  1. I'd be happy with pick 37# in this year's draft for Sam Weideman. But it will probably be a future 3rd round from Essendon or Sydney. However, I wouldn't trust Adrian Dodoro as far as you could throw him....😒
  2. Would prefer we take a chance on Jackson Callow. But if Clayton Oliver can teach his old mate Josh Schache a bit of "mongrel" then I am not against this option as a potential replacement for Sam Weideman. Anyway, let's see if Sam Weideman ends up at the Bombers first.
  3. Glad Tim Lamb held his nerve. This trade for a star Collingwood ruckman reminds me of when Melbourne obtained Brownlow Medallist Peter Moore. Perhaps some of the respected elder Melbourne supporters here can remember those circumstances of how we managed to get Peter Moore in the early 1980's? I was far too young to remember those days. Let's hope Brodie Grundy can emulate a similar impact at the Demons but ideally play over 100 games for us. Fingers crossed he can win a Premiership at Melbourne too! 🤞 Bring on season 2023! GO DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹
  4. Still early days.... But these are some of the possibilities for pick #13 (which will become pick #14) in the 2022 AFL National Draft. 1) Matthew Jefferson - Tall forward 2) Mattaes Phillipou - Tall midfielder 3) Henry Hustwaite - Tall midfielder 4) Max Gruzewski - Tall forward 5) Lachie Cowan - Medium defender *********** I we are REALLY lucky someone like a Bailey Humphrey or a Elijah Tsatas might be a slider. But I highly doubt it.
  5. Good point. I don't have any ill will towards Luke Jackson. He loves his family and wants to be closer to them. He helped end the Melbourne Demon's 57 year Premiership drought. For that I am forever grateful. However, many of us here would be guilty of booing Tom Scully though, but those were under different circumstances.
  6. Not too fussed that some people disagreed with my opinion that I am disappointed that the Demons didn't get a better deal for Luke Jackson. I still feel we got screwed over. But it is what it is. I think asking Tim Lamb for an explanation is a fair call. He gets paid to make these deals with other AFL Clubs. Anyway, it doesn't matter now. The trade has been done. Just gotta move on I guess. However, I raise two questions.... 1) Does Luke Jackson's move home to WA make it more likely for the Demons to prefer drafting Victorians? The pull to go back home will always be a factor to be mindful of. 2) Do we now BOO Luke Jackson when we play against Fremantle? He is a Premiership player for us. I feel sad that he is now a Fremantle player but I am not really angry at him. Family comes first and I respect that.
  7. A pretty disappointing result after asking for an AFL draft pick in the top 10 and a first round pick. We should have received a better result from the Dockers for Luke Jackson. I feel we have been screwed over. I think we should be asking for a full explanation from Tim Lamb and the rest of the MFC list management staff as we definitely didn't get a fair trade from Fremantle for a extremely talented individual who is a 2021 Melbourne Demons Premiership player who helped turn the game to defeat the Western Bulldogs and is a 2021 Norwich Rising Star Award Winner. Just not good enough in my opinion.
  8. Anthony Munkarra has grown in height. He is about 190cms now. I don't wish to stereotype, but just the way he moves reminds me so much of Liam Jurrah, it truly is uncanny. Here is another highlights video:
  9. Apparently Anthony Munkara is a massive Indigenous talent from the Tiwi Islands. He is also part of Essendon's NGA, but will easily be picked in the top 40 in this year's AFL Draft. Here is a link about him: https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/anthony-munkara/ It was also reported that he kicked 9 goals and 6 behinds in a school match over the weekend. While I understand it is only school football it does show he knows how to kick a goal. I also found a highlights video of him on YouTube here: Does Anthony Munkara remind you of anyone? Personally, I think he definitely reminds me of Liam Jurrah especially in regards to way that he moves. Nevertheless, he is certainly a very exciting draft prospect. Fingers crossed that the Demons might have a chance of recruiting him in the 2022 AFL Draft.
  10. Whatever is done with a new administration and training base for the Demons it will also be crucial to appeal to the Government by saying it will include facilities for both the Melbourne Football Club's AFL and AFLW teams. It seems that is how Carlton got their extra funding at Ikon (Princes) Park as can be seen via this link: https://sport.vic.gov.au/news/articles/work-underway-on-new-elite-womens-facilities-at-ikon-park By explaining that our new home base will have elite training facilities for both the men's and women's teams will be the key priority to obtain funding. The main challenge, as previously mentioned is that all the other AFL clubs already have their own pre-existing home grounds such as Arden Street Oval (North Melbourne), Punt Road Oval (Richmond), Whitten Oval (Western Bulldogs) etc. Whereas, our home ground, the MCG, belongs to the MCC. Anyway, we just need to continue to push for a home base to be built and keep the pressure on the Melbourne Football Club board and the home base committee to get this project completed....eventually! Patience is a virtue as they say! 🤷🏼‍♂️
  11. I am actually surprised Rory Lobb isn't more open to going to ANY Melbourne club rather than just the Western Bulldogs. Is his heart totally set on the Bulldogs or would he consider coming to the Demons? I would definitely be open to Rory Lobb being part of the trade deal for Luke Jackson to the Dockers. I think Rory Lobb would be a handy pick up for the Demons and a far more versatile forward/ruck option than rolling the dice on Josh Bruce from the Western Bulldogs. It would also make us a very tall and dangerous forward line and forward/ruck combination with Gawn, Grundy, Lobb, Brown and McDonald.
