Agreed. I am quite angry about this situation arising two years in a row. I want Clayton Oliver to stay a Demon for the entirety of his career. I don't know how Geelong can afford BOTH Bailey Smith and Clayton Oliver.

I have been a fan of Gary Pert as CEO for the Melbourne Football Club for a while. I thought he could help make us a big Club like we used to be way back in the 1950s and 1960s. Back where we belong. Making the Melbourne Demons the centre of the AFL Universe. However, the article in "The Age" is quite damning (if true). If Gary Pert has gone back to the bad habits he allegedly displayed while Collingwood CEO then that sets off alarm bells. A CEO of a football club should not be sticking their nose into player movement decisions. If Gary Pert has done this, then I think that it will be curtains for him. I hope this isn't the case as Gary Pert has been an excellent CEO in my opinion. His track record of achieving objectives has been very impressive. Anyway, at this stage it is all scuttlebutt and innuendo. The media seem to like sticking their boots into the Melbourne Football Club. Hopefully, the external Club review currently being conducted will uncover any significant issues. At the moment, everything else is just "fugazi" as they say.
  3. All good. I just want all this drama and animosity resolved at the Melbourne Football Club. It is incredibly frustrating. How things have unravelled so quickly since 2021 (a mere 3 years ago) really boggles my mind! We need to be a stable football club to give us the best opportunity to win more Premierships.
  4. If he enjoys a challenge he will! 🤣 I for one would think it would a fantastic coup if the Melbourne Football Club could obtain the services of Jimmy Bartel.
  5. You're quoting the wrong person there. I didn't say that.

I would rather we keep both Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca. Hope they can sort things out. Would love to see them both play over 350+ games for the Demons and win more Premierships for us. A Brownlow Medal or two would be fabulous too! Anyway, I guess we shall wait and see... I will most certainly be very angry and upset if we lose either of them!
  7. Not very democratic if this is true. Unfortunately Peter Lawrence doesn't seem to have enough rank-and-file member support regardless. However, as I previously mentioned in my other post, I hope that Brad Green and Peter Lawrence can sit down and have a meeting and sort out a lot of these problems. Disunity and ongoing drama doesn't help at all with the stability of the Melbourne Football Club.
  8. Happy for the Demons to recruit good quality football people. I definitely think Rory Sloane could bring a wealth of knowledge to help our players.

I am certainly not against this alternative option instead of pursuing Graham Wright. But what role would Jimmy Bartel have at the Demons? I remember hearing he stepped down as football director at the Giants? For what I can tell he mainly does media work now doesn't he?
  10. I received another email from Peter Lawrence and Deemocracy today. It relates to surveys done about the concerns that Melbourne members have with the Melbourne Football Club. This survey was then submitted to the Melbourne Football Club Board. It will be interesting how the interim President Brad Green responds to this survey. He did acknowledge receiving it at least. However, he has (understandly) been busy with other matters. Ideally, Brad Green arranges to meet with Peter Lawrence to reconcile these issues. Better meeting with him than Joe Gutnick in my opinion. I just would like to see an amicable outcome reached. I should note that I am neutral and not on the side of Peter Lawrence or the Melbourne Football Club Board. I am just telling people about the email.

