  1. More of Luke Hodge and absolutely zilch of BT ( talks as much s*** as Michael Clark) Now the bloke is back from the Indian Board of Control Broadcaster we might get more pictures of DANGER instead of Kohli exercising his shoulder. I really enjoy when the lead up/passage of play is shown e.g the Watts_> Jonesw-Harmes etc goal. That is the advabtage of Foxtel over Channel 7 with no ads during play. I do have a query as to how we will go playing late on a Sunday when we are drawn to play Richmond or C'wood the next Thursday.
  2. Oscar Mac : most 1 % ( but then he could take 14 contested marks, kick 6 goals and have 25 bounces and xome p[eople would criticise him if he missed a set shot from 80 m out Angus : Opportunity did not come as much as last week Melksham for Vince only because Vince is an auto.
  3. Jetta: worth his weight in gold Salem : Ripper game, getting accustomed to pace of play-> excellent disposal Oscar & Tom ,Nev: Basis of solid/VG backline Jack W : the brains in the place Jack V struggles to make decisions in space (good in close though)
  4. Looks like Jack W can breath easily, we seem to have found a new "whipping Bot in Omac. Let the kid develop, he did not start real well , but he did a lot of 1% and improved as th game went on. Celebrate the win please.
  5. Who is going to play on Travis next week ? Daisy Pearce is a gun !!!
  6. Wish we had more like him. 2016 was full of bad luck for him. His confidence started to come back a bit towards the end of the year. Oliver, Brayshaw, Tyson, Viney,,Petracca make a potentially brilliant young midfield (plus Salem (another hard luck story in 2016)
  7. Have just found this thread. By 50 streets my favourite player. My first recollection of him was when he came onto the ground as 19th man in the reserves at Collingwood. You could imagine the reception a skinny kid with glasses received from the crowd. They soon shut up when he got the ball ,showed it to half the Collingwood side and then took off. Something special. Followed his whole career with gusto and just loved going to the footy to watch him. When Melbourne made the finals I dragged the whole family down from Dimboola to see Robby play in a final . Highlight of a day especially with his 5 goals, a Melbourne win and when he got taken off in the last Quarter the crowd just stood for him. The interview with Mike Sheehan just emphasises my viewpoint of the person as well as his footballing ability. ( Thanks for putting me onto that) . Do you realise he bounced the ball LH ,kicked Right and when required did the opposite.
  8. Yes Salem was brilliant until he rammed into the cricket pitch. Watched game on TV and it really highlighted : The difference in split seconds between AFL and VFL. that split second enabled Salem to show his polish and skells. ANB become a running ballgetter (and appearing tougher than at AFL) Clarrie is a gun Jack T lead the way eerly in the game. Showed the leadership skills that he brings to football. Will make sensational coach should he want to go that way !! Lyndon Dunn & Col showed they still have something to offer. And we have a good backup for Max in Spencer The advantage of having really good links between CAsey and MFC was that when they moved the ball it was like afl . The game style is being imprergnated into these young players and will become instinctive. Well dome Scorps
  9. Without looking at the stats : 4 SALEM 3 BRAYSHAW 2 TMAC 1 HUNT 1 omac & jetta
  10. I agree with a lot of rjay's analysis. Jack Viney seems to have trouble with BIG midfielders ala Ollie Wines and Cripps. Endeavour covers a lot of deficiencies until it gets exposed by class. I think that our midfield is quite inexperienced insofar as Clarrie, Angus,Trac, Billy and Jack V are concerned and today they got slaughtered. . Clarrie Angus and Trac are the right size midfielder for today's footy (ala Cripps) I feel that the first four will develop exponentially and Jack V has shown a big improvement on last year, but I agree that disposal is a problem for he and Dom Tyson. Modern football's biggest crime is losing possession and por disposal ( including bombing) is a major cause of it. Nathan J and Jack V are small midfielders and see ball get ball players. They will provide a strong presence for us in and under so to speak. Max will develop his ruck work and become an absolute standout. Asto how long we can use Jack Watts as the spare parts ruckman, I do not know. Maybe we need to have a genuine back up plan. Jack Watts is becoming a much better player with better people around him. Like Christian Salem he makes good decisions when they have the ball in hand. Defence wise we are putting a good grouping together with Neville Jetta proving to be one of our key players. Has a great heart !!! The MacDonalds are now playing with confidence and Omac will really benefit from his grounding this year ( which is bearing fruit in the last few weeks. Frosty takes them on but maybe should learn some discretion. Jayden Hunt is only a first year player STILL !! so has some upside to come. Remember today we had less than 80 point kicked against us with a midfield getting belted. I read on another thread the suggestion Jesse may be better at CHF. He took 5 contested marks today so he is back getting the ball. Hawthorn's strength is their field kicking and maybe that could be a really good focus going forward. Kenty has had better days than today. And I was really surprised to find how many possessions Trac got today !!! He will become a bigger presence on the ground. So really I feel today was a hiccup, but the future is getting closer. However wins against CArlton and Essendon2016 are essential as those two losses are the reason we are not there ...yet.
  11. 6 Jetta 5 Jetta 4 TMac 3 Omac 2 Jayden Hunt 1 Blank !!!
  12. Well Said. I really think some posters forget that ALL footballers make some mistakes otherwise it would be a nil all draw. Let us not forget that the side that beat us yesterday played in the Grand Final last year (and also made mistakes that day !!)
  13. Why would we give a young experienced KPD to Sydny and get a small midfielder. We have got Petrac/Angus and ginger meggs all lined up. Clubs would be queuing up for Tmac and MFC Mob see him as scapegoat !!! Hogan will become one of the great CHF. Tmac will become one of our greatest KPD so why the rubbish talk !!!
