Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
I am still angry about this [censored] stupid decision appointing some 2nd rate dud who only ended up coach of the Demons because nobody else seemed interested enough! How [censored] embarrassing! Adam Simpson, John Longmire, and Hayden Skipworth not interested at all! Nathan Buckley only having lukewarm interest. Why?! Are we that much of a basket case?! This is like Dean Bailey in 2007 or Mark Neeld in 2011 all over again! By all means, continue to laugh it up at me. I don't give a flying [censored]. I am entitled to my opinion and I am allowed to disagree with others. We will see who is right in the long run! If I am wrong, I will happily eat my own words with chocolate sauce on them! But my gut tells me this has been a huge mistake! Hopefully, at the very least, we appoint a senior assistant like Ken Hinkley or someone else to help support Steven King. Otherwise, he will be absolutely thrown in the deep end. What a total laughing stock our Club is. I have been a Melbourne Demons member for over 26+ years and besides our Premiership in 2021, it's been nothing but disappointment and frustration! Anyway, I am done. I am still far too angry at this stupid decision by the Melbourne Football Club. I am going to have a break for a long while until we get the [censored] homebase finally built at Caulfield Racecourse! If we can't do that the Club may as well [censored] fold!

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Steven King?! The bloke who kicked Jeff White in the face in 2005 and broke his jaw! What an absolute bloody joke! I thought we were going to get Nathan Buckley???!!!! I am very angry with this decision!!! Especially because we were supposed to be focused on getting an experienced coach! Our Club really is a laughing stock! I hope I am proven wrong....but I am actually quite furious with this utterly ridiculous decision!

PODCAST: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
We definitely need to look at fixing our issues with mental toughness. We are still "soft as butter" when it comes to our psychological fortitude, at least in my opinion. We basically [censored] the bed when the pressure is on in close games and it is unacceptable. How do we address this? As Max Gawn said post game, we need to learn how to win! The other issue is more related to football skills. We need to improve our kicking skills still. I think Hawthorn is a good blueprint to follow regarding skills. This is a huge problem we continue to have with our forward line connection. We need MORE players at the Melbourne Football Clubs who are excellent kicks and excellent decision makers. Our last kick into the forward line continues to let us down and has repeatedly over recent seasons. This has caused a huge amount of frustration amongst us all as Demons members and supporters! We fix our forward line connection and we will kick alot more goals and win alot my games in AFL seasons to come! I still think the new Demons coaching role is Nathan Buckley's to lose, however, we shall wait and see? Nathan Buckley, to me, epitomises the mentality of someone with a huge determination to win. He was a champion player, as we all know, but it's his burning desire to win a Premiership that appeals to me the most. He never achieved this as a player in 2002 and 2003. He also missed out as a senior coach in 2018. I think deep down in his guts he still craves a Flag. I also liked the surprising admission that he barracked for Melbourne as a kid growing up. Lastly, I think we need more good quality football people at the Club to continue to improve our Culture into the future. I am hopeful that the new Demons CEO Paul Guerra shall lead this as I have been impressed by him so far, but it is still only early days.

The Next CEO
I wish Paul Guerra all the best as the new Demons CEO. Has he started early? It's still only August. Nevertheless...he has ALOT to do. But as we all keep saying the number 1# priority is getting our Home Base built at the Caulfield Racecourse!
- Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford

Losing it ourselves
Selwyn Griffith has to go, we can't run out 4 quarters. However, it's the mental weakness when the pressure is on with a massive crowd that is the most disappointing. Definitely need some new sports psychologists at the Melbourne Football Club too!

Who’s Playing Their Last Game In The Red & Blue tonight?
I guess it all depends upon the new Demons coach? There will certainly be changes. This man might know....

My 3 word player analysis V Collingwood
3 word summary of entire team - FORWARD LINE CONNECTION!! There was at least 3 or 4 kicks into the forward line that, if they had hit their target, and that player kicked a goal, the Demons could of won!

Choco Williams axed
Mark "Choco" Williams has been fantastic for the Melbourne Demons. If we can keep him in some possible capacity, as mentioned by new CEO Paul Guerra, then that's fantastic. If not, I want to say a massive THANK YOU to Mark "Choco" Williams and wish him all the very best!

POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
A bitterly disappointing end to a bitterly disappointing season... Those 5 losses at the start of the season really put us behind the 8 ball. We definitely had our chances to win. But just seem to [censored] ourselves in the close ones. Absolutely no composure. Our deplorable kicking into the forward line showed how poor our skills and execution of those skills are. Forward line "connection" still remains our greatest failure. We still desperately need more excellent kicks and good decision makers! Hawthorn provide the blueprint there. Steven May and Christian Petracca looked cooked sadly. Both looked like shadows of their former selves. Shame Steven May didn't look at trying to line up Brayden "The Thug" Maynard. Would of been good to get some revenge, but sadly it wasn't to be. We are still as soft as butter when it comes to trying to get pay back. Max Gawn tried his guts out. I think it's an 8th All Australian blazer and another Best & Fairest for our beloved Captain. We have certainly lowered our colours since 2021. To say we are weak mentally is an understatement. Nevertheless, still plenty of young talent there to work with, Langford, Culley, Bowen, Turner, Lindsay (when he returns from injury), as well as Rivers, Kozzie, Chandler etc. Unfortunately Harry Sharp just isn't up to standard I'm afraid. I definitely still think we need an experienced coach. Whether or not it is Nathan Buckley as the new Demons coach we shall wait and see I guess? The new Melbourne CEO Paul Guerra has a lot of work to do!

PODCAST: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
It's ok if you wanna cancel this week. I wouldn't blame you. But if you do want to go ahead a firey and angry rant is always appreciated. I find them therapeutic.

My 3 word player analysis V Hawthorn
Entire Melbourne team - Almost single-handedly beaten by Jack Gunston

PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Yes! Let's unleash AJ on that vile thug Maynard! Time for a long belated revenge! Carl Ditterich style! 🤣

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Geeeezzz....you'd wanna be paid at least $1.2 million a season to coach Melbourne! Oh wait.....
-
POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
Pretty sloppy and disappointing effort. The Hawks were too slick and Jack Gunston made us look like clowns. I don't think the future coach (Nathan Buckley?) would be very impressed with that performance. A few blokes might have already "checked out" when in reality they should be playing for their careers. Not enough pride wearing the Melbourne jumper it seems. Will be interesting to see who has a crack and who doesn't next week against the Magpies.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
I wish Simon Goodwin all the best with his new coaching role at GWS in 2026.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
No offence to Jobe Watson, but I would of preferred an AFL player with Premiership experience. Jimmy Bartel, Luke Hodge, Jordan Lewis etc.

A bit of history: The "Dynamic Melbourne Demons" 1858 onwards - BETA stage (1988) digitisation
I found this very interesting video on Youtube: I have never seen this old video before. It is quite fascinating. It is titled The "Dynamic Melbourne Demons" 1858 onwards - BETA tape (1988) digitisation. Basically 130 years of history of the Melbourne Football Club. Thanks to Rhettrospective for posting this on YouTube.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Nathan Buckley is already helping out Robbo with his coaching services....🤣
-
Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Both John Longmire and Adam Simpson pulling out of the opportunity to coach the Melbourne Football Club is disappointing but not surprising. They both were exhausted mentally and felt cooked. However, is coaching the Melbourne Football Club seen as a "poisoned chalice" perhaps? Simon Goodwin certainly wanted to keep coaching the Demons though! Our list isn't that bad is it? I think we have a good mix of senior players and up-and-coming younger players who would make coaching the Demons an exciting opportunity. Wouldn't becoming the "new voice" be an amazing challenge? It looks like it's Nathan Buckley's role to lose? I also think Nathan Buckley is pragmatic and knows it would be a tougher chance to get the coaching job at the Tasmania Devils. Why not coach the Melbourne Football Club, especially if you have a deep and burning desire to win a Premiership. We all know Nathan Buckley still has that intense desire to do it and win a Flag in his own right. My only concern is how will Nathan Buckley relate with the players? I think he has "mellowed" a bit but also hope he has a hard edge too. Nathan Buckley definitely gives the impression of authority and commands respect. Lastly, I would rather the coach be respected by the Demons players than liked too much as a "best mate". In the end it will be up to Nathan Buckley to find that balance between respect and likeability.

POSTGAME: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
Agreed. They both deserve one more season. Would also be nice for Tom McDonald to play 250+ games for the Demons.

Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
I definitely have a bit of a "man crush" on Jai Culley. 🤣 The young fella can play!
