He might've been 50-50, in which case, wouldn't you want to at least dip your toes in before deciding one way or the other? No problems with this; I'm glad he bailed early so we didn't waste too much in time and resources for a player who wasn't interested.

It would be great if these threads had a training report or two chucked in with three pages of waffle. (Yes, I appreciate the irony of this post)

I expect it to remain the same.

I don't think being the club everyone wants to have a whack at is particularly good for the brand, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Training - Wednesday 7th November, 2012
Nasher replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes, though my knowledge of this kind of thing is at layman's level at absolute best, I took Blease being paired with Bail and remaining competitive as a very encouraging thing. Bail is one of the club's best runners in both speed and endurance; but Blease should have him covered for burst speed. Blease's goal I guess should be to build his endurance up to a point where his burst advantage will allow him to beat Bail in these events. Makes sense to me anyway. -
Given the sorts of players we've picked up so far I'd be amazed if we wasted a spot on the list on a bad egg like Sherman or Reimers. We've shown so far that we're far more interested in moderately talented players made of the right stuff than highly talented flogs who just coast. A spot on the list is nothing to be sneezed at, and while there has been the occasional exception, a lazy player is usually lazy forever.

I love the logic in the idea of using our golden pick 4 on a player ranked in the teens just so someone else doesn't take him.

Dean Bailey tells the AFL he didn't order players to lose
Nasher replied to Alf Stewart's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's kind of funny how to start with there was this top secret meeting called The Vault that was the result of months of planning, where Connolly told everyone they faced the sack if they didn't throw matches, and as the actual facts come to light, it was a regulation footy meeting in a building nicknamed The Vault, where Connolly made a wise crack in a 30 second aside. I wish I got paid to make up crap and have it published like Wilson and co. -
I just find it funny that anyone can find it questionable when the team on the bottom of the ladder gets rolled by the team on the top of the ladder. These people did actually watch us play in 2009 didn't they?

I can't remember. Good one. Why spend money on lawyers when we can just purge our memories of the event? I can't see anything that could go wrong with this defence.

If I can figure out how to close topics using the mobile skin I will close it. I agree that we don't need a new thread on every detail of the one topic.

But Burnouts McLean is?

Which delisted player would you pick up before ND/PSD
Nasher replied to GawnWithTheWind's topic in Melbourne Demons
The ink hasn't even dried on Gram's termination letter yet. Anyone who thinks there is any possibility whatsoever of him playing in the AFL next year, has no idea how dim a view AFL clubs take on players who have been sacked for behavioural problems. Especially when they're in their late 20s and not in the top class of player. His career is over. -
Contract talks for Lynden Dunn and Joel Macdonald progressing well
Nasher replied to Demon Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Joel Macdonald competes, and he does as he's told. In the long term that's setting the bar low, but at the moment that's where the bar is and like him or not, he cleared it when heaps of other (more talented) players didn't. I'm not a huge fan due to ordinary disposal and his proneness to brain fades (we can only carry one of those players and Garland is far superior), but I'm not surprised he's been offered another year. Given that we look to be retaining Troy Davis, he's the player that should be looking to push Macdonald (and/or Dunn) out of the side in 2013. -
Dees elevate Michael Evans and Dan Nicholson to primary list

Pacy and hard working (outside) mid. Questionable disposal and, clearly, robustness of body are the concerns. -

If the reports are correct that he's only received a 1 year contract, then it's unlikely it's going to be that costly. -
Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism
Nasher replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
We are due for Caro's next installment where it will say that all the members were all in "the Vault" when the meeting took place. -
Contract talks for Lynden Dunn and Joel Macdonald progressing well
Nasher replied to Demon Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
How much talking needs to done for these two? "Hi Joel, Lynden, here is a one year contract on modest pay. Congratulations, you've bought yourself one more year before you need to find a real job. Sign?" "Sign." -
Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism
Nasher replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm impressed with this club's ability to lurch from one crisis to the next without missing a beat. I'm finding this very, very tiring. -
One of those players that was for some reason in demand a few years ago and has resoundingly proven to be useless since. Pass

Given the rumours of GWS planning to take the three gun mids with their picks, I would do backflips if they then decided to draft Tippett with one of them. What an absolute stroke of luck for us if that happens.
-
That's hilarious, because it wasn't one of our players.
-
And strangely enough, he finds himself not on AFL list. It's a real skill to somehow accidentally argue against your own point. I remember reading a detailed article by Wisbey comparing the two best ruckmen of the u18 competition at the time: Cameron Wood and John Meesen. Wow.

Half a game of golf if I'm involved.