  14. 6 Nathan Jones : playing outside mid 5 Matt Jones 4 Max the magnificent 3 Jack Watts 2 Tmac 1 Billy Stretch/Petracca Jack Viney got caught too many times trying to gat onto his left side . Good side will block him off too easy We continually criticise tornoveres from the defence, but ignore the midfield turnovers whic leave us even more vulnerable
  15. Viney: Needs to use right side or Get ris of it quicker. Brayshaw : awareness improvement/shows a lot of class at times Petracca : Touch of class Kent : Great run Gawn : Terrific Watts : Massive improvement in committment/Great team game TMac/Jetta: Without hime we would have lost by 10 goals. End of Argument !!!! Wagner/Omac/Hunt/ANB/Petracca/Brayshaw/Frost/Harmes/Stretch/Hogan : all first or second year players Nathan J : Great bounce back from last week Whole Team : 100 minute effort / well done
  16. -Yes , the whipping boys this year are the Mac's, last year it was Jack Grimes/Watts, the year before we were still complaining about Mark Nield although Matt Jones/Dean Terlich got a good mention. I just about lose count of how many forward thrusts are interupted/intercepted by TMac. OMac showed a lot of promise yesterday and was NOT the only person to make a mistake. He gets criticised for not bodying up against bigger bodies. HE IS LEARNING just like Tmac was 3 years ago and we were getting excited about having a potential KPD. He is only 22 and OMacis 19 , Max the magnificent took a while and some recovery time to come good. Even the great Buddy made some mistakes ( maybe we could trade for him as I am sure the Swansland people get frustrated at him some times.. And so did some of our forwards fail to adjust to the conditions.
  17. Some people still have problems praising OMac !!! As Roos said he urged Frost and Omac when they were competing against LeBron and Shaq to bring the ball to ground. Not bad for an inexperienced pair !!! Struggled to find a bad game amongst all of MFC. Some were not perfect, but a lot were terrific. I agree TRengrove is a great versatile link in our side. We still have not seen the best of him . And there is young Angus to come . Woopy dooo!!
  18. Channel 7 Costs me $100 per month to watch Melbourne, because Ch 7 do not know they exist !! The reason we do not play some Clubs as often is because they play on Friday Nights and MFC are not in favour of Wall to Wall Bookmaker odds.
  19. Incomplete topic, you missed the biggest [censored] of the lot. BT (Who will probably surface next Monday. YOu should be grateful they ration their "Commentators"around or all of them would have been there today.
  20. I can remember a Life Member of Richmond asking me once whether James Frawley would make it and I said he would. Development and Patience. DId the Mc Donalds Grandfather pinch all the sheep of'f some of you people, because some of you would blame them for Jesse Hogan missing a goal at the other end of the ground ( was it OMac who caused him to have an airy) or Jack watts fumbling a handball. Let us be fair, today's conditions were very difficult. Only 12 months ago you were spruiking Tmac as AA, now you are blaming him for howard invading Iraq. I know stats can be interpreted in different ways. TMac and OMac (THE TERRIBLE TWOSOME) were two of our highest possession getters plus were 1 & 2 in 1 % plus were high up in % Effectiveness. If they were getting so many possessions, required to perform so many 1% ers then somebody else must have been stuffing things up further up the ground. FWIW I thought MFC played pretty well today against the current Premiers X 3. Fair is fair. !!! I think David Neitz was the last KPD to march straight in and take the game on as a teenager ( apart from the current bloke at Caaaaaaaaaaaarlton)
  21. I meant give him a break !! Fair enough .
  22. Give the kid a beak !!!
  23. I disagree with the notion that he was not up to AFL level. He has been the ultimate team player for MFC and it would be pity for us not to acknowledge it.He has proven to be a quality person. See the annoncement of Jack T and AJck G embracoing him ( surely he would be wishing he was joining him). Unfortunately he has been the scapegoat for being appointed Captain and for the teams performance. Now that he can play without the reponsibility of "Nominal "leadership he can be given a chance to show his true worth.
  24. Just saw the Media Conference and the "Announcement". The way the players showed their appreciation of Jack's return showed the respect he has earned. Would really love Jack Grimes to be with him, but that is the next step. His media conference showed the quality of the person and well done to Melbourne for the way he has been managed . Even if he does not get a kick or whatever ( although I doubt that) this has got to rank with as good a sporting story for yonks !!! (Apologies to Daniel Menzel, but we are biased here. ) I know we often harp back to the "Dark Ages" but the quality of Jack Grimes and Jack Trengrove as young people are a credit to their resilience and upbringing ( and a credit in the way they have managed themselves for the positions they were in). They are both showing the quality of the people they are. If all Melbourne players were of these blokes standards, then the Club is in great hands. Go Jack !!! ( and hopefully other jack joins him soon )
  25. The game plan is fine, just getting the Forwards and Midfielders to put pressure on quicker. In other threads we are criticising the McDonalds (a new national sport it seems), Garlands etc. It must seem like a train wreck coming when the defenders see the opposition make the break at the half forward line. Viney was tagged heavily yesterday and his frustration showed. Oliver, Brayshaw & Petracca (when they mature) will provide the strength we want in the midfield ( and the tackling and ball sense). Billy Stretch has found his genetic placement as an outside player. Alongside Billy ,ANB , Harmes and Hunt are only second year players. Nathan Jones was a second year player once. Look at how he has come along in the last 4 years. We need to be more than one dimensional at our stoppages, because oppositions are reading Max''s dominance. We need a 195cm Neville Jetta, because he has adapted to the game plan and I think Tom Mac has as well. It is just two people cannot fix a dam wall collapse.