Wade Derksen has apparently requested a trade to the Demons. Whether or not it happens....we shall wait and see?
  12. Just read email. Dr Angela Williams comes onto the Melbourne Football Club Board and Janette Kendall is leaving.
  13. I expect either Jack Viney or Max Gawn to win the Keith "Bluey" Truscott memorial trophy for Melbourne's Best & Fairest in 2024. Either of them are worthy winners. Best first year player should be Caleb "The Duke" Windsor. Most improved player is probably going to be Andy Moniz-Wakefield. However, I think Daniel "Disco" Turner and Taj Woewodin could possibly get honourable mentions too. I also expect there might be farewell speeches from Alex Neal-Bullen, Ben Brown and maybe Lachie Hunter too. Hopefully Angus Brayshaw attends and makes a speech too. But that's up to him. The elephant in the corner of the room will be Christian Petracca's non-attendance. But we already knew that beforehand. Will be interesting what interim President Brad Green, CEO Gary Pert and Coach Simon Goodwin also say at the Best & Fairest event.
  14. Would prefer a fully transparent external review. But we shall wait and see I guess? The 2024 Annual General Meeting for the Melbourne Football Club should be interesting. Gary Pert and Alan Richardson better be prepared for a lot of angry Melbourne members asking for full explanations as to why we have basically "sh*t the bed" since our AFL Premiership in 2021. I kind of feel sorry for Brad Green, filling in as the interim President, but he shouldn't be blamed for the current situation we find ourselves in. Hopefully, we find a suitable replacement as President of the Melbourne Football Club for the long term.
  15. Hopefully Jason Taylor can work his magic. Ideally, we should aim for 2 or even 3 picks in the top 20. But that's probably wishful thinking unless we can do some deals with Brisbane and/or Gold Coast to give them various picks for points.
  16. Saw the other day that Mark "Choco" Williams has a side hustle selling little models of the MCG. He was promoting them on Fox Footy a few nights ago. Here's the link for anyone interested: https://mcgshop.com.au/mymcg-replica-stadium/ A bit too expensive for me. But each to their own. Anyway, I digress, after watching the 2024 Grand Final on TV, I have gotta admit winning an AFL Premiership at the MCG on Grand Final Day is the ultimate triumph. The AFL did an impressive job getting Katy Perry to perform. Although, $5 million dollars for 20 minutes of work is a pretty sweet deal for her! Now, don't get me wrong, the Melbourne Demons winning in Perth at Optus Stadium in 2021 was wonderful. Especially as we ended our 57 year Premiership drought. But winning a Premiership at the home of football at the MCG must be the ultimate objective. I hope Simon Goodwin and many of the Melbourne Demons players got together to watch the Grand Final on TV and it motivates them to aim for Premiership glory next year in 2025. Winning at the MCG would be absolutely amazing for us as long-suffering Melbourne members and supporters. Particularly if it's a beautiful day on the last Saturday in September. The COVID-19 lockdowns back in 2021 prevented us from celebrating the way we deserved to do. I am sure many of us want to celebrate a Premiership win here in Melbourne at the MCG so we can paint the town red and blue. Go crazy and party all night, go to a few pubs, get drunk and pass out in Swan Street, Richmond or some other place in the City. Ideally, we will have our home base built at Caulfield Racecourse in a few years so we can celebrate at our Home Base too! Especially, as I don't think the Melbourne Demons have any specific supporter friendly pubs like the Brisbane/Fitzroy Lions do such as the Royal Derby Hotel on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Anyway, let's hope we don't have to wait another 57 years to celebrate our next Melbourne Demons Premiership and that it is at the MCG IN Melbourne!
  17. They're calling it the "Swanny-Wobbles" now apparently.
  18. Christian Petracca was probably a sneaky chance to win the Brownlow Medal if he hadn't got injured. However, Patrick Cripps getting 45 votes was absolutely ridiculous. At least Nick Daicos missed out with an equally amazing 38 votes. Would love to see Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver or Max Gawn win a Brownlow Medal. But more Premiership Medallions for the Demons are highly more desirable!
  19. Injuries, had not played at the MCG since April, arrogance, outcoached and lack of desire on the day. Swanny-wobbles are real!
  20. Not sure if it has already been posted, but here is the 2024 Under 18 All Australian Team. Hopefully the Demons can draft one or two (or even three) of these young guns.

Seeing as he has now helped the Brisbane Lions win a Premiership as as an assistant coach, we should now look to pursue Cameron Bruce to return to the Melbourne Football Club. Cameron Bruce has been at both the Hawks and Lions and been quite successful as an assistant coach. I think he has had almost 10 years of coaching experience now. Cameron Bruce was an excellent player for the Melbourne Demons. We could look to have him take over as our forward line or midfield coach with Nathan Bassett (who is possibly coming to the Melbourne Demons too). Anyway, the more help we can give to Simon Goodwin to strengthen our coaching panel the better!
  22. You're kidding aren't you? I still want Brayden Maynard's blood! As do many other Melbourne supporters. Let's hope we get revenge against Collingwood for the disgraceful injustice against Angus Brayshaw eventually....
  23. He was handy at times Lachie Hunter. Was a bit of a pointless trade in someway. We should of been looking for younger players. Sadly, Lachie's body wasn't up to it. I think he will go into coaching though. I wish him all the best and thank him for his contribution to the Melbourne Football Club.
