  1. I remember hearing the story about Mark "Jacko" Jackson back in the 1980s kicking 100 balls at goal every training session. Although he probably should of worked on his people skills as well as his goal kicking skills. Still he had an average of 4 goals a game. That's pretty good! Shame Mark "Jacko" Jackson was madder than a cut snake! 🤣 I think an extra hour at training to practice goal kicking is pretty reasonable for our players. Anyway, I have faith in Mark "Choco" Williams fixing our goal kicking woes eventually. Practice makes perfect in the end.
  2. I think the likelihood of getting Harley Reid is becoming more and more unlikely every time Fremantle have a win. I do think that West Coast would be better off trading the coveted number 1# draft pick to recruit more talent. Particularly after their humiliating performance against Sydney over the weekend. Losing by 171 points is horrific! Although I don't have much sympathy for Eagles supporters! Nevertheless, who ever Jason Taylor takes with the Demon's early draft picks they MUST be excellent kicks and decision makers. I do have faith in the Melbourne recruiting team though. For the time being, no point worrying about it until the end of the 2023 season.
  3. Was a disappointing effort in the last quarter against Geelong. Lots of fumbling of the ball. However, I do take into account the wet weather. The fanatical (feral) crowd down in Geelong was certainly a factor too. Although, Geelong kicked a few "easy" goals in the last quarter as well. Would of really liked a win down at the Cattery. But it just goes to show how difficult it is to beat the Cats down there on their own dung heap at Kardinia Park. Hopefully, we bounce back against GWS in Alice Springs this coming week as we desperately need a good win to keep in touch with the top 4 on the AFL ladder.
  4. Hoping that Blake Howes, Bailey Laurie and a few of the other draftees play well for the Casey Demons. The Casey Demons need to bounce back after a disappointing loss to the Collingwood Magpies reserves the other week.
  5. Fingers crossed the Demons win tonight! 🤞 Adam Tomlinson stiff to be dropped. It will be a very hostile crowd down at the Cattery. But let's hope we can get over the line by a few points. GO DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹
  6. Was at the game yesterday. Lots of issues need to be rectified. Firstly, we were really missing Clayton Oliver yesterday in the middle. We have definitely become increasingly dependent upon him, which is not a good balance for our midfield. Secondly, our disposal efficiency was terrible. Fumbles, miskicks, turnovers, dropped marks, plus missed tackles! Missing crucial goals didn't help either! Thirdly, our connection into the forward line was horrible as well. Everything just seemed a real struggle for us against Fremantle. They certainly have the wood over us and we were out coached too. It was a bitter pill to swallow. Anyway, a lot of work to do at training for the Demons this week!
  7. The booing was as poor as the game itself. Credit where credit is due.......Luke Jackson played well. I think the umpires actually deserved the booing. They were DISGRACEFUL today! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
  8. Was probably some of the worst umpiring I had seen in a VERY long time! What a shocker!!! As for the Demons.....we were disappointing, fumbly and timid. As Simon Goodwin said in his post match media conference....it was incredibly FRUSTRATING!!! The sooner Clayton Oliver is back the better!
  9. I can be envious of Collingwood for their training facilities. But not most of their horrible and obnoxious supporters! 🤮
  10. If West Coast "win" the wooden spoon this year they may indeed look to trade the number 1# AFL draft pick for a bunch of first round picks. Which Melbourne will have. It could be possible, epecially as the Eagles are well and truly in "rebuilding" mode after getting smashed by the Hawks over the weekend. Furthermore, Harley Reid could end up another "Chris Judd" leaving the Eagles for a Victorian Club eventually. I don't think the Eagles would want that again (unless they get another Flag from it like in 2006). Anyway, I would definitely love for the Demons to fluke a deal to get the number 1# AFL draft pick from the Eagles and snaffle up Harley Reid! Imagine him learning in an elite midfield with Petracca, Oliver and Viney! Sadly, I think it is a bit of a pipe dream. But never say never!
