  1. is two first rounders for houston worth the melts it'll cause here? think of all the content we'll need to consume!
  2. fair ugh, i'm just predisposed against him having had to deal with his bs and megalomania for three years i'm sticking with the 'tool' and retracting everything else, although i swear we feel 'younger' this year than last year with the heap of kids coming thru
  3. good to see kornes confirming something that has been being openly talked about since the pear had their bye he's such a tool anyone see the article he has on ninefax slagging off the dees? talks about us being an 'ageing list' pretty sure we're younger, on average across the board and certainly on field, than we were last year
  4. or, alternatively, there's no consensus pick 1 cos the top end talent coming thru this year isn't comparable to the best of previous years i look at the nba where the current draft crop simply doesn't compare to the quality coming thru next year or the year before
  5. i'd say he's dined out on defences for the last several years... brilliant 2021 culminating in being second on the goalkickers list and 6 goals in a premiership excellent 2022, finishing 5th on the goalkickers list injury hit year in 2023, but was right in the mix when he broke his foot currently 12th on it in 2024 your disdain for him is clear, but why you feel the need to denigrate his performances i simply do not understand
  6. getting houston in would, you expect, be a big part of 'let's go again' with the likes of gawn, may, and viney entering their twilight years i'm just not sure trading fritsch 'out' helps that he's our best goalkicker for the last five seasons, and was 3rd on that ladder - some 2 goals behind the leader - in 2019 that's six years of being a consistent scoreboard threat you'd want something good if he was on the move
  7. fans travelling to go to the game is almost completely irrelevant also, those falling in the likely 7-10 spots should know that they'll be heading for a destination location to play their elimination 'wildcard' game, so if they desperately 100% want to get there, they can it's all about broadcast revenue and gambling $$s as always
  8. if there's a buck in it, 100% they will do it
  9. he's a seriously good player it's swings and roundabouts with picks imo we're in win now mode
  10. https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/zurich-insurance-group-introduces-blanket-concussion-exclusion-for-new-afl-players-in-wake-of-giant-payouts/news-story/355c2c09b46bcda1f1166310a2222f64 Global insurance provider Zurich has shut the gate on concussion claims for new AFL players after a series of million-dollar payouts. [snip] The change has triggered fears footballers will be left financially exposed, with some of the league’s top agents at an AFL Players’ Association conference on Wednesday accusing the insurance provider of walking out on the game’s stars amid the concussion crisis. A senior Zurich manager confirmed that new AFL clients could not claim for concussion under the so-called Active policy in email on July 11. “The business has made a decision to exclude concussion on all professional sportspeople,” the email said. “No benefit will be payable for any claim where the condition or event giving rise to the claim is directly or indirectly related to concussion or traumatic injury, including complications. “This includes chronic traumatic encephalopathy or (chronic) post-concussion syndrome or any other future diagnosis linked to head trauma.” Player agents are now understood to be weighing up alternative cover options amid growing concerns about the impacts of brain injuries. this doesn't sound good, and it sounds like murphy in as bad a way as @WalkingCivilWar indicates gus is: Four AFL players have been forced into medical retirement this year due to concussions, including Collingwood’s Nathan Murphy and Josh Carmichael, Melbourne’s Angus Brayshaw and Western Bulldogs’ Aiden O’Driscoll. Last week, Murphy said he still suffered “constant headaches” and had days where he did “not want to get out of bed”, 10 months after his Grand Final head-knock. Players do not have a group trauma insurance policy that covers concussions, meaning they have to take out their own individual policies in conjunction with their agents. AFL concussion victims without trauma cover only have access to money from their existing player contracts and the AFLPA’s $25m injury and hardship fund.
  11. was never the same after he snotted andrew brayshaw - that's when his career really ended
  12. he'll certainly be better off playing the point in chicago than being the off guard in okc handle can be a bit loose at times but some of his passing is electric quick
  13. can we trade in patty mills? cat b rookie option? dude is a FREAK
  14. didn't know but they're vehemently anti-future trading for teams like ours and the filth - fraught with danger, as per the lachie schulz trade
  15. spoke to someone today whose mail is normally very good and said we are a better chance than not to have him with us in 2024 doesn't think it'll be two first rounders also thinks we'd be mad to trade out of 2024
  16. the people united will never be defeated
  17. jvr doesn't appear to be, he seems to relish it
  18. Souvent pour s'amuser les hommes d'equipage It's like talking to a stranger
  19. max gruzewksi ahead of him with 30.19 from 13 games
  20. he's 8th on the vfl goalkicker's tally with 29.19 from 16 games, of which i think the first three were played in defence averages per game 9.6 disposals 6.2 kicks 3.4 handballs 3.8 marks 1.9 tackles 2 goals a game (probably closer to 2.5, 3 for games played forward)
  21. yeah not sure about that a two time premiership player as a father is a pretty big deal and formative in yr life i imagine, especially as jake presumably would've grown up around that club and then freo during his early childhood; jack grew up around dees, dingley, and crom jack joining the mfc while todd worked there is a huge deal, no doubt be interesting to see if waterman wants to play in a premiership as the same colours as his dad - i suppose it depends if he thinks they can regenerate quickly on field jack had the option to go to the puddy tatts and didn't let's see if jake has the some tug on the heartstrings
  22. once tasmania and then the 20th team comes in the finals effectively being the top 10 the idea of a wildcard weekend will be deemed a lot more 'acceptable' it won't be called that tho, cos the afl will want something to trademark and license it gives the afl a new revenue stream opportunity - it's not part of the existing broadcast rights agreements, so perfect thing to pair with a streamer for two games one weekend afl can ultimately 'sell' it a la gil's round in adelaide, and make it standalone friday nite and saturday twilight / night in a sold location to the highest bidder it would actually be perfect for tasmania as there's that white elephant of a roofed stadium to utilise once the thing is built just add it to the bill as another thing for the tasmanian taxpayers to pay for as part of their initial afl set-up in the first few years i like that it gives a benefit to finishing top 6 as they get a week off while the others play off in an elimination contest presumably 7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9?
  23. broken hill connection to adelaide, i assume
