  1. i hope he goes straight to rhylee west and puts a massive clamp on him for a full four quarters, showing why a small defender is worth much more than a third rotation inside mid
  2. you mean to tell me the two gerards claim things that are completely wrong, but one says it and the other affirms it as fact? i, for one, am shocked! shocked, i tells yer!!
  3. in fairness, one of the things i like about figjam's time in the media is his relentless positivity about nearly all teams he doesn't get down in the mouth or pick favourites like kornes, as an example
  4. caro has been hot on this since april i suspect bevo was our first port of call, and then focus shifted after he fineagled a new deal outta footscray
  5. he's been playing back there for most of the second half of the year, since switching roles with kentfield, who looks good presenting to the midfield this was, by some margin, the best game fullarton has played there thus far - he was lone tall standing really, as freeman and lual aren't that tall - fullarton at over 200cm is our third tallest player on the list, behind gawn and campbell i suspect that if plugger mac retires or lever ends up traded we may think about contracting him again personally thinking about the order of importance of our tall defenders i'd say it's may > turner > lever > (petty >) adams > fullarton very interested to see what the new coach coming in does with petty; for mine he's still best utilised as a tall defender than than a forward, but turner has come on in leaps and bounds since being allowed to 'settle' behind the ball, whereas my expectation was that 2025 would have seen it the other way around given turner's forays forward previously
  6. he gets to the right spots to impact the contest, which is half the battle as a key forward
  7. mouthpiece for afl i guarantee you they'd prefer figjam was in charge of the devils over the demons
  8. well the story goes that buckley has been sounding out former assistants robert harvey - now at the aints under ross lyon, previously in charge of forwards, now the midfield scott burns - senior assistant at the crom; in charge of the forward line (i know! a small defender in charge of the forwards!! OH, THE HUMANITY!!!) brenton sanderson - working at mentone grammar and coaching balwyn in the ammos, plus sen radio spots justin longmuir - senior coach at flagmantle hayden skipworth - still at the filth as senior assistant coach; in charge of their midfield scott selwood - at the filth, as assistant coach, primarily in charge of the forwards (another defender! WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!) ash collins - general manager of football at werribee in the vfl obviously longmuir is unlikely to be going anywhere with finals all but assured in 2025, and sanderson was previously buckley's right hand man, but who knows if he's interested in returning to the afl system with its associated pressure cooker environment
  9. i'd like to see a win, continuing on from the excellent ball movement and variety of attacking forays in the second half of last week sadly, footscray are not meth coke
  10. bears' system looked like it had completely broken down still 20 points down, but another couple of goals to finish this third quarter and it's game on
  11. he hasn't at this stage it's all media speculation
  12. excellent today in a quality vfl game he's too good not to be playing in afl
  13. the three quarters i saw was the sort of quality football and high pressured contest that is more entertaining than most thursday nights in the afl this season stats: my top 6... 6: spargo 5: fullarton 4: bonner 3: duursma 2: campbell 1: kentfield annabale for the bears thru their academy and the latest duursma look like serious players the battle between campbell and mcinerney was a great contest within the contest
  14. sheedy would have been a great figurehead; the equivalent of roos coming in, but even his handover at gw$ was messy as it gets, with choco williams promised the role and then sheedy reneged on their agreement he would have been a handful that our club would have been incapable of handling given how much of a mess we were his coaching in the last few years at the peptides left a lot to be desired parachuting buckley in is more like the baggers bringing in malthouse if he wants to go through the proper process, he should go for it he should not ben anointed
  15. geez it's a good game johnson brings it back to 3 points at the 17 min mark of the last
  16. bears get the extra goal's break fullarton has been under siege as the only true tall defender
  17. i missed the entire 1st quarter where we got out to a the lead which they reeled back straight away been quite a good watch to 3/4 time spargo miles too good for this level, as is the latest duursma who is playing for us today fullarton been surprisingly good as basically the only tall down back, while kentfield shows a heap leading and attacking the contest, as does el jefe from time to time, but the latter's kicking is diabolically comical at times the usual suspects all standard good enough for vfl, not good enough for afl players - laurie, billings, the kolt all look like very good, ordinary footballers woey 2.0, henderson, pup brown all just ordinary
  18. verrall a strong mark at the back of the pack and it's back to a point the diff
  19. ohmigod el jefe what the hell was that appalling - snapped it from 35m out on his right and the ball didn't go 20m; it virtually dribbled along the ground he leaves so much to be desired
  20. it's actually been a pretty quality game of football they just have that slight edge - skill, decision making, pressure, and most importantly finishing
  21. caro's article again conflated and connected completely unrelated things but to say the club is not settled off field is true - it's settled, it's just that guerra and smith have not STARTED in the ceo and president positions so caro [censored] on the mfc in her latest op ed, what's new... but buried amongst the 'how could figjam pick the demons over the devils?!??' are these nuggets about how taswegia are going to get even better assistance than gc17 and gw$: On the negative side, the AFL Commission on Friday delayed the final call on draft and list concessions for the Devils until the end of September. But on the positive, those concessions will far outweigh what was afforded the Gold Coast and even GWS back in 2010 and 2011. <snip> Tasmania look certain to be granted a raft of first-round draft picks at the end of 2027 – the national draft will be held in Tasmania – including picks one, three, five, seven, nine, 11 and 13 along with the 10 best 17-year-olds in Australia, who can be taken over the first two years of the team’s life. They will also be able to hand out sign-on bonuses totalling an estimated $1 million for proven stars. Although the Devils will be forced to trade some high picks, they get to keep pick No.1 and will have access to father-sons from their home state and academy players. that confirms some of the devil in the detail
  22. for starters, how about not having yr comms director also working as the aflw general manager we currently cannot get the basics right - like the day that a game is played
  23. i think he already IS an incredible media performer i think he could be so much more
  24. miles the only player who puts other player's into an advantageous position
