  1. Who cares, Collingwood games aren't the be all and end all any more. You have clubs like Richmond, Hawthorn, Essendon(when playing well) that draw crowds. The better we play the better the draw becomes, the more people that will jump on the Melbourne Band wagon the less reliant we become on deals like this. They didn't care about this game till you get one like next Monday both sides up and about 80K should attend
  2. The game style will evolve, a few years back the Roos/Malthouse years it was team defense, it has changed to more focus on defending and winning the ball where it is so teams get scored against as soon as it clears the scrimmage. What will happen is a club will work a way and it will most likely be Hawthorn to beat the pressure. This will be drafting kids that have high skill level that will kick the ball low and hard over 20-30m. It will change at the moment at U18 level they are testing for athletes this will evolve to kids that actually have the skill set to play at a high level and clubs will back themselves to make them fit enough. The game is being played the way it is today because clubs want the ready made player, you need to be able to run and jump first, kick and mark second and clubs are backing themselves to teach players how to kick once they get them. To me if you can't kick at 18 your bad habits are already there and it is impossible to go from a average kick to elite, you can improve a little but not a lot. Fitness you can always improve
  3. Funny, the game is better to be watched on TV now that live at the ground. Take away the atmosphere of the crowd, watching the game is like watching an U9s local game of football with 36 players within 60ms of the ball. Your last point changing Holding the ball rules, they don't need be altered they need to be enforced. You get the ball you need to dispose of it, soon as you take a couple of steps your done and if you don't handball or kick the ball pay the kick no matter where abouts on the ground it is.
  4. I had a trident membership and any time we played a big club there supporters just sat in the reserved seat areas. The only time they were moved on was if the person whose seat they were sitting in turned up. It was a joke and most of the time it was loud mouth young blokes that where fishing for someone to bite. The club couldn't do anything about it MCG staff couldn't care who they let in. Besides the view which to me level two on the half forward flank is the best seats at the MCG, you don't get much else
  5. Thats what i posted i reckon we need a certain amount of cash to fund a new admin training base we need to contribute so the afl local state and federal governments will chip in.
  6. Sorry, we went into debt to purchase these machines but we won't use the money from the sale to pay off our debt. Something a bit smelly going on, I will take a stab at it and this is my take only could be way off the mark but makes sense to me. A month ago we go to the media about establishing a home base and finally bringing our club together. I reckon the AFL, State and Federal governments have gone OK we are in but you need to contribute X to make this happen. We don't have X and can't finance the X amount with our current debt. You know what lets take the Moral high ground sell off an asset get the coverage as a socially responsible community club but more importantly raises the X amount we need to contribute for our home base. To me if you have the money to pay off your debts you do it and save the interest, to me if what the age is stating is correct it will be money in money out
  7. Didn't the club go back into debt to finance the purchase of the Pokie licences. Hope the sale has covered our debt
  8. I don't think people would make the decision to re-new their membership based on one round. I think the teasing aspect of 2017 some really good wins, but 5-6 really terrible loses that we happened to have one of those loses in R23.
  9. I live in an area that is in Melbournes West, both North and Bulldogs have a footprint in our area but today Hawthorn said stuff you we are targeting your area for new members. They did a mail box drop in our area with an offer of free family tickets to the Hawthorn V Melbourne game. One think the residents of my community love is anything free
  10. Agree 100%, I will renew at some stage no rush but really have no desire to watch AFL, take the emotional link to the club you support out the AFL product isn't entertaining, footballers are robotic and over coached.
  11. And like all clubs we have another group of band wagon supporters. They are the group you need to get onboard for large growth
  12. Win that Collingwood game and we are 3000 in front. Need to grow not maintain.
  13. Thats what i thought. Took them each week they loved going. Hit school they are the only kids in the class supporting melbourne. They stick fat with dad for a few more years and then they understand winning and losing. I hope for your sake we start winning
  14. Disagree with this. Everyone has the right to decide. Essentially over the past 11 years we have had an inferior product. If any business had a product that bad for that long they would have shut their doors. Our supporters have kept this club alive for an extended period, like our players each supporter decides whether they buy in and turn up each week. Circumstances change both my kids now support other teams you try to steer them towards the team you support but they eventually decide who they will support. Them supporting other teams comes down to on field performance easy to convince kids when your team is winning when their not is easy for their mates to convince them to change.
  15. It all about Essendon, we don't play home games against them because their clash jumper really isn't a clash jumper and me a small club that is bullied by the AFL to have a white jumper because the AFL don't have the courage to upset Essendon, same as Collingwood at least they have tried to this year and I think that is more on the back off Richmond having great success both on and off field with the Yellow clash strip
  16. There will be a lot of members that would have opted out of dedicated Demon program, that will explain the difference between this time last year to now. Will be a few that will be wait and see how preseason unfolds and you can't blame them, all we have heard from the club over the past 11 years it the hype of youth and potential, you know what a lot of members aren't buying in on that anymore, we are a laughing stock of the AFL, even the AFL treats us like that. I have lost my kids to other clubs so really for me no point renewing as I won't go to the matches with out them.

Wouldn't like to see this kid in the West Coast Forward line he would dominate playing with Kennedy and Darling
  18. I think Freo just wanted to get it out the way, they have at least 3 other deals they need to close in 24 hours
  19. Spot on, pick 29 and 35 to Bne for 19. Or 28, 29 and 45 to Gold Coast for 20 and 22
  20. Adelaide should back what their Captain put out there about Lever going for Money and not Success. 2017 and 18 pick plus 2nd this year for Lever and Adelaides 1st round 2018, Walker is confident they are better than us in 2018 so lets make it interesting as a bit of a side bet
  21. I know one bloke that will be terrified, a big full forward that has a player that can hit him lace out going to a bloke that can't hit a target except if he is kicking a goal
  22. Really, the guy is a solid defender Pick 10 is more than enough. I reckon Pick 10 and 28 for pick 18 and Lever
  23. Agree, our Tall defenders are flakey at best and we don't have 1 that is a rookie. Frost is a monster and needs to learn to use his strength, Oscar is Oscar bit like Tom we never know what we will get so we need a high quality in Lever plus these guys getting better.

Is he 200cm, take a mark and can kick
  25. Tall Defenders on our list T Mac, O Mac and Frost, that is really it. We have two areas to fill a tall defender and second ruck/Forward, this bloke fills one of these voids.