  11. Some interesting opinions by all. The voting shows a resounding NO to booing Luke Jackson too. Which I respect and acknowledge. My apologies for the somewhat mischievous post. But I was legitimate with my curiosity! I guess I will reserve my booing for Mason Cox (who I despise after he basically kicked/kneed poor Max Gawn in the guts last year) when we play Collingwood on King's Birthday for the Big Freeze 9 Fight MND match.
  12. I know people might think I am being provocative with this. But I am very curious to know? Will Melbourne supporters be booing Luke Jackson on Saturday at the MCG? Is it even appropriate to boo at all? We are supposed to be better than Collingwood and Essendon supporters and their vile antics. I have heard some say no that they won't do that. While I have also heard others say yes, that they will boo Luke Jackson. I myself am currently undecided if I will boo Luke Jackson. I am quite torn on the matter. On the one side, Luke Jackson is a Premiership hero who helped turn momentum in our favour to help the Melbourne Demons end their 57 year Premiership drought. Something that ALL Melbourne supporters would be grateful of. However, on the other side you could say he showed disloyalty by leaving the Melbourne Football Club because he wanted to go back Home to be closer to family in Perth. He also was not up front and honest with his decision about leaving the Melbourne Football Club until the end of the season. Forcing the Melbourne Demons to only deal with Fremantle as his preferred option. I have even heard from some one-eyed and fanatical Melbourne supporters go as far as to call Luke Jackson a "traitor" for leaving us and going to the Fremantle Dockers. I personally would not go that far! Luke Jackson contributed far more than Tom "money bags" Scully ever did who left the Demons for GWS around 10 years ago. I had no qualms with booing Tom Scully! Anyway, I am genuinely interested in hearing fellow Melbourne supporters thoughts and opinions about whether or not they will be booing Luke Jackson on Saturday at the MCG?
  13. Pretty unfortunate that Tom Sparrow gets a week. But oh well...🤷🏼‍♂️ Who replaces Tom Sparrow in the team? I reckon James Harmes or maybe Jake Melksham?
  14. Excellent stuff! 😎👍🏻 I think we should easily reach 65,000 members soon. Getting to 70,000 members might be a stretch though. But fingers crossed we make it! 🤞 GO DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹
  15. Here are my questions for the Demonland podcast this week. Firstly, what the hell happened against Essendon?! Was Simon Goodwin outcoached by Brad Scott? Secondly, is it just me, or is Adam Tomlinson a mere shadow of the player he was before his ACL injury? Should we continue to give him games or let Daniel "Disco" Turner have a chance? Thirdly, what is wrong with Ben Brown's back? Should we look to give Josh Schache an opportunity in the Demons forward line? Fourthly, with Charlie Spargo unfortunately getting concussed, should we give Bailey Laurie another go at AFL level in the senior side or leave Jake Melksham in the team to play that role? Fifthly, will Max Gawn be hopefully fit and ready to return this week against the Tigers? We desperately need him, but I don't wish to rush him back either. Finally, what do we need to do to beat Richmond on ANZAC Eve?
  16. I am bitterly disappointed about how poorly the Demons played against the Bombers. We really were off our game and there were many poor performances. The Demons played dumb football too with a lot of terrible decision making. Brad Scott outmanoeuvred and was tactically a bit too clever for Simon Goodwin in the coaches box. However, the poor endeavour of our players compared to Essendon's needs to be taken into account. Overall, a horrible day yesterday and the sooner we get Max Gawn back the better.
  17. It greatly annoys me how Hawthorn gets things so easily. They have gone from Glenferrie Oval to Waverley Park and now to this place in Dingley. Whereas, we are still struggling to sort out even ONE location! We will have to do our own fund raising too I reckon. Whether it is for Gosch's Paddock or Caulfield Racecourse remains to be seen. How much will it all cost to get our Home Base built is another question....$100 million? $200 million? Even $500 million? If I ever win the lottery I am happy to contribute a significant amount.
  18. My apologies, I meant Jake Stringer! In response to @binmanregarding Jake Melksham. I think he has been serviceable as the "super sub" (23rd man) for the Demons. Particularly in the games against the Bulldogs and the Swans where he kicked goals. I don't see a problem getting Jake Melksham to 100 games for the Melbourne Football Club. He must only be about 3 games off reaching that milestone? But let's face it, I will be surprised if he doesn't retire at the end of this season.
