  1. Go after a hesitant Ling. That way he'd need a few years under Roos before being ready to step up. So Roos has another 5 in charge, then over to Lingy!
  2. turned 33 before the season started, so will be 34 before the start of next year, so too old for mine. Though i'd have him instead of Byrnes.
  3. Had a great game, but i thought Jones was our best by a fair margin last night. He is seriously underrated in the AFL. If he was at a club with recent success, he would be seen as a definite star.
  4. Agreed, played a very good game. Showed fantastic touch, as shown by his disposal efficiency and great awareness too. He was one of the few, if not the only one i felt comfortable with, when the ball was in his hands. A good start, and something to build on. Onwards and upwards Jack.
  5. Whilst i don't really rate Bail, i thought he was far from our worst tonight.
  6. Obviously i'd rather him stay than go, but if Frawley thinks he is god's gift to our back-line, he has another thing coming.
  7. Inside hardness is not what we lacked today, but polished foot disposal. Even though we lost the clearances, our biggest problem was overuse of the handball and not long and direct football. We were so handball happy, we could have done with a kick first, kick second mindset player in the team tonight. A ready Salem would have helped a fair bit tonight with his good kicking skills. Go return into the ground and have a rest Norm,
  8. Spencer, whilst maybe wining the hit outs, was behind in hit outs to advantage, other than the ruck, he is useless anywhere else. For a bloke who has a big body, he hardly uses it. I know McDonald got injured, but prior to that, his decision making and disposal were again abhorrent. I don't give a stuff if he can run, if you can't kick and don't know what top do with it, you shouldn't be playing AFL. Howe was woeful, didn't know what the footy looked like tonight. He is not a midfielder and he is not a KPF. His only role is as a third tall. However, as much as we stuffed around with the ball with the handball, if we decided to kick the bloody thing a bit more and were more direct, we would've looked much better.
  9. Even if he was to leave, why do people think we'd be in with a chance to get his signature? It would be time and effort wasted, imo. He'd want to go to a club on the cusp of success, and whilst i don't doubt Roosy's skill and even his allure, not even he would be able to pull something like this off.
  10. That's a good thing. It means that you have hope. I'd rather have hope and be a nervous wreck, than have zero hope knowing we're going to lose before the ball is bounced.
  11. Remember we were a 2-20 team last year, and in one of those games we had to play one of our best ever quarters to beat a supposed "easy-beat". Every game this year that may be winnable for us, will always be a flip of the coin chance. The damage done during the MN era is unfathomable.
  12. Totally agree with you, the sponsor page hasn't listed China Southern yet either. In the 2014 season guide handbook, it lists all the players' photos with updated guernsey, ht & wt. Wouldn't have thought it all that hard to update the website. I say it time & time again, but melbournefc.com.au is rather poorly run.
  13. I agree with her. Don't worry about the succession plan, sign Roosy up for the next 5!!!
  14. Maybe a too simplistic view, but if his foot has truly healed, why doesn't he return to his original running gait? Hopefully he is able to re-dedicate himself after his lay-off (not that he wasn't dedicated prior) and he gets a good run at being injury-free. Hell, i don't care if he has the rest of the year off, if it meant he was cherry-ripe for the start of next year (and played the rest of his career in good shape). On a different and maybe harsher view. If he does announce his retirement, well we haven't had him on the park for a while, so it's not as if we don't know what to do without him, and no doubt it would free up some significant cash to go after another forward, like Bernie's best mate Taylor Walker (maybe he knew something we didn't when he casually joked about him and Dawesy dominating the forward 50), or we could just throw it into the Jesse Hogan fund to keep him at the Dees.
  15. Troy Broadbridge, Jimmy, Sean Wight and now Bails. Tragic. Thoughts go out to his family.
  16. I'll only star worrying about such a factor once we get within a couple of games outside the 8 by seasons end, on a consistent basis. Before then however, it has little impact on our ladder position, yet a big impact on our bottom line.
  17. Hopefully this thumping makes Roos realise how far off it we really are, and that 3 years simply won't be enough! Put a 5-year contract in front of him, after today's performance, he'd sign it.
  18. I don't care about the start of the season, we just need these boys right come September
  19. If you're coming from Melton, it's a bloody long drive. For a practice match anyways.
  20. I'm excited heading in to round 1 for sure. Half decent coach, new players, and older players have taken very well to Roos (Neeld rarely ever had the players' imo). But let's not forget the past 2 years for round 1, we thought we should win. Got done both times by big margins. So i will reserve celebrating a win, when the final siren goes. But not before then.
  21. Is it too early to start demanding Barrett issue a public apology? Muppet.
  22. Was he the one that kicked that bullet from the right HBF and hit Jonesy lace out at right HFF resulting in a super goal? Haven't seen a kick like that come out of our back-line for quite some time! Kicked with real penetration and accurate to boot, something our back-line seriously lacks.
  23. We seemed to play with the rotation rule in mind, with 116, as opposed to the Cats 152. Most of the stats were similar, except for our almost 100 more disposals and their double inside 50's (31-62) and marks inside 50 (8-17)
  24. For those who suffer from MFCSS, surely this means the final nail in the coffin on Frawley's future with the Dees.
