I don't think people would make the decision to re-new their membership based on one round. I think the teasing aspect of 2017 some really good wins, but 5-6 really terrible loses that we happened to have one of those loses in R23.

I live in an area that is in Melbournes West, both North and Bulldogs have a footprint in our area but today Hawthorn said stuff you we are targeting your area for new members. They did a mail box drop in our area with an offer of free family tickets to the Hawthorn V Melbourne game. One think the residents of my community love is anything free

Would love to pull up previous post on his injury. Anzac Eve match V Richmond this will be his return match

With the improving surface conditions is this the first move to bring back the curtain raiser or VFL game prior. I'm sure most clubs will be pushing to play their VFL side prior to AFL to share the resources.

If there is conclusive evidence helmets will reduce concussion the AFL will have no choice but to introduce. On the NFL, take helmets out of the game and players will learn not to tackle head first. That is the current issues with Helmets, they give you false confidence that by wearing one you are protected and you don't learn how to protect your head. I was involved in this discussion a junior level, should leagues make helmets compulsory for juniors, I believe a couple of leagues may have and I know some clubs have made it compulsory for certain younger age groups. Not a big fan, but if it reduces concussion and someone can show this is the case I'm all for player safety at any level.

Robbo (Mark) doesn't think we'll make finals
drdrake replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Its not the young guys that go missing in matches we should win. The bottom line is we had 5 games last year we should have won, the only reason we didn't had nothing to do with ability it was all about application which is a mind set. People who are claiming that they expect to make finals great, if we don't the season is a fail. I don't expect us to make finals, hope we do but still will head to matches with no real confidence that we will win. -

It's not just the final round, we shouldn't have been in that position, in fact we win the games we should have won except the thing between our ears got in the way and we finish top 4. We can get fitter, stronger, faster but if we haven't improve the mental side we are in for another roller coaster season. -

I think a lot of people would have Melbourne outside top 8. Even most supporters are hoping we make the finals rather have the expectation that we do. I'm one of them, hoping we do with no real confidence that we will. Ability wise we have the talent, mentally do we still have that mental fragility. -
Simple carlton wore home strip for the night which meant we had to wear away strip

Agree 100%, I will renew at some stage no rush but really have no desire to watch AFL, take the emotional link to the club you support out the AFL product isn't entertaining, footballers are robotic and over coached.

And like all clubs we have another group of band wagon supporters. They are the group you need to get onboard for large growth

Win that Collingwood game and we are 3000 in front. Need to grow not maintain.

I read an article recently can't remember where but it was about Roger Federer. I can remember with the now great athlete carried on like Nick Kyrgios. The article goes back to this point and the appointment of a new coach that his No1 think he taught Roger was Humility and respect, respect for the game and people with in the game. The coach was in a car accident and died soon after taking over as coach. It clicked with Roger and he worked hard on what this coach had started and made him the player he is today. Every Junior coach of any sport should get this article pin it to the club rooms give it out to parents. If you don't respect the game and your opponent and be humble in both victory and defeat you don't deserve to play the game.

GWS should have been a Canberra side and Gold Coast a Tasmanian side, I dare to say over the next 15-20 years they both will be
-
Agree, I always thoughts Jetta had something but we continually played him out of position. He was never a small forward, lacked the tank for a midfield roll but down in the back pocket he has become the best back pocket player in the AFL

We are extremely fortunate to have access to an suburban oval 12 months a year. To get 3 home practice matches because the 3 teams we play have cricket pitches is a real advantage for Casey, bit extra cash through bar/Canteen and gate takings also helps.

Viney Setback? (Will miss AFLX & JLT, On track for Rd 1)

Don't like the words Stress fracture in feet, history says what ever the club and player says add a month. Anzac Eve match return fro Viney -
Preseason Training Week commencing - 22/01/18
drdrake replied to Vineytime's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hoping to see Mitch King through the Preseason matches. Saw him play live in the Casey Finals he is a big man that moves well. -
Really the season doesn't start to ramp up until after the Tennis we still have 2 months before the season starts. You would like to have this locked away before AFLX
-
For the club to go to the next level we need Hogan and Petracca to move close to the elite bracket of players Like to see Billy Stretch as a break out year, show glimpses last season
-
No I think a every supporter wants and hopes the club is successful but there is as difference from wanting to expecting. The mindset of good clubs is they expect to be successful and not hope
-
No we wouldn't as players would be meeting our expectations. Some supporters want us to be successful and not accept anything less others are just passive and are still accepting hype
-
After putting us through 10 years of garbage and then finish 2017 off not only the last games performance but a player lead cancellation of a camp that focused in on mental toughness, we get the right to take little swipes like.
-
Depends if the players want to do it on this day

Melbourne player investigated over alleged assault whilst overseas
drdrake replied to Steno's topic in Melbourne Demons
The issue with that is your hanging the player with out him being found guilty of any charges. It isn't up to the AFL or MFC to be law enforces outside of the game.
