  1. Looks like the Brisbane Lions have had their brand new $80 million dollar training facility for both their AFL and AFLW teams completed. Here is the link to the article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/858701 Let's hope the MFC board and home base committee takes note of this. Fingers crossed we hear some good news regarding an update for our own home base soon. 🤞
  2. I definitely agree that any recently retired AFL player who has a passion for coaching should at least be considered. In my view I would be giving Brett Ratten a call and seeing if he is interested in possibly taking on an assistant coaching role at the Demons (again). Especially, if we end up losing Adem Yze to the Saints.
  3. Looking forward to seeing Brodie Grundy run out for the mighty Demons!🔴🔵👹 Let's hope he can help us win against the Magpies! That would be even sweeter!
  4. I have to admit that Isaac Keeler would definitely be an ideal replacement for Luke Jackson. He is a tall forward-ruck currently standing at 198cms and is from North Adelaide in the SANFL. More information can be found out regarding Isaac via this link: https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/isaac-keeler/ Obviously, he is from South Australia so there is the risk of the go home factor. But he certainly has a lot of talent. Isaac would have to be up there as one of the tallest Aboriginal players that I can ever recall. However, there may be even taller ones that I have no knowledge of. Here is his highlights video: In my view, Isaac Keeler is well worth considering with pick 13# (to become pick 14#) in the 2022 AFL National Draft.
  5. I am definitely curious as to whether or not our more experienced Demonland members who have a keen eye for young talented footballers might know who will be around the pick 37# mark in this year's National AFL Draft? Overall, I am just going on what I read online and what has been shown in "power rankings" and Phantom Drafts. I find that Cal Twomey on the AFL website usually gets it about 90% correct with predicted selections though.
  6. I think a grade of an A- is about right for the Demon's trade period. I admit to carrying on like a pork chop regarding the Luke Jackson trade. Like the rest of us I wanted a top 7 pick. But in the end, we did alright out of it with the Dockers, given the circumstances, and far better than the Bulldogs did losing Josh Dunkley to the Lions. As others have mentioned, you just gotta wait until the trade period is over to make a proper rational assessment. We are in good hands with Tim Lamb and the rest of the MFC list management team.
  7. Fingers crossed we get a "slider" at pick 37# in the Draft. In Jason Taylor we trust! 😎👍
  8. I don't think there's any harm in the MFC coaching staff and Max Gawn meeting up with Sydney Stack for a coffee and at least seeing if it is worth giving him a final chance or not?
  9. I got the impression from MFC list manager Tim Lamb, in the interview he did, that we are likely to hold onto our picks. Especially, as the 2023 AFL Draft is supposed to have a deeper amount of talent. Having said that, you never know what may possibly happen? 🤷🏼‍♂️
  10. There will definitely be a few possible coaches available! Joel Selwood? Mark McVeigh? Brett Ratten? Nathan Jones? James Hird? A lot will also depend upon who ends up getting the recently vacated St. Kilda coach position? 🤔
  11. It will definitely be interesting who replaces Mark Corrigan as coach of the Casey Demons in the VFL. Would Mark "Choco" Williams want to do this? Maybe we could poach Joel Selwood from Geelong for a few seasons? I am sure there will be a few worthy candidates who would love to coach the Casey Demons in the VFL.
  12. It will certainly be interesting who the Demons pick. I have faith in Jason Taylor though. He has picked some gems for the Demons over the years. The MFC recruiting staff usually do one or two "mock drafts" prior to the proper AFL National Draft at the end of November and they are usually 80-90% correct in who they think other AFL clubs will choose. The eternal question is...at draft pick 13# do you go best talent available or needs base, such as a tall forward? 🤔
  13. If we possibly rookie Sydney Stack it would be as a small forward in my view.
  14. Here's the top 30 player power rankings according to 'The Inner Sanctum' for the 2022 AFL National Draft. AFL Draft 2022: Top 30 Power Rankings – October
  15. Here's a phantom draft (the first 20 picks) on Zero Hangar 2022 AFL mock Draft: Picks 1-20 (first edition) They predict us taking Mattaes Phillipou as well.
  16. I'm sticking with the 3 options of either Matthew Jefferson, Henry Hustwaite or Mattaes Phillipou as my predictions for pick 13# in the 2022 AFL National Draft for the Demons. We desperately need more tall players after losing Mitch Brown and Majak Daw.
