They are quick, they put the ball into space and back their speed to get it. Around the contest it is get the ball going forward at all cost, very similar to the Bulldogs last year. Other clubs want to keep the ball and get it into the right position before going forward, their speed allows them to keep pressure on the player with the ball so you don't get that clear possession. How do you beat them, follow Port Melbournes game plan attack them continue to run at them create the over lap and lower your eyes going forward, hit the lead up rather than kick to contest. This is why Adelaide will win the forwards lead up at the ball, not a massive contested marking side up forward but have players that work hard to present at the ball

It is pretty simple, Jack Watts will be traded if the Football Club thinks the trade will make us better. He will play for Melbourne next season if this isn't the case.
-
Again, pushes his market value down. It comes across as the club is off loading him, you would only trade him if he is part of a deal that will make us better or a top 30 pick, I can't see us getting the latter so he either stays or is a part of a player trade.
-
Members couldnt care less if he was traded. Player movement is now a big part of our game. My point is the right currency wont be there if coach and captain get stuck into him via the media
-
I don't disagree, but if you want someone out you need to sell them to get maximum return. If you are a club hearing that from the captain you drop your offer to a third round pick
-
This is what I find interesting, both the Coach and now the Captain have had a crack at Watts pretty openly through the media. I don't think you do that to a bloke you are trying to trade, the only result is decreasing his trade value. I think the club just wants him to have a red hot crack in 2018 and we are going to poke him and poke him so he comes back with the I am going to stick it up everyone attitude.
-
Watts unfortunately just isn't doesn't have that competitive drive. A naturally talented person, seems like a really good bloke but the type that expects his talent will get him through and so far it has he has played 153 games. He is one of the few players that can actually kick the football on our list and this is the main issue. You trade Watts it doesn't leave us with many players that really have elite foot skills. Watts and Salem are our only players that have elite foot skills. So can Watt's fix his attitude or get someone else in that can kick the footy that has the right attitude. The club needs to make a tough call

The best and worse thing to happen to the VFL clubs is AFL vic canning the development league. You will be able to cut support staff numbers and player cost. The flip side will be getting the next Generation of kids developed to play at your club. Back to our depth The issue is age, out side Weiderman and Brayshaw, what kids do we have that played on Saturday to be half excited about

Colin sylvia mark 2. All the ability but does he want it
-
Really, the guy is a solid defender Pick 10 is more than enough. I reckon Pick 10 and 28 for pick 18 and Lever
-
Win games we should win, if we did that this year we would all be going to the MCG on Friday Night to watch Melbourne V Geelong
-
Whats left in our Cheque book, we all assume we should have a lot of room in our salary cap and we should outside Hogan I wouldn't expect any of our players to be getting more than $600K + per year, I hope not anyway as I don't think we have any star players let alone superstars
-
Agree, our Tall defenders are flakey at best and we don't have 1 that is a rookie. Frost is a monster and needs to learn to use his strength, Oscar is Oscar bit like Tom we never know what we will get so we need a high quality in Lever plus these guys getting better.
-
The Trade or keep conversation is depending on whats on offer. I couldn't see any club giving up a top 30 pick for Jack Watts, if someone was prepared to offer a pick 18-30 you would consider but outside that you keep him. Or as stated he is used to get a player that will make us better.
-
What about this pick 10 and 28 to Adelaide for Pick 18 and Lever, pick 18 and Kent to WCE for Gaff.

VFL 1st Qualifying Final - Williamstown v Casey Demons
drdrake replied to Drunkn167's topic in Melbourne Demons
I liked Kings Game, he is a big boy and I think with another preseason and a bit of confidence he could become a good ruckman. Outside of King, Brayshaw was really the only other MFC player that I walked away happy with and the future he will has, the rest are a long way off. -
Everyone Has Worked Out Our Weakness (except the coaches)
drdrake replied to Cranky Franky's topic in Melbourne Demons
Be interested to see what our stats are like with Viney in our team. Viney has an amazing ability to break tackles, he still handballs but when you break a tackle it creates the over lap. Others handballed before getting tackled that just put the next bloke under pressure. -
With McGovern staying at Adelaide, I would think Fremantle would look at him next, believe he is a WA boy

Membership is just a revenue source to the club. That is all we are, and in turn we pay to be entertained. Like a bad show you get no refund when the entertainment is bad. Players have been removed from all supporters, this started when the AFL centralized home grounds. As soon as the game is finished we have no where to go to interact with the players. Players to their credit are involved in a number of community programs, but engaging members is limited.

Is he 200cm, take a mark and can kick
-
Same same, pull up captain/player interviews from every loss that we were expected to win over the past 3 years and you will get the same tripe.
-
Why, so they can tell us they are really hurting at the moment and feel disappointed. Then we can all jump on here and call them dumb stupid footballers, that are like a broken record when they should win games but don't. The only ones that can change what happened this year, last year and really for the last 15 years is the playing group, stop accepting defeat, be ruthless not toothless
-
Not sure what type of player he is. Doesn't play inside mid or outside mid. His kicking is no worse that 90% of our team
-
So he is fits in well at our club H, Trengove, Hullett will be our three mandatory spots. Kennedy not sure who he has [censored] off not to get an AFL game this year. Vince hard call but he really struggled this year and his last kick on Saturday summed up his season.
-
Do you know why, because when they are out the players know we need to play as a team to win. We start to get players back and we expect individuals to win the game and the fact is we have no individual that can win a game. Is Tom McDonald the biggest dummy sitter in the AFL. He has some good games up forward and then we put him back and he has been disinterested and woeful since. We all bag Jack Watts, unfortunately we need another one of him with a bit more competitive nature but with his skill set. I'm still baffled why he was pushed back in the second half. The reason was we needed someone who could kick in our back 6 to set things up. I have never seen a side miss so many targets and make so many bad decisions. 2017 massive failure, we had 5 losses that we should have won. No excuses, but we didn't show North, Freo, Hawthorn and Collingwood the respect, we expected wins and thought it would just happen. This big headed, mentally soft attitude is an underlying issues in 2017, and that is bad, I can cop not being good enough, I can't cop being good enough but not respecting the game, your opponent and your supporters. Our Players showed the Supporters no respect on the weekend, none what so ever and for that they should be completely embarrassed but I bet you all 65% couldn't give a stuff about us as long as they get the fat pay checks. These are the players good or bad the club need to continue to weed out. I tell you one bloke that gave a stuff and he played Full Back for Collingwood, he loved knocking us out after the way he was exited last year.
