they do best. I loved how whenever we picked a kid they didn't agree with, the world came crashing down, only for them to do a complete 180 after some posters showed their enthusiasm. Case in point - Jack Grimes over Alex Rance.
  14. The problem with Warnock is that he is slow and can only really play on the Gorilla full-forwards. Chip on the other hand, is way more attacking, quicker, more aggressive and can play on all types of forwards. Only really room for one of them in the back-line, and i'd even select Chip of Warnock even if he only had one leg. First rounder required, . I wish, i'd be happy with just an upgrade of picks or as a little sweetener.
  15. Agree, the similarities between Steven Stretch and Cale Morton in physical attributes and skills is very similar. But that's where it stops. Stretch whilst not the most aggressive or physical player, did not shirk contests or get intimidated by them, and this is where he reigns so much more supreme than Morton.
  16. As much as it pains me to say it, i'd actually prefer to see the filth win the premiership. That way Malthouse and the filth would come to the conclusion that he has achieved all that he could with them, and both parties would feel that neither owed anything to the other. Allowing for the smoothest transition possible for Mick to come to the Dees. Sure Eddie might huff and puff, just nowhere near as much than if there was a sense of unfinished business, should they not take out the premiership.
  17. Who on earth knows what's going on behind closed doors. I wouldn't be too upset if we got Matthews as our 'director of coaching' with one of Burns/Neeld/Sanderson/etc to fulfil the senior assistant role for a few years then they step into the senior gig. Who knows, we might even wander into a situation similar to Collingwoods' predicament right now. If that were to be the case, i bloody wouldn't be complaining! Failing that, maybe look at Craig as the director and get one of the senior assistants to drive the bus.
  18. Kaspersky will stay on as a sponsor, just not as joint major sponsor. Which still leaves the front of our jumper up for grabs. Why not just go back to BoM and see if they're still interested? Given what we have gone through recently, it would generate a lot of good press for us if we were able to announce our new coach, sponsor and possible mini-draft player al within a couple of weeks. It would give us some real momentum going into the pre-season and the season proper.
  19. Mick Malthouse definitely has a few screws loose upstairs if you ask me. You can't really take anything he says too seriously, or you too will end up in the loony bin. Just look >
  20. Yeah, for all the bravado and info. we were told last night re:Ross staying at the Saints, there has not even been anything remotely close to such a situation in the media today. If it were the case, there would have at least been something. There is still more water to pass under the bridge me thinks!
  21. Ha, there is no way we could land 2 picks in the mini draft is there? You would just about have to sell your soul to achieve this. If it were possible, ie couple a compensation pick + experienced out of favour player such as a Warnock/Bate/etc, and then downgrade some later round picks to GWS, then i'd be all for it. Imagine getting O'Meara, Crouch and Viney coming in all in the same year. Simply wouldn't be possible. If we were able to achieve this, then i would definitely be going for Todd Elton in this years draft (that's if our pick hasn't been involved in some sought of trade to get another pick in the mini draft). One can dream!
  22. Agree with you here John. Elton would be a great get for us at pick 12. He will take some time to bulk up, but not as long as Watts and Cook required, as his frame is physically more mature. Plus i love the way he uses it to get at the ball, it's about time we got some physical aggression from a KPF, back in our forward line.
  23. I reckon we should. Simply because this kid is going to be something very special. We cannot get scared off from the 'he who must not be named' incident. That is a 'once in an eternity' situation. One that will not be repeated in a long long time. These mini-draft picks are the equivalent of #1 picks for next year (- Lachie Whitfield). O'Meara is everything Scully was at the same age, only with better explosive pace and vastly superior disposal. Whether or not we can land him is one thing, but we need to develop our own stars. This kid is similar to 'you know who' in that the chance of him turning into a star is more likely than not. Our most important players have been tucked away, i'd be very willing to offer both compo picks for O'Meara, simply because, even though the 2012 draft is meant to be unbelievable, every Tom, Dick and Harry will be looking to take advantage of the first undiluted draft and use their compo picks here, further pushing some of ours down the pecking order. And let's not forget, just because we have signed up the likes of Morton, doesn't mean we can't trade them, we just need their consent, but are protecting ourselves from walkouts. The only problem with drafting O'Meara is, with all excitement that would come with it, we'd still have to wait 12 months, who's not to say that a Sam Blease incident won't take place??? But i'm willing to take the risk!
  24. The plight we are in and Bailey continues to refuse to dig the boots in. He is all class, pure and simple.
  25. Totally agree. Our best bet is by stroking his ego. Maybe throw in that we haven't won a flag in nearly 50 years, the person who brings the next one will be instantly immortalised, etc could surely do no harm in alluring him over.