  12. I would probably take the West Coast deal out of those two hypothetical scenarios. Having pick #20 is usually quite an advantage as was shown in last year's draft as many clubs would be tempted to do a "live trade" to get that pick at the start of the 2nd round of the draft to pick up a player that has slipped down the order.
  13. Is former Richmond and West Coast player Patrick Naish worth a shot? Played 11 games for the Eagles this year. Here is an article about him: https://www.zerohanger.com/former-tiger-and-eagle-patrick-naish-searching-for-career-lifeline-afl-trade-news-128684/ Might be worth putting on the rookie list and see how he goes playing in the VFL for the Casey Demons to see if he is up to having one final chance as an AFL player?
  14. I realise there may be a few more possible delistings. But from my understanding these will be the following jumper numbers available for any players drafted or traded in for next year's season in 2023. It will also be interesting what jumper number Brodie Grundy may end up receiving at the Demons? The following jumper numbers available for season 2023 are... #2 - Nathan Jones retired in 2021 and the number was left retired for season 2022. #6 - Luke Jackson is going back to his home state of WA to play for either Fremantle or West Coast. #12 - Toby Bedford requested a trade to GWS. #19 - Fraser Rosman has been delisted. #28 - Majak Daw has retired. #29 - Jayden Hunt has been picked up by West Coast as a free agent. #38 - Mitch Brown has retired. Anyway, that leaves at least 7 available jumper numbers for next year. Personally, I think Brodie Grundy will be given either number #6 or number #2 but number #12 might be an option too. Anyway, we will have to wait until about December or even January 2023 to find out who will be given which jumper number.
  15. I am not against giving Tom Phillips a rookie spot? He is a pretty good kick and regularly kicks goals too. At least that is what I recall when he played at Collingwood before being traded to Hawthorn. But only if he has recuperated from his injuries. This would definitely be his FINAL chance at AFL level though. Either way, he would be a better option than Oskar Baker as a wingman for the Demons.
  16. Is it just me or do alot of AFL clubs seem to have the wrong attitude during trade week? Especially Fremantle as well as Brisbane and in the recent past Essendon. Geelong also seem to be getting stronger even though they are now the new reigning Premiers. Rather than trying to come to an amicable solution with both clubs benefiting it is more about screwing over the other AFL clubs in trades. It can't bode well if this mindset continues.
  17. What an insult from Fremantle! They need to give us a fair deal. I certainly would ask West Coast what their best offer would be.
  18. There are three delisted players which I would consider having a look at to give them a 2nd chance. 1) Jackson Callow from Hawthorn 2) Lewis Taylor from Sydney 3) Liam Stocker from Carlton
  19. I don't think what happened at the end of 1997 between Melbourne and Fremantle is really relevant anymore. But at least a deal was worked out back then. Unfortunately, Peter Bell seems to be almost as bad as Adrian Dodoro to deal with when it comes to trading. It's all about screwing over the other AFL clubs in their minds rather than something fair and reasonable. Nevertheless, I have confidence in Chris Lamb the former police officer. I am sure he has excellent negotiating skills. This is probably more the negotiations going on between the Western Bulldogs and the Brisbane Lions over Josh Dunkley at the moment. 🤣😅😆😂😁
  20. Oh well, if Fremantle aren't going to give us a fair deal we will simply go with what West Coast can offer. As mischievous as it sounds I would love Todd Viney to cheekily say on trade radio that North Melbourne would gladly take Luke Jackson as pick 1# in the Pre-Season Draft if neither West Coast or Fremantle can work out a deal with Melbourne. That will definitely upset them both and mean they will actually have to show "good faith" towards Melbourne. Anyway, the countdown clock is ticking....⏰
  21. Apparently Chris Heffernan barracked for the Demons as a kid growing up? Unfortunately he didn't do much when he was traded from Essendon to Melbourne. I remember that final against Geelong in 2005 when he replaced David Neitz prior to the game who was injured. I knew we were sadly not much hope when I heard that news! 😔 Essendon must have been laughing at us to trade off their leftovers in Gary Moorcroft and Chris Heffernan to the Demons back in the 2000s. At least we are kind of even now getting Michael Hibberd and Jake Melksham from the Bombers. I still don't like that we have to deal with Adrian Dodoro who I see in the same realms as a dodgey used car salesman!😒
  22. Always the ultimate competitor Robbie Flower! Gotta love this little video where he won the Lou's handball competition.
  23. I am actually not against this suggestion. He could definitely help out Sam Weideman how to play as a forward. The only question is would Wayne Carey be able to behave himself? 😇
  24. If we don't end up trading Sam Weideman I certainly think trying Sam as a defender is worth a shot. It's basically Sam's last chance of making it in his AFL career. Unless another AFL club such as North Melbourne or even West Coast wanna see if he will make something of it as a forward for them? Wayne Carey isn't doing much at the moment. Perhaps he could teach Sam how to play more aggressively?
  25. Just been reading with jealous eyes what the Brisbane Lions are getting built for both their AFL and AFLW teams at their new Springfield training facility. Here is the link to the article from a few months ago: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-05-10/brisbane-lions-new-facility-almost-complete-springfield/101050930 This is definitely something the Demons should look to get done at Gosch's Paddock. Anyway, we will just have to continue to be patient and keep bugging both the State and Federal Governments for funding. Unless, someone knows an extremely generous billionaire who has a soft spot for the Melbourne Football Club?
