  1. It's kind of funny how to start with there was this top secret meeting called The Vault that was the result of months of planning, where Connolly told everyone they faced the sack if they didn't throw matches, and as the actual facts come to light, it was a regulation footy meeting in a building nicknamed The Vault, where Connolly made a wise crack in a 30 second aside. I wish I got paid to make up crap and have it published like Wilson and co.
  2. I just find it funny that anyone can find it questionable when the team on the bottom of the ladder gets rolled by the team on the top of the ladder. These people did actually watch us play in 2009 didn't they?
  3. I can't remember. Good one. Why spend money on lawyers when we can just purge our memories of the event? I can't see anything that could go wrong with this defence.
  4. If I can figure out how to close topics using the mobile skin I will close it. I agree that we don't need a new thread on every detail of the one topic.
  5. But Burnouts McLean is?
  6. The ink hasn't even dried on Gram's termination letter yet. Anyone who thinks there is any possibility whatsoever of him playing in the AFL next year, has no idea how dim a view AFL clubs take on players who have been sacked for behavioural problems. Especially when they're in their late 20s and not in the top class of player. His career is over.
  7. Joel Macdonald competes, and he does as he's told. In the long term that's setting the bar low, but at the moment that's where the bar is and like him or not, he cleared it when heaps of other (more talented) players didn't. I'm not a huge fan due to ordinary disposal and his proneness to brain fades (we can only carry one of those players and Garland is far superior), but I'm not surprised he's been offered another year. Given that we look to be retaining Troy Davis, he's the player that should be looking to push Macdonald (and/or Dunn) out of the side in 2013.
  8. Pacy and hard working (outside) mid. Questionable disposal and, clearly, robustness of body are the concerns.
  9. If the reports are correct that he's only received a 1 year contract, then it's unlikely it's going to be that costly.
  10. We are due for Caro's next installment where it will say that all the members were all in "the Vault" when the meeting took place.
  11. How much talking needs to done for these two? "Hi Joel, Lynden, here is a one year contract on modest pay. Congratulations, you've bought yourself one more year before you need to find a real job. Sign?" "Sign."
  12. I'm impressed with this club's ability to lurch from one crisis to the next without missing a beat. I'm finding this very, very tiring.
  13. One of those players that was for some reason in demand a few years ago and has resoundingly proven to be useless since. Pass
  14. Given the rumours of GWS planning to take the three gun mids with their picks, I would do backflips if they then decided to draft Tippett with one of them. What an absolute stroke of luck for us if that happens.
  15. That's hilarious, because it wasn't one of our players.
  16. And strangely enough, he finds himself not on AFL list. It's a real skill to somehow accidentally argue against your own point. I remember reading a detailed article by Wisbey comparing the two best ruckmen of the u18 competition at the time: Cameron Wood and John Meesen. Wow.
  17. Half a game of golf if I'm involved.
  18. Buckley was a spud when he was with us, I was staggered when Collingwood took him. Picking him up again would be a ridiculous decision. If we're looking at ex-MFC players who have pace and absolutely nothing else, why stop with Buckley? Might as well bring back Jace Bode and Luke Williams while we're there.
  19. I agree, it would have been line ball with Jetta and Davis. Petterd and Bate were absolute no brainers, I feel a bit embarrassed for those who can't see this. With our numbers the way they are now I don't think we'll see any further delistings.
  20. I'm unsure about what we accomplished with the Martin trade, but other than that I couldn't be happier. The Morton trade was a token trade to get the guy off the list. The coach is clearly not a fan so fair enough. All in all we shed players who can't or won't play the coach's game and replaced them with players who meet a need. I'm happy.
  21. Can't fill every gap in one off season, but we sure seem to be giving it a crack. I'm another that is a fan of this trade.
  22. For the sake of peer review, can you go through your sums with me? I have Green, Moloney, Jurrah and Rivers out, with Byrnes, Dawes, Viney and Barry in. That adds up to zero vacancies by my maths. What have I missed?
  23. If nothing else, well done and thanks for keeping up with where the list is at. I'm assuming you are counting Viney as already being on the list. I think if the more reasonable trades happen, we're likely to see Pedersen and Ray in for the loss of Martin, so post trades we'll have zero free spots. I think the most likely scenario from here is Pick 4, Nicho, Evans, Free Agent, PSD #3; 5 more players to delist. On that, I have Macdonald, Jetta, Bartram, Dunn and Bail hanging on by the skin of their teeth.
  24. Yes, the argument that we suck because we don't have enough neanderthal meatheads at the club certainly is an interesting take on things.
  25. We don't need to draft anyone in the PSD as we can sign delisted players as free agents. The PSD doesn't serve a purpose anymore as far as I can tell.
