So he is fits in well at our club H, Trengove, Hullett will be our three mandatory spots. Kennedy not sure who he has [censored] off not to get an AFL game this year. Vince hard call but he really struggled this year and his last kick on Saturday summed up his season.

Do you know why, because when they are out the players know we need to play as a team to win. We start to get players back and we expect individuals to win the game and the fact is we have no individual that can win a game. Is Tom McDonald the biggest dummy sitter in the AFL. He has some good games up forward and then we put him back and he has been disinterested and woeful since. We all bag Jack Watts, unfortunately we need another one of him with a bit more competitive nature but with his skill set. I'm still baffled why he was pushed back in the second half. The reason was we needed someone who could kick in our back 6 to set things up. I have never seen a side miss so many targets and make so many bad decisions. 2017 massive failure, we had 5 losses that we should have won. No excuses, but we didn't show North, Freo, Hawthorn and Collingwood the respect, we expected wins and thought it would just happen. This big headed, mentally soft attitude is an underlying issues in 2017, and that is bad, I can cop not being good enough, I can't cop being good enough but not respecting the game, your opponent and your supporters. Our Players showed the Supporters no respect on the weekend, none what so ever and for that they should be completely embarrassed but I bet you all 65% couldn't give a stuff about us as long as they get the fat pay checks. These are the players good or bad the club need to continue to weed out. I tell you one bloke that gave a stuff and he played Full Back for Collingwood, he loved knocking us out after the way he was exited last year.

Agree with this, we shown this season we can't beat North, Fremantle, Hawthorn and a half strength Collingwood. Plus the Doggies will be better. We had our opportunity we blew it, the competition is as close as ever. We need someone to step up to be a star of the competition, we don't have a star a bloke that when the games needs to be won they win it. We have one in the making and we saw him try on Saturday but he has a long way to go but has all the tools to be as good as a Dangerfield.

Can someone explain why jack watts seemed to play the second half down back
-
Yep and we had our best side in
-
As supporters we have held up our end of the club, record attendance at games membership, our off field we will see a good report at our agm, onfield just makes it so hard for our club. When will our players stand up.
-
True to form mentally soft. When will this club get over this mental fragility that we have. We lost 5 games we should have won Tom mcdonald trade him
-
Gaff will be exposed at the Eagles next year with no Mitchell or Priddas, if he was smart he would get a deal done whilst he has some currency, wait a year and no one will want him. Would fit into our side as we have the grunt players we need some out side polish.

What would be the difference between what Watts offered the 3 weeks prior to being dropped and the performances of Weiderman and Stretch over the past two week. That is the key if whoever Watts replaces will he offer more to our side. If we say Stretch there is no question
-
One think we all agree on is Watts doesn't play as a Key Position Tall. You set up like Adelaide Hogan Deep, Pederson high and Watts higher working back. There is no question Jack Watts should come in for Stretch. Our 6 forwards Garlett Hogan Hannan/ANB Watts Pedo Petracca/Harmes Hannan/ANB/Petracca/Harmes will also work through the midfield. Collingwood have a small back line, you play Watts and if Howe goes to him run him out of our forward 50m

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 23
drdrake replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our destiny is in our players mind. It isn't going to just happen, in fact Collingwood would love to knock us out of finals, like we would to them. Essentially we should be sitting on top of the ladder looking at home finals, the 4 games against Fremantle, Hawthorn and North x 2 are the difference between enjoying the last week not caring about the result to hoping like hell our players turn up to play and we win. -
First stop is the MCG on Saturday, win that game and we can worry about where to watch finals from
-
We have seen his set shot looks OK, we hasn't kicked it enough in general play for us to know if he can kick on the run or away from goals, the couple of kicks he had on Sunday they were shockers
-
Correct, I don't think the way Sam kicked the ball on Sunday is an indication on his ability to kick the ball, at least I hope not. We only have a small sample of his kicking ability I hope Sunday was just a bad day
-
I don't think anyone has questioned his ability and what we all think he can be, but he isn't ready to play AFL at this stage. If Jack Watts put in a 6 possession game every single person media and on this site will be call for him to be dropped. We jumped on a 10 possession 1 goal game and he was dropped and deserved to be. However we are looking at September for the first time in a very long time we need to judge who has the potential to impact the game more Weid or Watts?
-
He was terrible yesterday, outside his tackling there wasn't much else. I agree that Watts should have been dropped and he will stay at Casey at least for 1 more week but this kid isn't ready for AFL football, he will get a game next week but I reckon that is more to teach Watts another lesson.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 21
drdrake replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Circle, I remember R1 2007 heading down to the MCG Friday night season opening game Melbourne V St Kilda a re-match of the final from 2006 which Melbourne won with a mix of old and new plus a kid in there ranks that could be anything, he ended up playing his career out at Fremantle sort off Peel Thunder really, one finished at Carlton the other is captain of our club today. St Kilda went whack in front of 50,000 people and that sent our club spiralling downwards to places we all want to forget. We have our chance to inflict this back on St Kilda, with aging veterans on the way out and a few young potential stars. We have seen snippets of light over this season and if we leave on Sunday afternoon with a win the opportunity to end what St Kilda started us on in 2007 and play finals again is a real possibility. The flip side they could once again pull the shutters down on our season and have us all looking at another meaningless September. -
Fast forward 12 months and he is put under the microscope for his endeavour in this years preseason. Watts is very much a confidence player and needs a bit to get his touch. I reckon the club made a massive error in bringing him straight in from 4 weeks out injured. Massive disappointment that for the first time in 10 years we have a chance of playing finals and this guy is out of form.
-
What realists
-
I think the topic should be are we loading our players, tapering is the end result. You load up you program and then taper off to get the full positive effects. I don't think we have, I think we have just come to the end of our season. We play high intensity football, not the most naturally talented side we have to work hard to win games. I think our players are done and will be surprised if we win 1 of our last 3. I hope I'm proven wrong but since the first half V Port, which Is the best half we have played for a long time, we have been flat.
-
Sorry, I don't buy into to this at all. Players these days do what is best for them and you can't blame them
-
Paul Roos always said everyone is up for trade, if the trade will make the club better you consider. It would want to be a good trade to see Hogan leave our club but with all that has gone on this year I wouldn't blame the kid if he wanted to return back to WA to be with his Family and Friends.

I remember back in the 1990's, a high profiled USA sprinter got off a ban for high testosterone levels with his defence being he had 5 bottles of beer and excessive amounts of sex prior to his test. His country's governing body accepted this, but the sports governing body over ruled and he got his ban.

Citius, Altius, Fortius, which is Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger" This is what every athlete strives for be it your casual runner just wanting to beat their personal best or the professional athlete that will do anything it takes to do the same. If we look at team sport in isolation the top competitions global have so much money it is impossible for WADA or any testing authority to keep up. A lot of substances that athletes are taking today are legal, they are enhance to meet all the legal limits, just because it is legal does it make it right. It may be legal because it is impossible to test for it. Testing is complex for a number of drugs, it is about having elevated levels in your system, the hard part is assessing the point where something is considered elevated and also what needs to be elevated to give you better performance. Money is massive in sport, whilst this is the case and it always will be there will be people cheating to cash in.

We need to win 3 out of 4 to play finals. There is no positive unless we play finals because it will be our own fault if we don't, to miss out because we lost 4 games due to the mental aptitude of our players. The competition is so even that really most teams will be able to make the 8 in 2018, you need to take your chances, I fear we have missed ours and clubs under us will be better than us in 2018
