GAMEDAY: Rd 13 v Collingwood
The stats say the pies are taller, heavier, older and more games experience than us. if we win the middle and disrupt their kick to kick setups we will win big. Can see them running on emotion (like 60/40 green cordial) for a bit. Gap them early and break their spirit. Otherwise the flogs will hang in there till early in the third and we put a stamp on it. Gawn to dominate, Weids to deliver. Go Dees

GAMEDAY: Rd 13 v Collingwood
Got 3 different pubs booked in 2 hour slots so I can get from the big freeze to the team belting out the song on licenced premises, with a few well timed short stumbles in between….

TEAMS: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
This aligns with what i thought. He had agility and speed off the mark issues. A six week mini program sounds a great way to sort this

Do either team know how to defend? Geelongs rubbish hb possession game and port still can’t set up. Geelong holding and cheating all game (got called start of the 4th). Port letting its two key oppo targets roam unmanned. High scoring but little system wide defending.

Since he went out, bbb has barked like a dog. Maybe if he was putting even a marginal case, it would rate a conversation.

TEAMS: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Bbb was on the rails run until injured. He has to work hard and kick the door down. No free passes in that forward line. If he doesn’t understand that, then he will never get selected. It’s the system he has to work to deliver. to me, he didn’t look like he could get separation from defenders. Needs to build agility and fast twitch sprint capability - he should chat to TMAc, who cut his lunch.

Tom Sparrow MRP
Commentators making a fuss about Sparrow being in trouble for a hit on Rich. my take: Sparrow turns his body to block Rich from the contest, not bump him directly (a la Hipwood on Max in the first). Rich flops for the free and gets it. I doubt there was a) intent b) contact in the incident. Later, Rich flops for a head high free in the forward pocket in the last. Example of how he plays for frees. no case to answer. Zorko, on the other hand, lunges at TMac with an elbow. Intent and contact are clear. Impact is low-medium (thanks to TMAcs chiselled jaw). Suspension.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
No player on the ground got 30 touches or more. Is that a first for any game this season? Shows the bipolar nature of the game- each side dominated for a half. We stuck to them better when we were down, and cut through them better when we were on. their talls looked so dangerous early, and went completely AWOL later. In the pregame thread my barometer for this match was contested marks. It held true- smashed in this in the first half (and all other stats), much improved in the second. Brisvegas, more than most teams, have to be stopped getting contested marks. thought they came out to play dirty, too. Hits on Max , holding Trac in each contest, Zorko hit on MacDonald, etc. we don’t get sucked in,which is great.

My 3 word player analysis V Brisbane
What a spud he is. Sale gets legged - htb. ‘Brilliant tackle’. Same thing happens to dickinher later on - big fuss about being legged, no htb! So many times his bias leaks through, always ready to talk us down and talk himself up,

Farewell Sam Weideman
So hip wood and Daniher went missing, should they be dropped? Thought Sam did better tonight (apart from his kicking). Clunked some marks, made good position (gave that front and centre goal to Kozzi) led solidly. Keeps his place for mine. If he finds his kicking boots there is 4-5 goals in him per game.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
I think whoever wins the contested marks wins the game. Two cracking sides going at it. If we win the contested marks/ stop them taking them we get it done.

May’s Kick-in From Behind
And isn’t he having a jolly time of it right now?
-
May’s Kick-in From Behind
How many came straight back? The kick out seems to be doing ok. If we mark it or win the contest we are away, otherwise we lock it in. The open side has less players to do this, and the chance of interception and return are higher.

Max also gets smashed by opposition teams. Blocked, held and scragged at every contest, without any protection from the maggots. Once last night he got the first touch in a marking contest, his opponent simply grabbed him on both shoulders from behind and dumped him backwards. No free. max is superb, and I love the big fella