  17. Sydney Stack certainly has a lot of talent. As can be seen from this highlights video: I would be open to putting him on the rookie list perhaps? 🤔
  18. Credit where credit is due, this highlights video of Sydney Stack is quite impressive. You cannot deny that he has a lot of talent and can play both in defence and in the forward line.
  19. Sydney Stack certainly has talent. But I know he has had previous behavioural issues. I can't forget that HUGE bump he laid on Jack Viney a few years ago though! Personally, I think West Coast will pick him up as a replacement for Willie Rioli Junior. But that's just my opinion. Riley Collier-Dawkins is the interesting one. Especially as he was taken in the first round of the 2018 AFL National Draft. Is he still worth giving a 2nd chance to? Here is a bit of a "video game theme" highlights video from Riley's draft year: He might be worth giving a rookie draft pick selection for? However, I guess that's up to Jason Taylor and the MFC recruitment team to decide?
  20. Apparently Henry Hustwaite from the Dandenong Stingrays is highly regarded? Could he be a Marcus Bontempelli "type" player? At least this English fella thinks so? 🤔 Here is the video link about him:
  21. ****FURTHER UPDATE**** #33 - Oskar Baker has been delisted. Sadly, I predicted this to happen. "Sauce" definitely had pace, I remember when he kicked 3 goals against GWS in 2020, but I felt his kicking just wasn't up to AFL standard. I wish him all the best for the future. From now on we MUST prioritise drafting players who are elite kicks to the Melbourne Demons! I am sure Mark "Choco" Williams constantly talks to the players on our list about improving their kicking skills. Good kicking is good football! _________________________________ Anyway, the updated list of jumper numbers available is as follows. #2 #6 #12 #19 #26 #28 #29 #33 #38 #39 #43 #46 #47 #48 #49 Obviously, not all these jumper numbers will be filled as it depends upon available list spots. From my understanding there will be about 6 or maybe 7 list spots available? I am sure somebody knows the exact number here? Lastly, I highly doubt any player would request a jumper number beyond Ben Brown's number #50, but you never know!
  22. Cheers for your post! Plenty of food for thought there. 🤔 Apparently Anthony Munkara is about 190cms now? I certainly like the idea of snaffling him from Essendon as he is their NGA prospect. Particularly after losing Mac Andrew to the Gold Coast last year. 😒 Either way, I have faith in MFC National Recruiting Manager Jason Taylor being able to choose some good young players for us in the 2022 AFL National Draft.
  23. ****UPDATE**** #26 - Sam Weideman has now been traded to Essendon. ----------------------- I really like some of the suggestions for jumper number changes. I also understand the argument of making a number "your own" too. Ben Brown has certainly made number #50 his own and I like that. Each to their own I guess? 🤷🏼‍♂️ I am not against the idea of giving Joel Smith his Father's (Shaun Smith) number #29 jumper if he wants it? I feel number #44 hasn't brought Joel much luck, due to injuries, and a change of number might do him good? But only if he wishes to do so and it doesn't put too much pressure on him? I do think jumper number #2 should be reserved for an extra special player though. It has a lot of history attached to that sacred number with Robbie Flower, Stephen Tingay and Nathan Jones having worn it. Nevertheless, it's always fun to speculate and see who gets their suggestions correct. 😉
  24. Thank you for this excellent analysis! 🙂👍 This really helps to paint an overall "big picture" of the Melbourne Demons' AFL list and where we sit regarding list management and draft picks. I am going to take back my grumbling about MFC List Manager Tim Lamb (I listened to his interview with SEN Radio) regarding the Luke Jackson trade. In the end, we got the best deal that we could of due to the circumstances. Overall, we should be in a strong position for this year's draft as well as next year's draft too. Fingers crossed we can obtain some good young recruits with draft picks 13# and 37#. 🤞 My only question is......will draft pick 37# end up being a pick in the late 20's or early 30's due to Brisbane banking up on draft picks so that they have enough points to obtain Father-Son pick Will Ashcroft with the number 1# pick in this year's AFL National Draft? 🤔
  25. Lachie Hunter had a few good highlights from his 2021 season with the Bulldogs as well. He is definitely a goal kicking wingman who is pretty good kick inside the forward 50. We can easily play him on the opposite wing to Ed Langdon or even on a half forward flank.
