  1. I was disappointed to see Woey, Powell, Thompson and Farmer go. Not sure if it's battle weariness or what but I find that I couldn't care less about the latest lot to leave. The level of success seen with the player is proportional to my fondness for them I guess.
  2. A good conspiracy theory, but I reckon the salary thing is more likely. Pearce and Chaplin would have been moving on reasonable money while Rivers and Moloney would just take whatever they could get, hence the imbalance in compensation.
  3. Ah yes, I still had the idea that they added together, but the Port compo shows otherwise. Brain fail.
  4. Wow. That amounts to almost nothing. We should have just waited until Byrnes was delisted like everyone else did and it would have made a bit of a difference. Spewing.
  5. Surely you've been around long enough to realise what you are dealing with here...
  6. Nice work, you managed the "Dunn is tough and competitive" clanger AND a Morton backhander in a thread that has nothing to do with him whatsoever, all in the one post.
  7. It's surprising, but we see only a fraction of their interaction with the club. Obviously the club sees or knows something not visible from the outer.
  8. is that right? I thought for non-interstate rookies it was only 1 year with the second year optional.
  9. Most of the names in this thread are too old for me. It's not often at nearly-30 that I feel like a baby, but Demonland makes a habit of doing it to me.
  10. One club will win and still be outside the top 8!
  11. We live in the future! It's 2012, surely there's some nerd out there with a laptop, wireless broadband dongle and camera to put out a live stream?!
  12. I guess it's clear Jared won't stay. In the mean time the content of this thread has converged with this one -> http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/31667-jared-rivers-fa-latest-gone-to-the-cats/ so I see no reason for this one to continue.
  13. What condition is his body in? Sorry, shouldn't be so obtuse - just saying there could be reasons for the shortened contract other than just being disrespectful. You'd have heard the same rumours as me about both the club and Jared being concerned about his longevity. Not saying it's necessarily the case, just that we shouldn't just automatically assume we're treating a player like garbage.
  14. That is bloody hilarious cooko. A bit rough but very funny. As for Rivers, I feel neither here nor there. From a personal point of view I'm mildly disappointed, but it's almost wholly offset by the knowledge that from a footy point of view we're probably going to be net-better off. Another everyone wins moment IMO,
  15. Nudge's OP in his first thread ranks as the most "liked" post since we brought the like system in and the OP in this thread ranks 9th. Honestly, if he can't take a pot shot or two in amongst what is highest rated content in the entire site, he must have the world's thinnest skin.
  16. Cool, more rule changes! It's like I get to watch a new sport each and every year.
  17. Given the only player of the three that I've seen play is Sylvia and he's flaky, inconsistent and arguably lazy, I don't see what I could possibly learn from "no". I also didn't see a viable alternate suggestion.
  18. Nobody says that, it was just an assumption - I don't see how you can discuss this without making some kind of assumption. If GWS intend on taking Wines instead of Grundy then they probably wouldn't be interested in the deal I proposed as they'd end up with one fewer gun midfielders than they intended to take. That's a lot different a proposition to choosing between Toumpas and Wines which I had them as doing anyway.
  19. Thanks for the thoughtful contribution.
  20. I reckon it's as maurie said, many trades are frozen until clubs know what's in their hand with regards to compensation picks, and the Dawes trade is surely one of them.
  21. Pick 4 + Sylvia? I know that probably is too much - or too little depending on your view - but I can't think of anything that isn't way over or way under. Is Toumpas good enough to pay Wines and Sylvia?
  22. If we go on the fair assumption (based on the Walsh quote) that we've already offered 20, there is no way on Earth we will downgrade the offer to a 27 to 30 compo pick. Comes back to my point about wasting everyone's time.
  23. "Hardball" is code for let's dick each other around for two weeks, waste everyone's time and finally arrive at the deal 5 minutes before the deadline and probably miss it because we cut it so fine that we missed the cutoff for the paperwork. It's the Essendon approach and it's why everyone avoids dealing with them. I'm strongly against this approach. Make a sensible offer first up and just get it done ASAP. If Collingwood want to piss about the edges with it and make silly demands like Ricky bloody Petterd then fine, whatever. Humour them in the interests of getting it done quickly so we can focus on our next move.
  24. Indeed. A "very reliable source" that is completely unverifiable is a long way from a confirmation.