  19. Hello there, My questions are as follows. What do we need to do to beat Essendon? Who are the danger players at Essendon we need to be mindful of besides Luke Stringer? If Michael Hibberd is out due to achilles soreness who do we replace him with? When James Harmes returns from personal leave should he play in the Casey Demons team in the VFL first? Should we persist with Harry Petty in the forward line or bring back Ben Brown if he has recuperated from his back injury? Who should we use as the "super sub" (23rd man) against Essendon?
  20. Some great stories here about being a Melbourne supporter. It all connects into the rich history and culture of the Melbourne Football Club. My journey to become a Melbourne supporter is a little different to others. I remember in grade prep at Primary School getting the stimorol footy cards with the chewing gum. I liked the 1980s Melbourne Demons logo. I also liked drawing pictures of Monsters, Devils and Demons when I was at school. So much so that my primary school teacher in grade prep thought my parents might be devil worshippers! When I learnt there was a football team called the Demons I just had to barrack for them! It also helped that in 1987 the Demons made the finals for the first time in many many years. Oddly, one time, my Mum got me a St. Kilda jumper to wear from K-Mart even though I wanted a Melbourne jumper and I HATED that! I remember doing Vic-Kick (before Aus-Kick) with St. Kilda players and learning to handball and kick. They said I looked like Trevor Barker (because of ny blonde hair) and I was like "who the hell is he?". 😂😆😁🤣 My Dad was actually a Collingwood supporter but that was only because of work friends and he had a soft spot for the red and blue colours as he used to go to watch Port Melbourne play in the VFA. I was successfully able to convert my Dad to become a Melbourne supporter as well as the rest of my family. My Mum used to have a yellow and black pencil case at school and that is why she used to barrack for Richmond. But she wasn't really that interested in football. However my Grandad and my Uncles on my Mother's side where all Carlton supporters. Although I also had an Uncle and an Aunty as well as cousins who are all Hawthorn supporters. A few of my other cousins barracked for Carlton or Essendon. Converting my Dad, Mum, brothers and sister to become Melbourne Demons supporters was pretty impressive though! I grew up in the South-Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. In the areas of East Burwood, Forest Hill, Glen Waverley and Mount Waverley. My favourite Demons players growing up were Garry Lyon, Allen Jakovich, David Schwarz, David Neitz and Jeff Farmer. I was fortunate to have a few Melbourne supporters living in my street where I grew up. There was always a handful of Melbourne supporters at both my primary school and high schools that are went to in the late 1980s and all throughout the 1990s and 2000. However, being in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne the majority of people barracked for a broad variety of clubs. This included primarily Hawthorn and Essendon supporters as the most numerous. As well as a number of Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton, St. Kilda, Geelong and West Coast supporters. There were even a few Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne supporters, but not many. I was lucky that Melbourne had good seasons in 1994 and 1998. Although in 1997 when the Demons won the wooden spoon it was pretty miserable. Overall, though I have always been a pretty massive Melbourne Demons supporter since I was 6 years old. My Dad still calls me a fanatic! 🤣😂😆😁
  21. After an impressive win against the Sydney Swans on Sunday, I am hopeful of another big boost in Melbourne Demons membership numbers this week. Fingers crossed we make it to 60,000 members again very soon! 🤞
  22. Another excellent podcast! Well done Andy, Binman and George! We all love your work! GO DEMONS!!!! 🔴🔵👹
  23. Great to hear there has been some progress! 😎👍🏻 Looking forward to hearing more news on our Home Base for the Melbourne Football Club in 6 months time.
  24. I remember this story on the Footy Show. Can you believe this video clip is probably well over 25 years old. I don't think Jack Dyer ever got over Melbourne beating Richmond in the 1940 VFL Grand Final.
  25. Clayton Oliver was absolutely magnificent in his 150th game for the Melbourne Football Club. He has such a voracious appetite for the footy and always goes in hard for the ball. Tough as nails too! Kicked 2 goals and got 25 possessions too. It was a great game! Well done Clarrie!
